I went to the consulate to renew my passport and my experience was good. You don't even try to make an appointment online. It is impossible!! I sent all the documentation by mail following the instructions on the web. After 3 months they sent me an email with a code to enter the "appointment" system for the final phase of the passport. There were appointments for that same week. Upon arrival at the consulate they checked my appointment and passport and told me to wait to be called. Within half an hour they called me, told me to sign a paper and put my fingers on a scanner. They didn't ask me for anything else. 15 minutes later I already had the new passport in hand !! Everything very correct. I guess I was lucky, I hope the same happens to everyone!
