This sports store kicks ass! They had the black betty freefall and the ticklestick I was looking for and on sale! I will be back
Great sporting goods store! I've never been to Joe's until today, and the gentleman that had helped me out in the fishing department was a great guy. First of all, I didn't know anything about fishing equipment before coming in. He was super helpful and knowledgeable, and he described to me all of the differences you would find between brands/high to low end equipment. So, this stranger on the internet recommends going to Joe's!
Great selection. A little expensive. Good used firearm selection
Went there looking for camping supplies. Not a big selection
Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable staff, taking all relevant pandemic precautions. Great sale in winter clothing and sporting goods right now.
While the store isn't huge, they have a great selection. Also had some really good deals/prices on high quality products.
Don't bother even trying to return an item with no receipt or tags. I had the misfortune of buying a Buff on recommendation from a friendly sales gal. I didn't want the neoprene bandit looking face mask nor did I want a polar fleece neck warmer. I tried on the Buff just as I was putting my skis on and my glassed fogged. I realized this option was not for me so I took it off, put it in my pocket and skied on.
Apparently, this was considered "wearing" the thing and therefore not returnable. I explained this to the manager and she said my reason wasn't good enough so I would not even get store credit which I would have gladly turned around and spent that and then some. This isn't a way to establish a potential returning customer. I likened to be no different that trying something on in the store and asking to step outside to feel the product in the cold it's supposed to guard against.
I am very disappointed. I will not return to Joe's. (not to mention the first time there I had to walk around for 20 minutes before I found any sales person to ask for a facemask) I will gladly tell everyone I know not to shop there. Take you business to REI.
Outdoors store, fishing, hiking, camping, hunting, boating. Joes has things for sale for all of the outdoor activities you probably enjoy. Decent prices although sometimes the higher side. Everything ive purchased has been quality.
Joe's in Saint Paul and Roseville is the only sports shop that matters. Need fishing accessories, or special camping gear this is our neighborhood outfitter for anything outdoors, including Pendelton clothing. But that's the goods, the personal are our neighbors trading on reputation for our business, the store manager helped me buy cross country skiing gear, for forty-fives minutes and didn't sell me anything, we both needed help from someone else who actually selected everything I need including measurements in ten minutes. Love Joe's Sporting Goods
I don't know if this is something that other people noticed, but if so it is something that Joe's needs to take a look at. Their employees will not greet or ask women if they want help. Only males. I experienced this a few times and the most recent time played out like this. I was a few steps behind my girlfriend and her mother walking towards items. I was looking around at different stuff and was catching up to them. The guy standing there did not say a word to them and rather looked past them to me in which he asked if he could help me find anything. I found this interesting because this is not the first time I experienced it, but it was the most painfully obvious experience.
Great selection and very knowledgeable staff! Long time customer and big fan of Joe's.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They helped pick out all the right fishing gear and clothing for a trip to the Boundary Waters.
Best local shop to buy custom rigs and jigs! definitely support local shops and not the big box stores!
Not a huge selection of camping and hiking gear, which is what I went to look at. But they're prices were good and staff very helpful.
brought my russian sks to the gunsmith to have the action fixed, they had it for a month and never fixed anything and recomended that i send it to the manufactuer in Russia. note: this was bought pre ban you canot import these rifles anymore. when i asked about the qualifications of said gunsmith he told me he could take apart an ar thats how he got the job. after that i brought it to a REAL gunsmith and he had it fixed in 2 days. I hate that im wrighting a review like this on a store that i have been shoping at for 16 years, 3/4 of all my guns were bought here and all of my fishing and hunting supplys but they have gone down hill since their days on dale and front. joes sporting goods has lost a lifetime customer. save yourself the cash and go to walmart if you have to deal with idiots might as well do it at the white trash capital of the usa.
Worst place to do a price match. Tried to price match a boot, same brand just different colors. Other sites showed the same price for the same boot, whether it was a different color or not. IT WAS THE SAME PRICE!! Never do a price match with them because they will definitely think twice about it!!
Quality sporting goods store, just a little on the spendy side. Sale time is a good time to buy.
Worst customer service ever! Least knowledgeable employees I've ever witnessed. Thanks for leading me on Joe!
Great place. A knowledgeable staff. They are quick to help. The prices are a bit more than I was expecting. Of course, that could just be my unrealistic expectations.
While I like this store overall it is not perfect. I had to wait a very long time to puchase a hunting rifle. I liked most of the goods on display in all the departments but it was limited somewhat by the modest size of the store. Some areas of the store are much busier than others but staff appear to be knowledgeable only about their limited area of specialty. The store is often busy so the person you need help from may be helping someone else. I was fully satisfied with the help I got eventually. I am still satisfied with my purchases from this store.
They sell some decent bass fishing lures. As far as high end products a few from Jackall and Evergreen. No glide baits. They have plenty of reels both spinning and casting. Alot of rod choices but no high end stuff above 200 like Shimano, Megabass, Daiwa. Same stuff Dicks and Cabelas would offer. Same as well for soft plastics, terminal tackle and typical northland tackle and rapala aisles...
