Jacksonville Zoo Society Review

The Jacksonville Zoo is a beautiful place with a variety of animals and exhibits. Well worth the visit. My favorite section to see is the tigers. They have a tiger walk which is an overhead walkway with a glass bottom that allows the tigers to cross from one side to the other. I was lucky enough to see the tigers crossing on one visit. On another visit, one of the other tigers was pacing across the tiger walk. Gorgeous creatures. You must stop by to see the giraffes too. Every time I have been they have been up close and personal.

Always good to go visit every year. I would hope the zoo does something fun with the employees every so often. I see a lot of the employees just not looking like they like their job.

About 2500 species of animals, this zoo surely is a must visit when you are in Jacksonville. Apart from the beaches this place attracts good crowd.

Really enjoyed this zoo. Plan on at least 3 to 4 hours. Well worth the time.

We had our company party at the zoo and Zoo lights was included. Good food, the lights were pretty.

Great time.. was surprised at the fun I would have at this zoo, since I was there over 15 years ago And it wasn't so great. Great animals, good staff experience, and all in all it was a good experience.
Should have better prices for real handicap though.

This is so far one of the best zoos in the country. The train is very convenient. The big apes area is great!

Visited with my family and had a great time. Will definitely be back.

Most exhibits were open, and staff is friendly. Not very crowded at this time

The weather was awful the day we went but there was enough rain to make lots of people leave, making the zoo much less crowded which was nice. The layout was easy to follow and although most of the animals were napping we saw some pretty amazing things. Would definitely go again.

Nice zoo. BOARD WALKS NEED INSPECTION. Girlfriend fell after tripping on a board that was raised up. Skint knee. Black eye. No real concern from employees

The best zoo I've ever been too. Would absolutely go again. Lots to see and great atmosphere. Staff is fabulous, too.

Excellent place to visit and to take small children to see and to explore.

This is always a great place to bring the kids to see and learn about all the animals.

First time coming to the zoo. Very impressed. The animal inclosures were clean no smells. Didn't eat any foods there but overall I would definitely recommend this zoo to anyone.

A very nice zoo that is continually improving their enclosures so the animals are happier and the visitors are too. I really love the beautiful landscaping as well.

The grounds are kept clean and the animals seem to be very well taken care of. We spent over 4 hours exploring the grounds.

It was extremely hot. I think they need to invest in misters. I almost died.

We have been going to this zoo for almost 20 years now. We never tire of it because it has consistently grown and added beautiful areas and exhibits over the years. The gardens are amazing and there are always shady peaceful areas to sit and rest.

Just need more smiles in were birds are. I won't hurt or steal them I promise that.

Great place for a family, so so for an adult couple and things are overpriced but that's to be expected. Main thing is they have OTTERS and they are so adorable. Oh and it took me a while to figure this out but theres a penguin exhibit in the kids area. The new gorilla area is a must as well.

You must go if you haven't already!! The Jacksonville zoo is amazing , our family LOVES it . We go any chance we get, train rides, petting zoo, food, children water park a 4D theater and more! Everything inside the actual zoo is kind of pricey but it's an entertainment park and that's how it usually goes, other then that GO VISIT.

It's my best place in Jacksonville for spend time with kids. Penguins and giraffes are our favorite. Conveniently, the locomotive carries throughout the zoo. You can see all the animals close by. It is especially good that the whole of November is free for children.

We are new to Florida and live this zoo. It is easy to navigate, is clean, and has great exhibits. With two small boys, we were only able to see about half of the park before tiring out. I definitely want to go back. I was also very comfortable having my boys there, felt safe, and didn't worry about them in the park.

Other than the long lines to get in a wonderful experience. Go early!

Love the zoo - was really frustrated with the nights of lights train service. We bought the package to include the train, but come to find out, they were only running one train and the wait was an hour for the next one. Feel like they didn't plan well for the volume of people.

The Jacksonville zoo is a great place to spend the day with the family. I truly enjoy wandering through the gardens and snapping pictures of the beautiful blooms

Great day at the zoo! Clean and well takes care of the animals.

