This YMCA branch has terrible communication and coordination! For TWO times now, I've called to ask whether or not their pool was open, and I was told that it was. When I got there, I was met with nothing but a locked door! They insist that it IS open, but then they tell you that it's only from 4-7 AFTER you get there. One employee, Jacquez, failed to give us the proper information, even after I called ahead of time. Don't waste your money on membership here, find another branch with better employees.
I've been out here many times and always enjoyed it.. Today I decided to pay to visit and I ended up wandering towards a more isolated path. Once you cross that red bridge, I will say one thing, this YMCA back path is a little demonic and spooky..
Usually pretty good however I just finished on a Saturday at 2 and two couples were allowed in without masks. Savannah's mayor said masks were required. Also there was another senior finishi g on treadmill....did not wipe it down and the Ymca employee didn't either. She was on her phone. Went to use machines and saw that people before me did not disinfect. The Y was so conscientious last month....what happen?? I won't be back for awhile. Please listen to Savannah's mayor and SCIENCE. Thanks
Out of town Y visitor, one of the best I've been to while traveling.
Great place to work out for me, not as great for my wife since there is not s ladies gym section
This gym is consistently amazing. Yes, machinery breaks down. Yes, the AC goes out every now and then, but you will have that problem anywhere. They work to get it resolved as quickly as possible and that s all that matters to me. I love this gym and everyone that goes or works there. The Child Watch staff is fabulous; I ve trusted them with my son since he was 5 months old. This Y is very much my extended family and I know I can always rely on them to support me and help me smash my fitness goals. Mr. Simons, Tony (who taught me everything I know and gave me a solid foundation), Jodie, Gails, Karen, Jacqui, Lindsey, Nana... You make this gym what it is and I hold you all in the highest regards! - KG
I disagree with Ben's review about it not being a "ladies gym". Every gym is a ladies gym. They have everything you need to get a great workout in, but yes there is not a room separate just for women. So we can work out throughout the whole gym with their extensive amount of equipment.
It's a fantastic place to walk a dog or workouts ,swimming very nice folks work there great time for all
Such a great place for my grandchildren to go. Even have their birthday partys here.
Great walking trail, especially combined with the Whitmarsh Island Preserve.
The facilities are nice, and the staff is great. I do wish they would open earlier or stay later. And get a sled :)
As others have mentioned. Terrible communication. Also, charged me for their own paperwork error
I also disagree with Ben's review. It's a fine gym with everything you need to workout regardless of gender and size.
Great facility, lots of people who take advantage of the facility, and sometimes that is a bad thing. It can get crowded at times.
Great gym - pool, steam room, well-equipped weight room and basketball courts. Friendly staff - special shoutout to Zach at the front desk! Couldn't ask for a friendlier and more professional employee. Miss this gym.
Website contains no program/price specific information, except for membership. I have to find a way to call during my work day or visit on Sundays when no one is there. It's not their fault, but there are no inexpensive sports opportunities in Savannah for young people, unless you want to play basketball. Hopeless situation, really.
The staff is amazing and the quipment is well kept, the people are really nice. It is a great place to work out.
Great fitness room. Friendly staff. Wonderful welcome desk. Love the pool in summer.
Very nice little 1.5 mile paved trail. It also connects to the state of GA wildlife preserve paved trail which is an additional 2 miles or so... And there are dirt trails all throughout the preserve area for walking or biking... Everything is marked and we'll maintained. It's an enjoyable visit when I do go there on my Onewheel.
Nice play ground for the grand baby. Bike trail and ball field. Something for everyone
The track around th Y" facility is asphalt twisty smooth shaded and scenic. Lotsa trees n birds. Connects to longer loop thru the Woods - can get in a 5 mile loop. Parking. Dirt trails, grass tracks too. Water fountain n one for hounds. Lotsa Live Oaks n Magnolias. No bugs Saw a Copperhead on the asphalt a while back. A couple porta-johns w/ TP = +!
Having been a member of this YMCA for over a decade, this is the first and final time I'll be disrespected for being Asian. I walked in with two of my daughter's friends (who are white) who both have YMCA membership. But after the receptionist (her name was Kathy--and she refused to give me her last name) saw that I was bringing them in, she immediately demanded for paperwork from their parents, giving her two friends permission to be with me. That is absolutely absurd because their parents trusted me with their children. I do not need permission from the YMCA to bring them in. From the Coastal YMCA Website: "At the Y, we are guided by these four core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility." They did not uphold these core values. At all. and "The Y mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all." As a fellow Christian myself, I should not be attacked by my fellow brothers and sisters just for the color of my skin.