Cool store though more than just fishing
we bought some fishing supplies. staff are friendly and knowledgeable
Always good prices , friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Had a very knowledgeable young guy help me out picking out a rod and reel combo.
Has higher end fishing rods and reels. Also carries some JDM lures.
Very busy place. Sometimes difficult to find help because they are so busy. But when you do get help, most are very knowledgeable! Much better than Cabelas or Gander!
If you have to shop for any kind of sport you can find it here.
Visted for my 1st time today, impressed by customer service and knowledge by Chris while searching for hard to find fishing gear.
They were a third party seller on Amazon, and the sale was processed. Days later I received an email from them asking me to cancel my order due to their pricing mistake.
A good retailer would make good on the sale and learn from the error.
I will never do business with them in the future.
They lost a customer for life,
I had heard good things about this place from several people, but I had not been there myself until recently.
I stopped in and was blown away by how friendly and helpful the employees are. The product I purchased was high quality, but what impressed me most was the staff. I honestly don't have the words to express how great these people are.
If I am in need of a product that they carry, then I will go out of my way to shop here in the future!!!
Fishing staff is exceptional. Different guys with different viewpoints, and the same goal: get you into the gear that fits your budget and help you UNDERSTAND your new gear. Had a couple great experiences with exchanging items that I had issues with as well.
Best sporting goods store in the metro, hands down.
Joe's is an institution! They have fantastic selection but more...fantastic customer service!
Very friendly and helpful staff. It has a small town feel but a generous selection of items. It is noce to suppprt a local store. They also have a gunsmith on staff.
Great store friendly staff, 100 times better then the big stores.
They have great and helpful people I come here every time and each time has been a good experience
Joe's offers something you just can't get any other place. They have a wide selection of apparel, men's women's, and kids. If sports are your thing they for sure have it. I personally have spent most of my time browsing their fishing section. All the major brands you would expect at solid prices. My wife decided she wanted to purchase her first firearm. Evan in the firearms department was fantastic. He was patient and asked the right questions. Evan went out of his way to make her first handgun purchase easy and ultimately it was a fun process. The entire team working in that department seen to really enjoy what they are doing. This should be anyone's first stop for beginners to pros for your outdoor gear. Keep up the great work!
Best store for all of your sporting needs in the entire State
Lots of cool products and the staff is friendly and helpful.
Phil in the ski area was great. The other two clowns back in the ski area should not have retail jobs if they are unable to assist customers, oh wait they were to busy talking to each other vs having any desire to assist with anything. I'm so glad Phil came to the scene. The management should be grateful despite the two clowns I wound up spending $1000.00 if not for Phil I wouldn't of given you a penny of my money with the two clowns you have working back there. It will take some time to forget the clowns, however Phil.. top notch!!
One of my favorite stores. There's almost always a sale going on you can often get a good deal on what you're looking for. Most items they carry are high quality so you don't have to sort through a bunch of junk to find something good. Great store with great prices.
Joe's is always fun to stop in. Found a new winter hat on this trip.
What a great store! We went here and found more than we where looking for. Good prices, great selection of quality brands. Very helpful staff, but not in a bothersome way like some stores. The ski departments are well stocked and with great selections. I would highly recommend Joe s and this was my first visit, but not my last!!!
I was looking for a pair of shoes and Cc helped me find the absolute perfect pair. I wear them every day and love them thank you Cc for all your help you are a life saver!
I want to do as far as visiting my family in Minnesota. I was just wondering around but they were having a great sale so I ended up buying a pair of moccasins and vest which were both very cute! I also almost bought a pair of clearance boots but they weren't quite the right size . The staff at Joe's was very helpful and I would definitely stop in and Shop there again!
The guy helping me with skiis and boots was very knowledgeable and fun to work with!
Nicely organized and clean sporting goods store. The prices seem to be a bit high. But they do have name brand suppliers. My new Oakley ski goggles are awesome.
Amazing selection and deals. Favorite place to shop for most outdoors and Skiing or snowboarding anything
The staff are very help full. They have everything year round. Prices are cheaper than cabelas, but a little higher than Fleet Farm. It's not close to me at all but I still would rather go here.
Very ftiendly people that work here. And helpful too.
I consistently enjoy going to Joe's for all my sporting good needs. I purchased all my recreational boating supplies from this store including a Fishfinder, life jackets, water skis, ropes, and an O'brien water tube. I've always appreciated their selection of products.
The customer service was great and the employees were able to give me advice/instructions for a few adjustments on my boat. I know that if there were a problem with anything, the manager and employees will do the best to help.
Even though I am now in the Southwest corner of the metro area (Chanhassen), I still drive out of my way to go to Joe's for all my sporting good needs.