The habitats are awesome and natural! Great paths that are mostly shaded, easy to walk, and take you through everything (very organized).

I took my one year old here. We absolutely loved it. Very clean zoo and friendly staff. Clear view of each animal. Nice gardens. Definitely going again.

Great experience for kids and grown ups.the parking lot looked full but when you get in the wait time was short.really like that they rescue animals and return them to their place in the world if possible. Otherwise they take good care of them. Staff is very friendly.we will go again!!

Really nice place, friendly staff,ample space. We visited there on peak summer, still it was really comfortable because of the trees and shades. Wide variety of animals, butterflies, and birds.

Waiting for the remodel of stingray bay, such a nice place to spend the day. Kids playing in the water splash area. So many animals to see and a great place for the whole family. So many new and exciting things going on there. Can't wait to go back.

Very clean and staff and volunteers were nice and welcoming. Had great views of great apes.

My daughter's absolutely love this place. There is a ton going on here. Waterpark, water fountain, animal feeding, stingray petting, train tour, tons of animals, shops etc. Highly recommend the season pass for people who have the opportunity to visit more than twice. You get your money back on two or three visits alone.

The family and I always love coming here! It is a world class zoo on par with Atlanta and San Diego. Of course they have lots of great animals and signage about them, wide open walk ways, and boardwalks and even a splash park to cool down the kids! They also have hedge mazes and a popular playground. The tiger and the ape exhibits are new and wonderful, you might think you are Animal Kingdom at Disney World in those exhibits. Great spot

Simple and fun. Events throughout the year and the annual pass is worth it. It gets you in to other zoos across the country or provides a discount. Our family goes about once a week

I LOVE the zoo!!! Its always a wonderful time at the Jacksonville zoo. I have learned if.you go after 2 the animals are more "lively" i can not wait until the Great Apes exhibit opens. Looking forward to renewing my membership.

I love the zoo. Just wish they had told us the great ape exhibit is closed for most of 2018. They are my favorite animals to visit and I would have liked to know before buying the tickets.

Also, I found it strange that animals are coming and going. I love the kangaroos but they are gone. Nobody could tell me what happened. I hope they are safe and well cared for elsewhere. Visitors like me really love these animals so proactive communication when they leave would be helpful.

Tiger exhibit seemed very small for those large animals. One of the males was visibly distressed and pacing. I hope they get more space at night. The volunteer at the tiger exhibit was very helpful in answering questions.

First time I've ever been to a zoo and I would 10/10 recommend to anyone! All the animals and beautiful scenery were absolutely amazing. Being able to feed the stingrays, giraffes, and birds was so incredible, we actually went back to feed the stingrays at 2:30! The penguins were having an absolute blast, it was such an added bonus to be able to watch the zoo keepers feed them! It wasn't very busy the day we went and the weather was beautiful, the whole day was amazing. The only seni negative thing I have to say is their gift shops could use some work as they seem to mainly sell things that aren't orientated towards the zoo.

Great place to spend the day but it could really do with some better food.

Had allot of fun. Just wish they posted the best times to go to see them more. And feeding schedules.

Very fun experience. Will be returning soon. Jacksonville and the surrounding areas need to make sure they help keep this place up! Also ditch the cafeteria and have Chick fil a or somebody open up shop. They can donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Zoo.

I took my son during Spring Break. It was busy, but it was easy to see all of the animals. I was quite impressed by the layout of the zoo and it was easy for us to see everything in just a couple of hours, including a break for lunch.

Beautifully landscaped, animals are healthy and striking in appearance.

A day of surprise! One of the best Zoo's around. So many attractions and so.e of the best up close and personal al encounters with giraffes and Jaguars ever. The train is cool to get around and see a variety of animals quickly with a tour guide.

Great fun for a good price. The Gorilla exhibit was closed due to remodeling so we will be revisiting again later thus year. Not disappointing at all :)

Today was our daughter's 2nd birthday and we are pass holders and had a great time and she had a blast.

This zoo has definitely gotten better through the years. The stingrays are awesome and you get to pet them. Very friendly staff and cheap to have a great family day.

