Expert service from Claire who to our every need. Great job.
We recently held our wedding at the Islington. The whole process was a dream. Easy to deal with in the lead up, accommodating and helpful. The rooms are wonderful, beds and pillows the most comfortable I ve ever slept on, and the staff are wonderful.... they helped make our day as special as it could be. The food is also amazing. You won t find a better place to stay.
Great gardens to explore and relax, fantastic food and rooms
I only wish I had known how amazing this hotel was before booking, I would of based my holiday around this beautiful haven. The food and accomadation was exceptional but it was the staff that truly set this hotel apart from any I have stayed at in Tasmania. A huge thank you from both myself and my partner.
I love this place to much! Great location, rooms and the service is amazing :)
Terrific location looking at Mount Wellington and just outside the CBD along Daveys Road. Service is up there with the best hotels in the world! A personal touch every day with everything they do. From breakfast to bedtime teas. Would love to come again and would recommend to anyone that comes around to Hobart.
Close to CBD, luxurious, spacious and modern rooms (netflix service included for room I stayed at) and exceptional service from staff. Definitely will stay again.
Absolutely wonderful! Speechless, all the great reviews were true! We will be back .
Everything was perfect for a getaway - other reviwers are correct it deserves highest rating. so if you are worried about the stay here, dont be.
but let me list things that may concern (?) or watch out for:
1) room had no "working desk". it shouldnt be a concern for most who travel for getaway and retreat but on a off chance you are travelling for work this may concern you if you are road warrior.
2) location just be mindful it is in a residential neighborhood and away from town center. if you have a car no big issue but getting taxi to town yoh definitiely need to book. on the way back is easy plenty of taxi in city center
3) this isnt a family place. its for couples. if you have couple young kids they may destroy the artwork or disrupt the solenm ambience. even if hotel allows you with kids, you will feel out of place.
4) it is very personal. onsite managers (thx Jess and Claire!) are amazingly friendly, they know guests by name and attend to you... however if you like to be left alone or feel secluded, the small size of hotel may concern you.. (say if you are on secret trip with your special someone and want to be left alone)
5) no onsite dinner on certain days. regrettably i stayed on days with no dinner service, so if you are the type who want to eat and sleep this may be issue
so the 5 things to note, otherwise it was simply perfect... i have stayed at many top hotels of the world and its on par with those world leading hotels.i have stayed.
Lovely place with history and a plethora of incredible art throughout, amazing views of Mt Wellington and the staff were lovely!
Wonderful boutique Hotel wish we would of discovered this place earlier. Fantastic food and friendly chef went above and beyond great service staff were amazing Gaby was lovely, enjoyable experience pleasant surprise will defiantly coming back again .
Amazing hotel. Incredibly friendly staff and lovely rooms. Make sure to try their home made tomato relish with breakfast!
Lovely private hotel with interesting artworks and delicious breakfast.
Fantastic hidden gem. Private garden was beautiful. Service discrete. Ventilation could be improved as our room was over the kitchen. Whole room smells like breakfast.
Nice atmosphere if not a little rundown. Helpful sfaff
Started here with my wife for my birthday and had a wonderful stay. From the moment we entered the premises and greeted by the general manager we just had the best time. The wonderful older part of the hotel dates from 1847 and is filled with fascinating items collected by the owners. The newer sections of the hotel provided great accommodation and our room had a be great view of My Wellington. Staff were fantastic including the chef who came and talked to us about the meals on offer.
Great place to unwind for a week. Staff, accommodation and food were amazing.
Wow! This place is stunning. Hands down the best hotel I've ever stayed in.
Impeccable service, lovely premises, nice little space in South Hobart overlooking Mt Wellington. What more can one ask for?
Very warm and friendly staff. Excellent food and well appointed cozy garden rooms.
Such a great hotel. Hosts were great, as is the food and rooms!!
Spent two nights of our honeymoon here and were absolutely in love with this exquisite little hotel. Amazing service and food. Rooms were beautiful and unique with all the amenities. We're dying to return to the Islington!
Stayed for a wedding this weekend. Was absolutely magnificent. Service was fantastic and truely felt like an extension of the couples home as they had requested. You hit the brief perfectly. We were also pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail in the service. Including some relaxing tea ready for bedtime. Views of Mt Wellington from the courtyard were supurb and made for a very scenic breakfast each morning. Thankyou!!!
Really special place homely friendly and unique loved the service nice humble and relaxing.
Amazing place! Service is outstanding! Really enjoyed my time there! Highly recommend this place!
My husband and I recently had the privilege of getting married here. It was by far the most wonderful experiences of my life!
