Jacksonville Zoo Society Review

Had a great time. Wish the restaurant didn't sound like a school cafeteria.

The gardens are amazing! What a perfect zoo for our Jax. Animals are always out and the employees are very educated! We love this place so much we bought member passes!

Great place for kids and the splash pad is really a great place for smaller kids

My 1st visit here and it was truly an Awesome experience

$20 for basic entry per person over 3yrs old for a very hot and super crowded walk. Most of the animals were either laying down in the shade or in their little area where you can't see them. if you go bring lots of water and a spray bottle to stay cool.

Absolutely amazing zoo. We love our zoo. I grew up in the area in the early 70's and can remember the way it used to be. Now it is just stunning.

I really enjoyed this place and seeing all the animals. They are well taken care of and look happy. The staff is kind and so are the animals.

My kids love coming here. The yearly membership is so worth it! They have done some great improvements and continue to make more. The animals are beautiful. The prices are fair. Love the petting zoo!

Not a huge zoo, but a really good one. Staff is knowledgeable and always will to share that knowledge.

Alway enjoy but the cost has gotten ridiculous but we always have a great time when we go just don't go during the summer the animals be in hiding

The dinosaur animatronic display is absolutely mind blowing....me and my crew were there working and we're amazed we were hearing dinosaur sounds

By far one of my favorite zoo's. They have so many babies! Thier new gorilla exhibit is amazing! Clean, organized and we'll structured. Great for families!

Pretty awesome zoo - train is great but walk it first. Bring water so you have money for dipping dots and feeding the giraffes (do it!). Busy on weekends.

Fun time! Even has area for service dogs to take a bathroom break, which was very considerate. Still working on great ape exhibit but still had a great time!

Great Staff, Amazing Animals, Fun for the whole family!

Absolutely fantastic this was my three year olds first trip to the zoo and he had a blast... He really enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit that's kind of his thing, everyone that we dealt with was fantastic just as nice as they could be... we will definitely be going back again in the very near future

Family had a great time here. Zoo is really big. Takes atleast 4 hours to walk the whole zoo with kids. A couple areas are stinky ofcourse. Bathrooms are clean. Theres always a long line to board the train. Restaurants are expensive for little food. The $5 refillable zoo cup is a great buy! Refills are 1$. The animals are beautiful they are well taken care of. My favorite are the flamingos. They have deal on zoo photos three different pics for 35$.

Had a great time with the Family! All the animals looked healthy and were very active when we went! But I must say, if you go to this zoo.....go early lol its always super busy and the morning time all the animals seem to be frisky! Good clean facility too

This is one of the best zoo's I have been too. You do not think this when you first walk up to the entrance but once inside it is a great zoo with good size innovative animal enclosures and lovely set out gardens.
The entrance fee was reasonable with free parking.
A must visit if in Jacksonville.

The Halloween Spooktacular event was a blast! It was our first time visiting this zoo and we loved it. I can't wait to go back and see all of the animals during the day!

Fun zoo to take the kids to. It has numerous event's year round for kids and adults alike. Being a annual pass holder you get discounts on tickets in the park and on some events.

Small enough to do the zoo in one outing if ambitious, large enough to visit multiple times and not be bored.

Great zoo with enough space to make the zoo seem very uncrowded during the sat of memorial weekend. The new areas for the great apes is moving along and should be open in the fall I hope.great time for the kids.

Hey! I love being at the zoo! I work here as photographer so most likely, I`ll be the one greeting you with a first picture to a great experience. We have Dinos we have a number of events going on right now and throughout the year. Along with that we have great Military and member discounts. As a whole the zoo is an experience you don`t want to miss.

I go to the JZ&G every year to celebrate my birthday, with the most recent visit being this past Saturday. I ve always seen the grounds kept very clean, and on the few occasions I ve seen keeper talks they were engaging and entertaining. I also love that the restaurants on zoo grounds do not offer disposable plastic straws for the safety of their animals. The updates and revamps of certain enclosures and exhibits over the years have kept the JZ&G looking modern and inviting.

My only complaint would be how extraordinarily busy it was on my last visit. In past years for my birthday trip I ve visited on weekday mornings and early afternoons, and ended up being one of very few visitors to the zoo those particular days. This year I went on a Saturday, and while I expected it to be busier than a weekday would, I did NOT expect being stuck in a line for over a half hour just to buy tickets. This is partially my fault; the JZ&G has heavily advertised that kids get into the zoo for free in November with purchase of adult tickets, so I should have planned accordingly to go on a day when kids were in school. I also think that it would be more convenient for zoo guests if discount tickets could be purchased online and verified at the gate. The JZ&G does allow guests to buy tickets online in advance to bypass the line on arrival, but because I was purchasing a student discount ticket for $10, I had no choice but to stand in the line and purchase it at the ticket window.

Regardless of this, I still believe the JZ&G deserves a 5-star rating. It s a wonderful afternoon trip both for Jacksonville locals and visitors to the area.

