The whole thing is great, we spent all day there and everything was lots of fun.
The whole thing is great, we spent all day there and everything was lots of fun.
The zoo is (for the most part) a free range park with a walk that leads you past animal exhibits. So it has a beginning middle and an end.
There is a section for purchasing food and drinks. There is a part of the walk that leads out to the trout river, although it was damaged in last years hurricane. Im not sure if its renovated yet.
All in all, a pretty good time out, especially when they have their Halloween, Christmas and Dinosaur special events.
By far the best Zoo in Florida. Animals seem very happy and have a ton of energy. They were feeding all the animals while we were there to keep them active. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We even got to feed the drafts! Can't wait to go again.
Baby loved it was her first birthday...she love animals! Wild Krats her fav show!... Will take her again after covid19 die down
Great programs and lots included with admission. The special features pass is a little pricey for the things it gets you (train, Merry go round, Animal Show, etc) but worth it for first visit. Buy a membership for bezt value and many return engagements!
This is not a very big zoo but is good enough for everyone who loves to see some animals. It was well maintained and I never found it too crowded. They also have train rides, just in case you are interested. The general ticket for adults is around $18, not sure about kids though. Overall this place is good for decent weekend visit.
We had so much fun walking around seeing all the animals!! Plus my son had a blast in the waterpark!!
Wonderful zoo. It seemed more like an African safari than a zoo. Nice grounds, enjoyed watching the monkeys run thru their sky tunnels above us.
The zoo is super fun!
My party and I went when DinoTopia was there, which was great since my birthday was dinosaur themed (dont judge me!)!
There is a lot to see, not just animals, like their Asian garden exhibit and their butterfly garden! They are also expanding their primate enclosure to include some new additions to the park!
I do suggest you bring walking shoes or ask for a wheelchair like I had to. The zookeepers and extra staff were so nice about helping me out when I started to experience back pain. They offered all the essentials without even having to be asked, which was great!
I highly recommend you visiting in the fall / early winter though! Wooo it was toasty! Not their fault of course!
Great zoo! I enjoy it every time I go! My girlfriend and I have a pass so we go pretty often to see the animals. They have a good selection of animals and like the new African Forest exhibit they just opened!
This makes a wonderful day trip for any group (social, church, school). It was fun & very educational. The workers that were assigned to each exhibit, was right on point they were very knowledgeable & really knew their stuff. All of the exhibits I went, all of the staff were able to answer each & every question I asked. Way 2 go ZOO STAFF!!
Great place to see the animals. Enjoy family time there.
Great place to take the family for a fun-filled day outside!
Fantastic Zoo! despite it being very busy, the flow was natural and relaxed. very rarely did anything feel crowded.
All of the exhibits were well maintained and gave plenty of natural space for the animals to thrive in. The staff was very friendly and excited to talk about the animals with guests. Would recommend this zoo to anyone!
Really clean and well kept Zoo. My family loves going there.
We had a great family day & really enjoyed the animals, safety precautions that were in place & the friendly staff members. Will be visiting again soon.
Amazing place! They do great wildlife conservation, manatee rehab.. And all of the animals seem comfortable there. You can tell the keepers love their jobs too; They are always friendly and willing to talk about the animals. Definitely an awesome day trip!
This place is wonderful compared to The Gulf Breeze Zoo! They have huge support of the City of JAX and they have a wonderful set up!
They have a train that goes around the entire zoo for most of the day. All the exhibits from the lions, snake room, elephants, bird room, cheetah and lion exhibit, you get to see penguins and elephants. The Tiger exhibit is amazing! They have 4+ full grown beautiful tigers where you can within feet to capture their beauty! The Giraffes, rhino and the gorilla exhibit is phenomenal!
They also have a big jungle gym for the kids and a splash pad during the summer! Food is descent, and the Zoo itself has a huge property! Great place too if your looking to get some miles in while also being entertained!
Splish splash Tuesday's was a blast! The 4d show was awesome to cool off at. We always love the train rides. And of course, the animal exhibits are great. I wish they had fans or misters throughout the zoo though.
Had a great time. Staff is helpful and it is a great place to walk. We have passes and love going there to get out of the house and have fun while learning.
