One of our favourite restaurants for special occasions, this time my wife's birthday. Food and service up to its usual very high standards which made for a great evening. If in doubt, always go for their fish pie! My one mini gripe is that I've always thought that their wine list is just a little bit more expensive than it needs to be but I guess you get what you pay for. Top restaurant, felt very Covid safe, recommended.

It was open late. Which was exactly what we needed. The oysters came with a good sauce and were really good. As a main dish the teriyaki salmon tasted great! Accompanied by a few vegetables. The entire dish was a little small, but the flavour was great!

Excellent service, lovely atmosphere, superb location and an extremely reliable brand for anyone who loves London and loves fish. Good food but not artistic or extraordinary. A nice touch is the vegan menu during January. Wine list more expensive than it should be. Overall a very enjoyable evening but a bit pricey for what it offered.

It's ok. Not awesome, but ok. The service was very polite, though it took 20 minutes for the manager to see we hadn't had our order taken and then all of a sudden service was everywhere.
The food was good, rather nice and not too strong Bisque and we had the grilled fish. Again good, but not "wow".
The Bream was rather impressive, but this was let down by a rather badly cooked Gurnard fillet (it smelt and tasted fishy). The salmon and Bass fillets were also impressive but these usually are in most fish restaurants.

The restaurant also nearly forgot the birthday plate I ordered for my wife, but this was remembered with the bill and came with some complimentary truffles.

It was a very good restaurant and I wouldn't mind coming back again, but it somehow missed the wow factor, there's lots of things it does right, but we had a few things missed that took the sheen from it.
That being said I know of no better seafood place in town.
I apologise for the mixed review, but I was left with mixed feelings by this meal, it was close to fantastic but just missed the goal.

(check ahead for the native oysters and crab, despite it being a Friday they had run out by the time we arrived for dinner).

Romania guy working in a bar, tried to cheat on us for 40 euros. After I said that I would call the police, he hastily retired. You should better recruit staff for your wonderful restaurant. See you on Monday.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in LOndon. The food is always beautifully cooked, well presented and fresh. The staff are attentive and ensure you have a good eating experience on every occasion - no robotic serving staff here, their own personalities shine through which make for a more comfortable pleasant experience. HIghly recommended.

A wonderful long-standing institution J Sheekey delivers a classic fish menu with just the right balance of friendliness and professionalism. The whole experience is like being welcomed by old friends to a dinner party. The restaurant consists of a number of separate spaces, some small and intimate, others larger, and all connected by a passage where staff greet and guide you to where you need to be with genuine friendliness. The fish is fantastic. Not cheap, but perfectly done and with hearty and generous portions. There are no smears or blobs here. Just expert cooking founded on decades of experience. Lovely staff know just how to strike the right balance between friendliness and professionalism. I would go back in a heartbeat.

A bit of a classic. Not been here for a while but it's worth popping to. We had the Irish oysters which were fabulous along with the very tasty smoked eel croquettes. Tempura lobster was fab and the octopus was fab. Wasted calories on the More

High points was their shrimp and scallop burger, but I couldn't finish as it was quite rich, oysters were served with their gorgeous, tangy shallot vinegar.
I celebrated my friend's birthday and staff were very kind and piped 'happy birthday' on her dessert plate, which was a nice touch.

My wife treated me to a birthday meal here and I was very glad she did! I've been lucky enough to go to a few great seafood restaurants around the world and this is up there with some of the best. My only quibbles were that the menu is slightly confusing - there are sections for starters, mains and sides but also a collection of shellfish dishes that for some reason are separate. Also the price is quite steep, especially for shellfish. I thought the price for the mains was reasonable though. We tried the scallops and seared tiger prawns as starters, both were delicious. The pan fried sea bass was cooked just perfectly. It tasted exactly how I was hoping it would in my mind! The monkfish and tiger prawn tikka masala was the standout dish of the lot though. The sauce was pleasantly spiced (we like things hot so the fact it had any chili heat at all was nice for us), the flavours were wonderful with the fish and prawns really going well with the sauce. We were too stuffed for pudding, we definitely didn't need a starter and a main each but I'm sure others could. If you can afford it, do give this place a go!

I had an excellent pre-theatre dinner here and would definitely come back. You can't miss the oysters which are top notch. But the main dishes are also exceptional. Try the fish pie and the halibut with poached egg. The service is also top rate and very accommodating.

Took my Mum for her birthday. The staff were fantastic and even brought out a plate of birthday chocolates on the house. Food was very, very good. Chargrilled squid starter and monkfish tail were particular highlights.

