Just as good as I thought it would be, with lots of history, and beautiful gardens. The only down part was the cafe and the exorbitant amount that they charge for rolls etc. We went elseware for our lunch!

Disappointed with the new catering arrangements today. The restaurant does not clearly state its service times and staff didn't approach us (2 adults and 2 toddlers) to make this clear. The takeaway options were also limited. It seems there are no sandwiches for afternoon tea, just cake. Perhaps it's early days, but my recommendation is to pack picnic if you think you'll arrive late or children may sleep over the lunchtime period.

Hatfield is definitely a bit of a jewel in the crown. I've been a frequent visitor to the entire for 45 years. Generally very peaceful and tranquil with some lovely walks especially the west garden which provides the opportunity for lovely stroll, particular at this time of year with bluebells, rhododendron and a variety of fabulous trees some of which are very old. The house itself is a Jacobean masterpiece packed full of Tudor and other artifacts. The food olfferings have changed a number of times in recent years and are currently manifest in Hugh Fernley Whittinstall's River Cottage themed restaurant and deli. The menu is interesting but very expensive and is a little exclusive, pricing out a less well off potential clientele. Also painfully slow queuing to order and pay. Other than that a great day out (there is a children's play area) and once bought and stamped, your tickets will admit you to the park and gardens all season which marks it out as good value.

Loved the house and contents. food a bit pricey but good. A mad queueing system to choose your food that takes a while to figure out. Kids enjoyed the farm area and climbing frames. Ps This is where Robbie Williams filmed his video for the song"Party like a Russian"

Hatfield House is immersed in History that dates back to the Tudor period. It is the first the home Lord and Lady Salisbury. The gardens are definitely worth a visit as is the house. There is Parkland so you can take a picnic or eat at the River Cottage Deli that does great food.

Attended here for one of their wedding shows. Wasn't the greatest but the location is amazing. Has a lovely little farm here which is ok but I have been to better. Plenty of car parking spaces and toilets. Great in the summer for summer strolls. Would definetly recommend here.

A great place to visit, a lot of wonderful historical items in the palace. Beautifully kept gardens and park, animal farm, and more. Lots of other cultural attractions during the year on weekends, a bit expensive tickets, but it's worth it. Ample free parking, restaurants and shops in front of the entrance. I recommend

A remarkable 'secret gem' in the countryside, yet so close to London.
It is a medieval palace, Queen Elizabeth I lived there, with the most beautiful gardens, so wonderfully preserved.
It is also a delightful venue for your personal event.

Hatfield House is an English country house in Hatf...

Hatfield House is an English country house in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. Originally built in 1611, Hatfield House is a representative building of James I. The Hatfield Estate is now open to the general public.

The Hatfield Palace was founded in 1497 as the childhood residence of the British virgin Queen Elizabeth I. In 1558, it was under an oak tree. Elizabeth learned from the messenger that she would be the Queen of England, and that oak tree of that year. It has now become a special attraction in the park - Queen Elizabeth Oak. The palace was originally owned by the Queen's father, the king of the dynasty, Henry VIII. The successor of the Queen, James I, later gave the entire estate to the Minister Robert Cecil, which was the main body of the Cecil family.

The Hatfield Manor is an important part of the history of the British Royal Gardens and is the embodiment of the best Jacobean style in the UK. The plane of the palace building is almost the "door" type: the main room is in the middle, the two wings are forward and the central axis is symmetrical. The bottom part of the middle part is in the form of an arcade, the second floor is a row of square windows, the entrance is raised, and the wall of the pass is a gable shape, showing the influence of the Renaissance style and low-rise urban architecture. The two wings of the building are castle-shaped, with bricks on the outer walls and thick stones at the corners. The style is simple and contrasts with the buildings in the middle.

The main hall of the palace displays the childhood items of Elizabeth I and the later home furnishings of the Robert Cecil family. The decoration, decoration and interior decoration of each room are extremely luxurious. To this day, the house has also collected many of the things used by Elizabeth I, including the silk socks and gloves she used. It is said to be the first pair of silk gloves and socks in the UK at the time.

Great day out for all the family. Children's farm for the younger ones, and interesting house to look around. Some areas used for private functions such as weddings.
Best during early summer when grounds are in bloom.