Had a GREAT time at Night of Lights. Buying tickets online was easy.
My family (includes an 8 and 12 yr old) have been long time annual pass holders. We have always appreciated and enjoyed what the zoo has to offer. They are a great resource for homeschoolers like us.
Very crowded, but the exhibits were great. We went in the middle of the day and many of the animals were still active, which we didn't expect.
Animal residence seemed taken care of. Take head that most of the crowd will prob ably be school age students.
Really great zoo for animals and plants. Their horticulture was really nice especially in the Asian section with all the bamboo. The gorilla section was under construction, but the rest was interesting and fun. They have pretty much all the standard zoo animals you can think of organized by region.
There is a train ($) that goes around and gives a different perspective of the zoo. We just walked the whole thing, but it can be tiring.
If the giraffes are hungry, you can pay to feed them some leaves and get a nice photo. They also have a carousel ($) if the kids like that.
Love this zoo! Great place to spend the day. They have a play area for kids and splash pad for those hot days, so make sure to bring a bathing suit. Another plus is you can bring your own food.
We take the grandkids here a lot and it s such a kid friendly spot! Annual pass is so well worth the extra expense. They love the water park area!
Over priced, out dated old and rusty. Alot of animals looked depressed. Unpleasant train ride, seemed unsafe. (Look like it was from the 60's). Could barely see alot of the animals listed. Really hope they remodel and renovate whole zoo because it has the potential to be great . Overall we made best out of the situation and had a good day
Amazing variety of animals, friendly staff, and so much more. The place is huge, and even has a Stingray petting zoo set-up! Some of the animals here are among the ones that many people never knew even existed, like the Okapi!
Fun day with my little guys. Awful time at the restaurant there though. Pack lunch!
Very good experience, haven't been there in like 10 years but their is alot more to do and see, more countries, more exhibits, more parking, good to see the train still going on, The zoologists were very informative and very nice. Overall great time, and great weather.
Love this place. The zookeepers are very knowledgeable during their talks. You can spend all day with the kids here.
Loved the zoo. Staff is awesome and had a grand time. Kids enjoyed it too. Great place.
A lot of attractions were closed. It's a decent size zoo
The staff did a great job of making sure it was a wonderful experience while still helping everyone follow social distancing guidelines and keeping everything clean and orderly
19.95$ for adults 10$ for kids 3 and up and a 10% military and AAA discount.Awesome exhibits and more still coming.
This was my first visit in 2 decades, and I was unbelievably impressed with the entire presentation of the exhibits and the quality of care for the animals. We spent a good 4 hours walking through and enjoying every part of the zoo without paying for the extra shows or rides, and I felt the price of admission was well worth it.
Had so much fun at the zoo. My daughter and grandson from minnesota were with me, they really enjoyed it.
Great place to visit. I wouldn't wanna live there though.
Very organized and a very fluent pathway to follow. There is a lot to see, membership definitely worth it.
Great place to spend the day with the family with lots to see and do
Excellent so much to see and do!! It was wonderful!!
What a fantastic zoo. I love all the tunnels used for the animals, although the lion one makes me nervous.
Great family zoo with good views and reasonably priced
Awesome zoo! Plenty to see and learn, honestly I fell in love with the gardens.
Loved visiting the zoo with my family. There is so much to see that we did not manage to see everything it in 3 hours. Highly recommend!!
Loved it, my minions went crazy over the elephant. The giraffe was eating from their hands. We loved it
I've watched it grow from over the year's, especially since I was a kid and children love to go and see the animal's that they might not get to see any other way..
We love this place! Even on busy weekends, it is never crazy. My 3 year old can't get enough of this zoo. I love that they have ample amount of free parking and we were able to bring our own snacks for our daughter with no issues. There are plenty of cute little areas/benches were you can sit down and eat your food. Definitely worth going back time after time.
I love the zoo. They always have some thing awesome and unique and overall do a superb job of keeping up with appearance as well as care and housing of animals. The only thing I feel could be improved is information provided on animals and habitats etc. Maybe neat fact. The fact cards are very short and offer only bits of information. Also, the bald eagles...whats up with that they look pitiful.
Haven't been there in about 6 years sadly and had such a fantastic day! Got so many awesome pictures the animals were in perfect spots etc. Going to become a member and start going again more often !!