Marvellous. In The Atlantic Bar they sure know how to cook a crab and the Muscadet was the perfect accompaniment. Sheekey is one of those iconic London establishments you have to go to. The staff are relaxed and polite. Ask their advice when ordering. Or just order the king crab. It really was cooked perfectly, not boiled beyond recognition as in most places. My friend complained it smelt a 'bit fishy'. Best to remember that you can't please everyone!

Another great place in the Theater district to dine pre or after theater with seafood specialty, especially lobsters and oysters and different type of clams and mussels. It is also a very huge place so there is a very high turnover in dining patrons. Strongly advised.

Went with my girlfriend to celebrate her birthday + finishing her exams.

The restaurant outclassed the reviews that I had read. A simplistic yet attractive dark wood decor, with good decoration and friendly staff. The booking had been made with a request of an ambient table, which the restaurant very kindly granted. The atmosphere was enjoyable, with all customers seemingly enjoying themselves. I didn't hear one complaint for the entire stay.

The staff were all very friendly from the get-go, ranging door staff greeting us well, one of management (I would assume) being very helpful in assisting with getting us a table 30 minutes earlier than we booked for, and the service being impeccable.

We had a dozen oysters, which the restaurant kindly provided us a selection of 4 of each type on the menu. These came with very nice condiments, one of jalapeno in white vinegar, and one of red onion in balsamic vinegar. The usual Tobasco and lemon came, alongside others, however I was much happier to dig into the ones prepared by the restaurant!

The starter was very tasty, of fried chilli squid and avocado. A slightly small portion but the taste more than made up for this. Service was very attentive and picked up on the fact we had quietly agreed to share a starter and provided two plates for us to share out the starter with.

The main course was divine. I had a grilled trout on a bed of creamy mash potato, with a side plate of vegetables. The trout was quite honestly the best I have ever tasted, a good full flavour, crispy on the skin side and tasted great. The mash was also very tasty, as were the vegetables. I noticed there were radishes in the side plate of vegetables, which I was a little wary of (didn't want pungent breath for the rest of the night!), however upon tasting them I found them to be very easy to eat with the rest of the dish without gaining anything in the way of bad breath.

My girlfriend had the Monkfish, Muscles and *insert other main ingredient here* curry, which was extremely flavoursome, which I was very happy to finish off for her. A nice little kick to it, but it wasn't overpowering and she loved it - which was the main thing!

Good selection of wine, but stuck to Sauvignon because my pallet isn't quite refined enough to go against my norm.

Overall, 5/5 in all areas. Would definitely go again, and definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys seafood.

A fairly well-known place. Seafood is different. With wine, the bill for two is usually 200-250 pounds (90 per wine is acceptable). The fish is good, no less than the rest. Book in advance. The wine list is mediocre, alas. And quite expensive

I personally have a mixed relationship with this restaurant. I see it very much as a treat restaurant, and the food is always exemplary. The rooms are intimate and warming, surrounded by theatrical faces both at the surrounding tables and the walls, from all those productions and films you just can't remember the names of. What does unsettle me every time I go though, and predominantly as a guest of dear friends, is the cost of it all! Not a cheap evening out! As a guest I find myself searching hard for something that I like but is affordable, and that I find frustrating. I recommend this restaurant, but make sure you're feeling financially flush before going to get the best out of the experience!

Outstanding! The food we had was sublime - no exceptions. Of particular note was the tuna ceviche. Surprisingly slightly spicy it was absolutely delicious. The monkfish curry was sublime. And how can I forget the charred octopus and cod and octopus - equally beautifully cooked, presented and as tasty as could be. Bravo chefs! And bravo the incredible staff. Brilliantly professionally attentive and so well trained - a real credit to the management. Expensive but nevertheless unhesitatingly recommended.

This seafood restaurant has been feeding actors and their audiences for decades and when you enter the place you see why.
Comfort, a sense of elegance and at the same time very busy restaurant with great service adds up to a very good experience.
Happily go back again.

My all time fav fish restaurant (except for Nathan Outlaw).

When you walk in you get the Great Gatsby feel. The French waiters are charming and polite. They are very good with their wine and they recommended us some nice wine to go with our seafood platter.

If you re in Covent Garden or soho area, you must visit. It s best to make a reservation for party of any size. If it s 2, they may be able to accommodate you sitting at the bar. I think it s actually a better experience because you feel like you re in France.

The restaurant was packed with enthusiastic people enjoying the fine food. We had fish assorti plate for two which didn t only look stunning it was beautifully balanced and tasted amazing. Unfortunately the side vegetable dishes tasted awful.