I was honestly not impressed with Jacksonville Zoo, perhaps my expectations were to high. The exhibits and animals there have are alright, but not as many as I expected. I felt like there were as many vendor stands as there were animals, and most of the items were grossly over priced. There's a train you can ride around the zoo with a guide, the ride is fine and gets you from one side to the other, but the inflection of voice and almost sing songy way the guide was speaking were enough to ensure I did not plan on riding again. Staff within the gift shops were friendly, elsewhere, more robotic. I wouldn't say to avoid this zoo, I'd just say not to have high expectations.

An excellent zoo, especially nice for a day long family outing.

Very boring,just doesn't have enough attractions,to accommodate the entrance charge, I've been to st.louis zoo and Philly zoo's well worth the visit, i would advise anyone to not waste your money in jax.

What a surprise. We had heard good things about the Jacksonville Zoo but had no idea it would be a fantastic adventure. The price for all you get is incredible. Exotic animals, new features, clean facilities and friendly staff. You can easily spend a day roaming around and finding new things on each return. I would highly recommend this zoo to anyone who loves seeing animals.

Thank you once again Jacksonville Zoo for a wonderful day with the family! :) We come down from Savannah at least once or twice a year, specifically to come to the Zoo here and we have yet to leave unsatisfied. That means a lot to us and we hope you will continue to build out and up! :)

Dino display was awesome, even for my teenage son and myself. Wish there were more areas you could escape the heat, but it was a good visit.

Loved seeing all the animals. The butterfly room was really sad. You have to pay extra for it. I didn't have to pay for it because of it being included with the ticket's my friend got. It's definitely not worth it. There wasn't hardly any butterflies at all. Could of used more flowers to.

The Jacksonville Zoo is awesome we purchased the Full Experience tickets and enjoyed every part of our visit we had our two grandchildren with us and they loved it

Friendliest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered! Everyone there was SO kind, informative and helpful. We had a wonderful visit in spite of the heavy rain!

Great zoo, BUT! Get wrist bracelets for the train along with admittance tickets - especially in the heat of summer! The trip through the zoo does NOT loop back to the entrance; therefore, when you are at the end of the exhibits, you have to either walk the entire way back, or purchase tickets at the end for a ride to the entrance.

The family and I had a great time as always. The dinosaria event is definitely worth seeing

Normally I don't really care for Jacksonville mostly because of the news and what I hear but I loved the zoo I went for my cousin 2nd birthday today and it was very fun

Fun time. Tickets were reasonably priced. Food was kind of pricey but overall it was a nice trip.

The Jacksonville Zoo continues to wow as it has grown over the years. If you went grew up in Jax and haven't been since you were a child, you would hardly recognize it. Definitely worth a visit for grown ups and children.

Jacksonville Zoo is a great place for the family to visit. The zoo is planned out so you can take the train to the far end and walk your way back to the exit. Be careful, you can spend too much time in one place and not get everything seen before the day is up.

It was my 1st time at the Zoo since I was a small lad in CA... I went with my wife and the staff was very nice and the animals were very great to learn about and look at.

Overall I HAD A BLAST! would definitely go again!

Doing the best they can to encourage social distancing in the era of COVID19, but it is up to the people who visit to actually do it. Weekend visit felt a bit crowded.

My daughter loves going to the zoo to see all of the animals and ride the carousel. She wanted to go to the kid park area but after a very long day at the zoo, mommy was just too tired.

Love this zoo! Sometimes I feel like the enclosures are a little small, but I can tell the animals are well cared for. $10 for students with a college ID. and they include the butterfly hollow and stingray bay in general admission now! So there s good opportunities for saving money. I brought my camelbak so I didn t have to purchase water. Worked out well. The dinosaurs are much better than expected. Check it out while you can!

Landscaping around and throughout the park needs improvement

No mask requirements or enforcement. Most hand sanitizer stations were empty. Good walking size zoo - 2 to 3 hours.

We absolutely LOVE the zoo. This is our second year with our family membership. The dinosaur exhibit is super neat and my children are so glad it has been extended. The new Camp Critter show is a must see. It is hands down one of the best live animal shows we have seen. It is super cute and entertaining. The fact that the animals were adopted from local FL shelters was just the cherry on top.

Very well shaded for hot days and love seeing all the animals. Great place to visit with\without children, when visiting this area.

Very disappointed, I brought my grandson and family who came in from Boston there one it was very expensive and two half the animals weren't even out! We didn't even buy the picture that they took when we walked in which we would of wanted but it was expensive! All and all not the greatest day!

Good place to take the kids. Just beware, after 5p or so, a lot of animals are I. For the day so you won t see them.

Always such a pleasure going to the zoo and they always seem to be expanding and changing exhibits

You get there and there were to many people. Rude people and staff! Grown ups bumping into your kids. You go to the carousel and go to pay, kids all excited and they won t let you pay with a credit card because you have to have the full experience to reduce the spread of Covid. But they don t make wearing mask mandatory and almost everyone was walking around with no masks all close to you. When we complained about the terrible experience and how crowded it was we were told the zoo was only at 50% capacity! Never going again and wouldn t recommend to anyone to go to this zoo. Kids were so disappointed that they asked to leave the zoo and just go to the park instead.

Nice way to spend the day. It could use some updating. More people need to go and support this zoo.
