We had a great stay here. The hotel has a great harbor view right in front of it. We had a standard room but they upgraded us for free to harbor view room which was amazing. From 7-10pm they had a bonfire outside where you can sit on a sofa and enjoy the view. We also tried the food at their restaurant grill. The food was good but it was too pricey. You can have it maybe one time if u want to but then there are many restaurants down the lane where you can eat at much lower prices. Overall our stay was amazing. We might stay at this hotel again.

They didn t care that their guests were starving. It was 10pm, kids were hungry after a full afternoon/evening of walking and biking around but no restaurants were open so we got microwaveable food instead at the market. Came back to our room and realized we did not have a microwave! We pleaded with staff to have our food microwaved in the lobby or their break room but they flat out refused saying they cannot microwave food from customers because of the whole covid-19 situation. It was a boxed and sealed microwaveable food from the grocery store and we had kids in the room that were starving. We all had dinner early at 4pm. Went back to the store but it was already closed. Staff did not even compromise or empathize.

Amazing staff, quaint and nice. Attended a wedding and everything was perfect. Historic building kept in tip top shape, would definitely return.

Great location, updated rooms, great view of the marina. Easy was to shopping and dining. Restaurants and bar within hotel as well.

Great views the rooms were nice and clean located perfectly between downtown and open road to explore. Only downside there was a wedding party going right outside our 1st floor room loud drunks swearing and screaming

Great hotel. Best views of the bay, located near the yacht club, close to main downtown area. Rooms will take you back in time, but are very accommodating. Purchase the meal plan, good value.

The ice house is pretty nice, great service and good pricing, great environment overall.

Tremendous visit this week at the Island House Hotel, the accommodation were superb, hospital fantastic and food and drink spectacular. We can't wait to come back.

Can't beat the price if you're staying on the island, and definitely get the included breakfast; it's well worth it. We were a bit taken aback by the maze-esque nature of the building, what with it's disconnected stairways and half flights of stairs, but the room was clean and comfortable enough. If you are someone who enjoys streaming media, think about bringing a Chromecast or other such device as they only offer basic channels. Also, we were a bit let down by the failure of the place to follow through on a birthday romance package we'd bought, so if a champagne and chocolate strawberry surprise is important for you, definitely call in advance to remind the staff to have it in the room waiting for you.

Great location by the park, marina, and main strip. Hotel and staff were also great.

We chose a small room on the 4th floor. It was a great room. Clean and quiet. Very fresh looking. The best part...no flowery wallpaper. We will be back if our travels take us here.

The hotel was okay. Amenities need to be updated. Some just were not available. The rooms need to be renovated. Outside looked great. Make sure you request a room away from the staff break area. We did not get the type of room we purchased and made reservations for in February, our trip was in August.

Stayed here in August of 2019 and had an amazing experience both nights we stayed. Love how it's close enough to down town so you can walk,but far enough away where you arnt around all the people. Room was really clean and comfortable. Cant wait to stay again soon.

Pretty nice place to stay on the island! Really convenient to downtown without being right in the middle of town. It's closer to starline ferry than sheplers ferry. We had rooms on the 4th floor but the elevator only goes to the third floor so the last flight you have to climb stairs that are pretty steep but my mother-in-law managed no problem. We even carried inflatable kayaks up and down without much issue. The staff was great and brought all of our luggage to the room including the kayaks which was greatly appreciated. From the front lawn you have a great view of the harbor with lots of Adirondack style chairs to sit in and watch the sunset and people.

Beautiful setting and view. Small rooms and air conditioner never really chilled the room. Breakfast buffet OK, but not with the $23 pretty person. Overall good, but believe there are nicer places at competing prices on the island.

Great room + they have a real fireplace burning real wood inside the lobby. Has top notch dinning within and lots of unique hang out spots. Does not disappoint!

This is one of my favorite spots on the island and it has lots of old world charm, but the rooms do need some updating as the old world charm is only charming for so long.

We loved our king suite. Perfect for us, with the meal plan. Our dinners and breakfasts were excellent. Staff very attentive even though they were working extra hard as things were ramping up and having to adjust to all the changes from COVID.