Jacksonville Zoo has a lot for the entire family! They handed a wide variety of animals including giraffes, lions, tigers alligators and many more. There are fun rides and a play atta for the kids. Food and ice cream are available for u to take and relax at fantastic rest areas. My enjoyed our visit and would go back to visit again!

So much to do! We visited from Georgia and loved the selection of animals, food options were okay(covid standard what can you do) we did the total experience ticket which wasn't that much more and is totally the way to go! One thing that we got to do is feed the giraffes and they were my favorite and so cute!

As a young child I grew up going to the Jacksonville zoo and gardens over the years it's only gotten better . I am grateful that I can spend time with my family and children in the place I cherished as a child and to be part of the the zoo

It's been a long time since I have been here. They have really upgraded a lot of the enclosures for the animals. The two best ones are for the tigers and the gorillas and other members of the larger primate families. The Australia part is a bit of a let down since they only have 3 wallabies. Other than that I had a great time walking around with my family.

It was a very good experience. Loved it. I had a great day.

I enjoyed the zoo the only thing I would say I didn't expect was a dead end once we reached the end of the zoo. I've been to other cities and their zoos and they usually have a way to get back to the entrance once you've reached the end but to have to walk all the way back was a surprise for me. It's an overall nice Zoo though.

Awesome visit people do need to remind their kids to practice social distancing

We loved the loop around the areas so where ever the animal was we could see it. The lions, tigers, panthers, leopards BEAUTIFUL! Was working on the monkey area. The natural look i Loved. Liked that the plants had labels. Food was ok, was not real expensive. Everyone there looked happy and enjoying their jobs.
We will be back to see monkeys!

We had a blast here with lots of active animals. The best part of the day was feeding the giraffes.

A great day for couples and parents alike! Spent the majority of the day walking and viewing all the animals with no problems! The volunteers helping us where always happy to see everyone and where always informing us about the animals that where in their area. Feed the Giraffes! It is a beautiful experience that my wife just couldn't stop smiling about it!

Pretty good zoo but would not recommend going in August do to the heat

Paid for all inclusive tickets for two, so about $60, and most of the bigger animals were put away for the 3 hours we were there. It's a nice zoo though. Clean, and very pretty. Just wish we could have seen more of the main attraction animals. Or at least post the times when they will be put away for cleaning and such, so we could have planned around it.

It seems more like a reservation than a zoo, but there are plenty of eating places and gift shops. Overall I had a great experience. However, I am somewhat concerned for the welfare of the animals. Some of the watering places were muggy or dirty, broken limbs and (seemingly too many) dead trees in the leopard exhibit (and some of the larger exhibits). There were some overgrown exhibits and walking areas with weeds and excessive rocks. I spent many hours at the zoo and it did not seem like many of the animals had enough entertianment; I noticed many were sulking, possibility out of boredom because of lack of toys or space. Some of the workers were unprofessional, one was texting on phone, another one sitting around on duty, and 2+ others did not seem knowledgeable of the animals. I'm pretty sure my above average animal knowledge could steal their job right from under their feet. A few of the exhibits did not have names or labels and I did not know what I was looking at.. buuuut Like I said I had a great experience with the Zoo. I highly enjoyed the variety of animals and especially the large cats; they were just gorgeous. None of the animals looked hungry so I am content. ZOO of Tampa did not have as many big cats and that was disappointing. Thank you Jacksonville Zoo for the beautiful gardens, and offering so much to appreciate, especially for those of us who love nature and animals. Amanda with the giraffes is beyond wonderful, just so much fun and knowledgeable. Go check her out!

I've been going since I was a kid great memories with my grandma who is no longer here fun place to take your kids

I have been coming since I was a kid. Now I take my own kids. It's always growing and hosting events. Visit here you will have a good time.

Jacksonville zoo is very nice. The tigers were very cool. Had a show with dogs, cats, and all types of birds. You can feed the giraffes. There is a small water park for kids. They offer military discount. Recommend also the gorillas and apes; big showoffs. All in all, its a good time for as a family event

Great Zoo! The baby giraffe was a hit as was the dinosaur exhibit! We bought a membership, because our other granddaughters are coming next month!