Awesome Sporting Place it has everything for the Outdoorsman
I have never had a problem at Joe's. Everyone does their job, whenever I need help finding something, they always point me into the right direction. Simple guy that just loves to fish. Some times I find lures at Joe's I can't find else where. Joe's overall is a first choice for me on the list when shopping for fishing tackle.
My every day stop places for the boys fishing trip.
Their fishing department is the absolute TOPS. Their staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The variety and quality of their fishing gear is also excellent. I will always use them for advice and equipment.
Their hunting department and website is another story. My experience with that department as far as their assistance, friendliness, and knowledge is a hit or miss. Their hunting equipment and guns are no better or worse than any other store. My experience there has led me to decide to never again make a trip there to purchase anything. Maybe the $800.00+ I spent on a .22 rifle with a scope was too little to deserve better with future purchases.
Their web site really sucks. The details and specifications provided for the items are minimal and can be incorrect. I purchased a pellet gun and when it arrived, the specs in the literature were quite different than what their web page provided for the same item. When I returned it to the store, with all packaging and receipts, I was met with an arrogant and unfriendly attitude on the part of the person from the gun department. It was as if they were doing me a favor by refunding my money. I left and purchased a better and more expensive item from an on-line store. At least the on-line store had helpful and accurate information.
Their clothing department is also very good but in my opinion the prices are too high except if you catch the items on sale.
The staff are very knowledgeable about fishing and price matched an item for me. Great prices (for the most part) and happy to do business with.
Great store. A lot of variety in style, brand, and price. They close fairly early on Saturday which was disappointing.
One of the non big box stores left. Always get what I need and the guys know fishing which sadly rare in fishing departments.
Customer service is top notch. Employees actually ask you if you need help or info in certain products. Highly recommended
Joe's has a lot for the size of the store. They are on the pricey side.
I love Joe's winter clearance. Great quality brands and tough winter gear. Now if Minnesota would just stop snowing!
Great prices, great service and great location. This place is a spectacle. Giant grizzly, wooden cabin design and it feels like you are in a true sporting shop. It's truly a spectacle.
2 star because the prices are very high! If you're willing to shop around do it! You will find better deals i assure you. Otherwise its a nice store.
Love this place! Everyone is super nice and helpful .
Has top name apparel and sports equipment. Also has firearms. The prices are hit and miss on finding some good deals on name brand apparel. Walking back into the firearms area is like walking into a fraternity clubhouse. Old men who are unfriendly and firearm prices are so high they cannot sell anything unless they discount prices to friends. Even used firearms are way overpriced. One customer asked about ammo(there was very little on empty shelves) the employee made a comment about all handgun ammo was behind the counter. They are dismissive like you asking questions and asking to look at firearms is somehow wasting there time. I thought that was there job? The workers in the firearm area and there were many either need training in customer service or move them out of there and change the layout so that area is more inviting for customers to come up and shop without going through a maze to get to the area. Either that or change that area and use it for producing more sales.
Stopped by clueless about what fishing reel to get. Tracy helped me out and rigged me an awesome setup!
I've been going to Joe's since I was a kid (30+ years) when they were still over on Front and Dale St. in St. Paul. My dad would bring me in and we'd talk guns, buy bait, BS with the employees a little and always found what we needed. The store has gotten bigger and lost a great deal of the personal touch. They've expanded their product lines and offerings and we can still find what we need. I just find myself wishing for more of that personal touch whenever I go back. Sometimes I feel rushed so that they can get to the next person. I still love the place though.
Have shopped this store for years but the last time was yesterday. I watched a store employee go off on some customers and actually tell them he didn t need or want their business. Well, I left too and spent $800 online. While I want to shop local Joe s makes it easy to shop on line. Save the aggravation and shop elsewhere or online. Not customer friendly. Never going back!
Went for a jacket that was $50 cheaper than everywhere else I went, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Even got a big smile from the gaurs on the way out. Good prices, good feelings.
Great place and great service. I've been going to Joe's for over 50 years!
The fishing staff were ready to help at an efficient pace. They were knowledgeable and made great recommendations based on my needs. I highly recommend Joes and will be back soon.
Great outdoor gearing up place, staff are friendly but you gotta do the engaging if you re needing help, pretty clean and welcoming have a must wear mask policy at the door and someone is watching too, also staff at checkout is a bit overwhelming keeping the distance between the customers like I wanted to get away from them not to cool, but they don t like to answer your phone call questions correctly I was told I could come in an pick up my item and I ended the call an left out to the store an no one admitted it speaking with me an the item was not in the system stock at all an I called because I wanna make sure it was there it is not a big deal but it was so hard to find it affordable I was bummed out about it but found a really nice replacement item it cost me more but it s ok I don t recommend calling them but do go it s better in person. An if you got any other option go with it. But still ok....
i give them no stars but had to give them 1 stare
i have the part numbers for my gun they wont order them unless i leave my gun with then i don't need them to fix my gun