Super place, nice people, beautiful porch and good restaurants.

Outstanding property. Well maintained. Great location. Two very good restaurants on site. Plenty of outside seating.
We stay in the same room every time we visit; which is at least once per season.

Worst hotel room that I have ever seen in my life. Wall paper falling from the wall, bathroom floor leaning to one side, air conditioner on top of the head board and broken comforter. I don't think that this room is worth $350 per night!

Stopped by the bar for a few drinks one sunny afternoon - it was a great experience. They let me take the drinks out on the hotel's front porch, and we enjoyed sitting outside and soaking up the views. The bartender was very friendly. Drink list was extensive.

Stayed here first time pretty nice off season rates and great clean room! Pool and jacuzzi a bonus perfect short walking distance to Main Street. Will def be back next year!

Loved all of it! Beautiful hotel, clean room, air conditioning and very nice staff. When our first room had an issue (not serious) they switched us to a different one immediately no questions. Would definitely stay here again!

Loved the hotel and location! Beautiful updated room. My only suggestion would be to turn up the pool temperature. But we'll definitely stay here again!

When I went to the Hotel I was shocked to hear that the 4th floor was "Haunted" so when I got their I asked to stay on the 4th floor and they let me but then I realized that if only one floor was "Haunted" they must have had to have something set up to make it seem it was "Haunted" but besides the haunting I loved the hotel it was the best hotel I have ever been too, the service was AMAZING!!!

Stuck in an attic dormer room. Very small with slanted walls. $200 a night in off season for this. No elevator to the attic. You have to take a narrow staircase. Stay somewhere else!!

Wonderful place to stay very vintage and Victorian. Food was good and staff was super friendly very helpful with suggestions and ideas of things to do

The Island House Hotel overlooks the marine. Beautiful view. Drinks on ponch is peaceful. One of the best places on Mackinac Island.

So the room is good, but few outlets. The issue is that the hotel misplaced some of our luggage and gave us another room's bags. After talking with 2 staff and 2 hours the bags were found, after much insistance. Wish they were more helpful.

It's not the Grand Hotel. It's better! Your not asked to leave if you don't have a suit on in the Lobby or on the Porch.

Room was clean and nice and cool in August. Awesome porch and pretty lobby. All Staff was great. Breakfast was very good and our server was very polite and professional. This is our new favorite place. The BBQ restaurant there, The Ice House, is really good too.

This place is nice to get a nice restaurant in the back outdoor barbecue restaurant the back got a pool it's an old quaint place very nice staff and great view from the porch as your reading your book and drinking your morning coffee

Very nice hotel, retains it's historic charm while adding all the modern amenities.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. They securely stored our touring bikes and gear and then let us check in a couple hours early. The room was clean. Not the biggest, but it is an older building. The free breakfast was good, sort of average diner fare, but portions were a bit small. Then again, our appetites may be a bit large from biking around 100 miles a day for a month. Swimming pool and hot tub were nice.

Great deal on Groupon for end of season. Service was wonderful! The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean!! Some areas smell a little musty, but what do you expect from an 1852 historic hotel on an island?

In the restaurant, there was a little misunderstanding which the maitre d'hotel made right by giving us a table with a view and a free steak dinner! An apology would have sufficed, but that's an example of the amazing service you can expect from this Island Gem!!

HORRIFIC experience- rooms incredibly dirty. Worst dining experience we have ever had. Incredibly overpriced and managment refuses to return a call or email to discuss how bad the experienc was. STAY ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!

Beautiful room. Loved the big porch with the rocking chairs. Beautiful view. Super comfortable bed. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Only thing I would have changed was to have a fridge in our room. Will definitely be back.

Amazing wkend trip to Mackinac Island. I hgly recommend visiting the sland. Not open all year round as the tourist season nly runs from late spring to mid October.