The staff is very friendly. The dinosaur exhibit was very cute and life like. The splash pad for the kids was great!
Had a wonderful time with three generations attending. Food was good, prices good and wheelchair was available. Kids enjoyed the play area. Will return
Always good. Especially when we save the lion's and the zoo from a fire!! Everyone was safe....
Jax zoo really is a great zoo. The animals are all well visible, the park is not too big, the place is easy to get to and parking is plenty....plus they do a lot of events. Great place to spend the day.
Took my wife and child as stop on the way to Orlando. Very pleased with the exhibits and staff!
Hands down one if the best zoo's that I have visited. Easy to find the different exhibits, not over crowded and more importantly you can feed the giraffes!!! Fun place for the family to visit.
Our Jacksonville Zoo is amazing!!!! They've done an awesome job with upgrades.
Love the zoo with the Grandchildren. The Tigers are awesome here. Kids like to touch the sting rays in the petting area
My family and myself had a really great time. Bring water & wear some comfortable shoes
My kids always have a great time. My husband and I also enjoy it.
Take a camera unless you've got a super killer optical zoom on your phone. Many of the best views are fairly far away from the animals.
We usually skip the train ticket, but it's useful if you've got a a little one and you're planning to spend the day - they'll be tuckered out by the end and you'll be schlepping them back to the entrance.
Don't stroll too fast and be sure to stop and smell the vast variety of plumage on display in the spring months. The gardens are equally as impressive as the wildlife here. I really love the bamboo forest path.
A fun place to visit. Regretfully the Covid shutdown has taken a toll on the upkeep and appearance of the facility.
Great time. So hot when we went but they had water station set up through out the park for free water. Great zoo
Fun fun fun! You can feed giraffes, ride on a carousel, and see some amazing exhibits.
What an amazing zoo! There are so many exhibits. There was a leopard, jaguar, tiger, panther, lions, elephants, bobcat, giraffes, gazelles, otters, and much more. This was a great experience. Very likely one of the best zoos I've ever visited. The train ride was cool and the play park for kids is also nice. It includes a petting zoo and a splash area, which is great in this Florida heat! Reasonably priced Kona Ice was also a treat. Over all, very good trip.
I love this zoo! From petting sting rays, feeding giraffes, petting goats, splash park section, and the fabulous gardens, this is a zoo not to be missed. They do some really cool exhibits and events over the holidays if you are in town to catch these.
Very nice zoo! Our family really enjoyed it. Lots of animals were close up.
Who doesn't love the zoo?? Great place to take the kids for an afternoon to learn and burn off some energy.
Has a great day at the Jacksonville zoo. We went on an overcast day. Lucked out no rain and was not cold. With it being overcast all the animals were out. Tigers were great. Expect to make a day of it. We spent 6 hours there and believe we saw it all. Did not do the kid section we had no kids with us. Hope to go back again
Absolutely Awesome... My daughter really Enjoyed Herself for Her Special Day!!!!
Haven't been in almost 20+ years. It was awesome watching the granddaughters seeing it for the 1st time!
They don't have a wide slection of food choices but it is a nice sized zoo with ALOT of animals.
Really costly eek money from you all over the place for family of 8 we spent well over $250 for the day but enjoyed feeding birds, sting rays, kids loved dino exhibit & train. Bathrooms etc clean. Masks suggested but not required much to hot to keep them on all day. Walked 4 mls around zoo. Food was decent in restaurant. Monkey exhibit 4 monkeys out, otters, jaguar nothing to see today.
Amazing botanical garden scaling throughout. Extensive amount of animals to observe in an "around the world" style setup
We love the zoo but having to pay for every single exhibit separately is a bit much. Once inside you should be able to enjoy every thing there is to enjoy inside the zoo. A flat fee should be charged for everything. That's the ONLY thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars.
We really enjoyed ourselves at the Jacksonville Zoo we drove from the Gainsville area and the trip was truly worth it!!!!! The cashier was awesome!!! There was so many animals and we got to see almost all of them. We enjoyed the train ride too. All the extras for the 10 bucks more is definitely worth it! We will definitely be going back soon!!!!!
