Took the family to lunch after a hike at Cabrillo, ordered a $5 coors light checked out the lunch menu, very pricey. Asked about the albacore sandwich, she came back and said, yes it is canned albacore. Paid for the beer $6, and walked over to Mitches Seafood, behind Pt. Loma Sportfishing... Best Burgers, food in the area...

So, so good!!! from calamari, roasted brussell sprouts, new england clam chowder (OMG), the caesar salad. My goodness!!! and then we decided to split our french dip and my friends split a burger - our dinner came out already cut in half and in separate plates. I am from SC and cannot wait to go back to San Diego and go back to this tavern. Thank you so much to JFAT, wonderful experience.

Fun atmosphere right on the waterfront, food is solid but not great, looks better than it taste, but it's good. I tried the Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich, which was huge but not hot at all. Fries are terrific. Cesar salad used spring lettuce (a big no no to me). Pretty darn pricey $17-20.

The specialty cocktails weren't too special. The bartender didn't seem very happy to see us. Hopefully they change the drinks menu soon. I live by here, so I'll be back sooner or later.

Yum

This is a good spot with a good outdoor seating right by the Point Loma boat slips. Good burgers, sandwiches, salads and drinks. Sunday brunch is my favorite time to go. Good classic eggs benedict, fried chicken breakfasts, and prime rib French dip.

I love Jimmy's, went during complete shutdown, got BTL of wine at 1/2 price! Food could be a bit better, ordered chicken sandwich, huge fat piece of chicken breast, they could of cut it in 1/2 so it could be edible. But that's my only complaint, fries were absolutely delicious and staff is friendly.

Great food with a great view of the harbor. We enjoyed dinner on the patio. The kids loved the ribs on the kids menu. It was a healthy portion for $8.00. The clam chowder was delicious! The albacore sandwich was big enough to split. Tasty fries. Great service as well.

This place was excellent. Family friendly. Great food. Great beer. Albeit a bit spendy for a burger... worth every bit the $18-20. Chipotle ketchup was to die for! Will definitely dine again when in San Diego

Just had dinner here tonight. They had MLB on the TV and we walked right in and sat at the bar. Service was excellent, and the food was fabulous! They had veggie options for my friend as well as plenty of carnivorous food for myself.

We started with some cocktails, and the bartender had a good hand when pouring. We also started with the Spinach and Cheese fondu with tortilla chips. The fondu was great and the chips were light and crispy. I had the cowboy burger and my friend had the double veggie cheese burger. Both were on the messy side, but so yummy you just had to lick your fingers after. The fries had great seasoning. All in all the service was quick and prompt the food was hot, scrumptious, and filled you up. The burgers would even compare to the size and taste of that of hodad's. I will be going here again.

PS also a plus the didn't have the little wet-nap squares after to help you clean yourself up but had full napkin size towels to help you out, and a place to hang my purse under the bar. It is the little things or big things after all.

Wow wow wow This is my second or third time at Jimmy's but this time was the best. Fortunately we arrived at Happy Hour time We didn't know they have it...you know a lot of things changed so our plan was grab a hamburger and go to the beer place around the block but then we saw the nice table just in front of the bay we decided to stay and surprise Happy Hour time! Yay so we ordered Ribs bbq and Jimmy's hamburger with 2 glasses of beer and man everything was fantastic! The crunchy fry potatoes cook at the perfect time, the ribs so soft and delicious, the bread and the hamburger meat was amazing ...cheers with blonde beer we ended an spectacular day after a beach day! Plus our waiter was fenomenal so visit this place then walk around and enjoy the beautiful place! Plenty of parking on site...

This place was not good at all. I ordered the onion rings and they were doughy and oily and tasted like fish. They more than likely have not cleaned their fryers in a while. I asked for regular ranch as my condiment and they only have some honey ranch which was grosse. The food is over seasoned and under cooked. The waiter was nice. But don t sit on the deck... they have outdoor ceiling heaters every 2 feet and there is no air it s like a sauna. I had to go back to my hotel and shower and wash my hair since I was drenched in sweat and it was a cold day like really? I never complained to the waiter who was the only nice edition to this place and I didn t feel like it would be nice to complain to him as this was not his fault. Just won t go back! Less is more that is the mindset they need to be in. Too many heaters too many seasonings trying to make a traditional favorite unique and in the end made it a disaster

Honestly can't even split a check up? The computer does it for you. I have worked with just about every restaurant sale system and they all have an easy way to do this. Lazy staff and the food was nothing to write home about

After going to this delightful restaurant, I can really see how they added the famous to the name. Incredible burgers and exquisite fries, all at a reasonable price for the area and quality of food. Service was great, although we did have a bit of trouble beckoning our waiter to our table for the bill. All things considered, a great restaurant.