Absolutely lovely. Its a beautiful historic hotel with super cheerful staff. The rooms are small but that wasn t shocking for a historic hotel. The rooms were clean and very nicely decorated. I should have snapped a pic. Ours was white with blue/gray accent pillows and pretty flower print/paintings.

Towels were nice and fresh, bath was a decent size for a small space, all the expected room amenities were there. The fridge was so nice and large with an actual usable freezer. Beds were very comfy. The pool was very nice and open until 11pm, same with the hot tubs.

And best for last, the view was spectacular. We spent a while all three days on the veranda looking over the front garden terrace, road, and harbor. The flowers attracted quite a lot of monarch butterflies and it was relaxing watching cyclists and carriages pass as well as boats coming in and out of the harbor.

Great hotel with scenic dining room and beautiful wrap-around porch. Older Hotel so don't expect the floors to be completely even but that's part of the charm. We will stay there again. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and have excellent steak and prime rib.

Home of the1852 grill house, great ambiance and if you get the oppurtuinty to sit on there porch it overlooks the water. One of the nicest restaurants on the island.

Very good location, close to the center, across the harbor road. Historic, old, romantic and clean hotel. The rooms are a little too small, maybe just in the attic where I stood. Otherwise very pleasant, with very attentive and serviceable staff.

Anniversary dinner at the hotel restaurant. Elk tenderloin was delicious and the piano made for great entertainment.

This is a very nice and historic hotel which is one of the oldest on the island! We were greeted with great hospitality. We opted for the king size regular room which was descent size with a TV and air conditioning. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel as its location is perfect distance from major attractions. In our opinion though, the hotel feels a bit dated. When trying to get a bottle of water at night, the store was closed and the vending machines weren't operable. Otherwise, the two restaurants at the hotel provide great food experience and offer luxurious dining! If you're looking to stay at Mackinac Island, definitely check out this hotel!

Established 1852. What more needs to be said? Charming, friendly, exceptional amenities.

Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Our room was small, but we were only in there at night to sleep.

Deeply in need of an update. Extremely noisy. Expensive for the amount of broken, mismatched, and worn out furnishings. I realize it is an old building, and it is in great location, but it could be so much better with a facelift.

Old style hotel. Close to downtown. Great views. Excellent restaurants onsite. Friendly staff.

Great hotel but you should really come here in the evening for s'mores. The front desk sells packets with marshmallows, crackers and Hershey bars, and you (the kids?) can roast them over the fire pits outside, while enjoying the view.

i am very scared to go to the hotel. because people say its hunted on the 4 floor and room 400 and room 216. but it looks VERY nice and clean. the food looks sooooo good

Went to the restaurant had spectacular service and amazing BBQ.

My daughter and I stayed for a couple nights and loved it. The hotel is incredibly charming. The service was top notch and both on site restaraunts were fantastic. We had a slight bit of confusion on our bill at checkout. The manager contacted me promptly and had it squared away. I highly recommend.

Booked a last minute stay on the Island. Fairly reasonable price for booking day of. Our room was nice and clean and the porter service from the ferry dock to the hotel was great! Only complaint was that our television was a little blurry.

This was my first time visiting Mackinac Island. I understand it's a big tourist spot and about the pricing. However, I felt the room furnishing didn't fit the size; it felt cramped and dated. More than that, many finishes were in need of repair or replacement. Otherwise, the room was clean, and the service was friendly and responsive. Proximity to town was also nice. I have no idea what other places are like on the island, but I'd be okay trying a different spot next time.

Room very good mattress is extremely comfortable with outstanding view. Also the restaurant served great meal salad and fish were very good. Live piano music.

Great hotel to stay at, 5 minute walk to the downtown island. They do have a kitchen with amazing food and a cozy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend staying here.

I stayed here for a school trip for my kids. We had a room on the third floor with an amazing view of the harbor. The room was very neat and clean. Everyone at the hotel was always polite and helpful. I would love to come again.

Hotel was great !! Staff was excellent, package deals are the way to go they make it very simple at reservations. We'll be back again to stay for sure !!!

Great view, close to downtown. A little dated but comfortable rooms. Great service & food at the 1852 Grill Room.