All the staff throughout the organisation stage to the service on the night, were fantastic. The chef cook the most divine food, it had so much love and passion poured into every dish. They did the most incredible job catering for our vegan guests, and even got in our favourite red wine.
The venue is just spectacular, they have the most exquisite artworks and each room is uniquely designed.
I look forward to returning for our anniversarys to come.
Thank you so much to the entire team at the Islington, you made our marriage the most memorable evening.
Great place to stay... they do all the little things right, polite, generous, clean... recommended!
Beautiful place to stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was an excellent size, nicely decorated and the king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom overhead shower rose was great and nice Aesop products too! We also ate in the glass conservatory restaurant and the food was very delicious. Really nice at night with the lights on, music playing and fire going.
My only feedback would be the windows needed a clean and no exhaust fan in bathroom.
Stunning property. Restaurant and service was very good.
Loved this hotel - our favorite on a two week trip across Tasmania. Incredible attention to detail, and wonderful staff. Really enjoyed everything and hope to return some day!
We just had 4 nights at The Islington and we can t fault it. From the welcoming, friendly staff to the beautifully appointed room with everything we needed, not to mention the food! A la carte breakfast, all day snacks and the chef s dinner (extra) were all amazing. We will definitely return if we come back to Hobart.
Amazing place. From the moment we stepped in the front door we were greeted by Annette who made us feel like VIPs. The rooms were exceptional, clean and stocked with quality products.
Each night of our stay, we were presented with a tray containing their specialy made 'good sleep tea' and chocolates.
Thank you to the wonderful staff.
Humberto and Rosy
Beautiful room, staff and breakfast. Lovely touches- dream tea and a treat delivered to the room at night time, coffee, tea, juices and pastries throughout the stay, heated bathroom floors in our room, very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, stunning sitting rooms with fireplaces. Can t wait to return.
Beautiful art, boutique hotel with amazing, polite staff who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a fantastic experience
Food ambience wine list rooms and service and staff excellent. Comfy bed. Nice toiletries. It was a fun place to stay. We would not stay anywhere else in Hobart.
Islington even made us a toasted sandwich dinner when we arrived, exhausted. Nothing a problem and the toasted sandwich was perfect! Thank you.
Also, we got great car hire service and good prices from local outfit Drive Car Hire, who delivered and picked up from the Islington, for no additional charge. So easy to deal with. A nice clean Honda Civic. Went like a charm.
Also, go see MONA.
Beautiful rooms, delicious food and welcoming staff. We felt right at home and look forward to returning. Highly recommend for a night of luxury.
Heaven nestled within Hobart. Beautiful accommodation, luxury inclusions and staff are extremely friendly and take care of all your requirements.
We stayed at the Islington Hotel for 3 nights and it's one of my favorite places that I've ever stayed in. We were in the Regency Room by the kitchen. The room itself was beautiful and spacious -- there was space to sit and enjoy tea, a big comfortable bed, a lovely bathroom with a large soaking tub (Aesop bath products, which I love)
The building is beautiful, with lots of lovely sitting rooms -- cozy, with fireplaces, and excellent art. At night, after dinner, we made it a habit to drink some of the wines we had purchased while exploring Tamar Valley and Coal River Valley by one of the fireplaces.
Service was personal, and it felt like everyone was making an effort to go above and beyond. The included hot breakfast is a luxury, the pastries and tarts sitting in the kitchen are the perfect snack with tea after a day of exploring, and the turn down service in the evening was really special! I don't know when we'll go to Hobart again, but if anyone visits, we will always recommend Islington.
It was amazing ....the staff were great....relaxed...breakfast was great...greg the chef he's food was out of this world...my taste buds didnt want to stop eating....wow...when i come back to Hobart im booking again there.
Very cosy and welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. Probably the best small hotel I have stayed in. Fantastic staff with an attention to detail. Not cheap but worth every cent, represents great value.
Had an amazing two night stay here with my hubby and we both fell in love with the place. The splurge to stay here was well worth it, totally recommend it (we will be back!!) We had the garden room which had beautiful & relaxing views out to Mt Wellington, enjoyed many hours in front of the communal fire place roasting marshmallows while sipping on a glass of bubbles.
Had a brilliant time here. Great location and lovely rooms.
The hotel is a beautifully converted grand house of Hobart, with an eclectic mix of original art in common lounge areas with open fires, more in tune with a B&B than hotel. The service is personal, starting with being met at the car and shown a quick tour. Some of the bedrooms are on the small side, but perfect for a romantic couple. Breakfast is wonderful with chef that will cook your wishes from local produce.