The albacore and Ortega chili melt is an amazingly good sandwich! I have yet to find a tuna sandwich anywhere that comes close. I also tried to replicate it at home but fell short . Even if you're not a huge tuna sandwich fan this is a great choice and you will not be disappointed

Trying out Jimmy's Famous American Tavern tonight. Wonderful location on the marina with that same feel coming into the establishment. The bar was full, but plenty of seating around with a view of the TVs. The menu is pretty diverse with a very good happy hour menu (and deals) as well. This being my first time, it was a little difficult to decide, but I got it done in about six minutes. I guess that was one minute too long as the waiter let me sit for 10 min after I had decided and put all the menus down (I am dining alone, so no talking with anyone either). I settled with the BBQ sliders and a bowl of clam chowder on the happy hour menu. I also added a side of fries. It only took 9 min for the food to come, so not too bad. The sliders we're very good. Not too sweet, with fried onions and a melted cheese. The fries were a little small for my preference, but a decent amount of them, and the chipotle ketchup is pretty good. The clam chowder is a darker, heavier version. A little much for a late summer day, but will be great come Nov or Dec. It was also a good portion, just like every thing else. All in all, I could have skipped the fries for this meal, but it was all good. The only thing was that bit of a wait to order and the normal menu price is a bit steep. Come during happy hour and the price is not so bad. Overall, I am sure I will be back at JFAT in the future.

As always, I rate stars as follows: 1- not good all around, 2- some good good value, but pretty common and nothing stood out, 3- a solid choice all around, 4- one of my favorites, 5- a great experience all around and very unique for the area.

JFAT has great service, food, and drinks! The menu does not stay constant but is refreshingly updated quite often. Seafood is wonderfully done but you will not be disappointed with anything you order on the menu! Join JFAT club for specials, BD club, and special events. Great comes at a price so expect 2 people ordering appetizers, drinks, and meals to top $100. Order specials such as Monday nite burger & beer $14 or drop in on happy hour from 3 to 6pm for food and drink specials. Enjoy indoor or outdoor seating overlooking the marina or sip cocktails by the beautiful fire pit. Reservations can be made but not necessary. There are a few tables outside the enclosed patio where you can bring your dog. Afterwards a nice stroll along the marina is a nice finish.

My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday with reservations. We were worried about parking so we ended up taking a Jimmy's Famous American Tavern
. I wasn't expecting much because I'm more of a sweet brunch person and Jimmy's Famous American Tavern
offered limited sweet options but this place blew my mind! It was probably the best french toast I've had in the city.

Great food and service in a beautiful location on the water .Deviled eggs were great, so were the homemade chips with blue cheese dressing ( also fresh made). Chocolate chip cookee with icecream topped things off.

$41.00 for the 2 less-than-stellar/previously frozen cheeseburgers and french fries that weren't worth the calories. I will absolutely never order food here again, you're prices are out of line and the quality is not there.

Excellent restaurant & bar. Food always cooked with style & bountiful flavor. Monday's Burger & Brew is a great deal. Happy hour drink specials too!! Always visit here when we're in San Diego. Beautiful view of bay & yachts. Try to get outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Nice & attentive servers.

Had a Filet Mignon and Cowboy Burger Saturday night, Aug. 20. The food was excellent. However, the price for the small Filet Mignon at $48 was outrageous. The rest of the menu priced at $12- $22 was reasonable. No other restaurant charges this overly expensive price for steak in this area. Won't be coming back again because of this.

I needed some greens so I had the Wine Country salad with my beer (includes some local beers on tap). It was tastey and something a little different; it included, strawberry slices, pecans, chicken and blue cheese. Nice casual American bar atmosphere with a breaze from the harbour on the patio.
