Law Office of the Public Defender, Broward County Review

I am currently on the phone with this office. The woman has answered the phone, has not even introduced herself. I can hear her entire conversation about her on the side catering business, chicken salad recipe, and how someone from the food network is coming to town. I had said "Hello?" a few times, but continued to be ignored. This is amazing. It's been 10 minutes of hearing all about her catering business and it's making me hungry. Now she just hung up!! Nice job guys.

If I could give no stars I would! The operator there is so rude. I was extremely polite trying to explain to her what I needed and since she was clueless she proceeding to be rude like if I was the one who didn t know what I was talking about. These people need some SERIOUS training. How are you going to tell me that a program doesn t exist if I ve been doing it for a year and then continue to be upset instead of trying to understand. Literally like another review said you are definitely better off with no lawyer

Either public defenders get a bad rap or I must've just gotten lucky getting appointed Garett Faulkender and Greg Wise. They've been nothing but helpful and communicative during a troubling time and they've been doing great work on my case so far. Apart from being highly effective and professional you can really tell they care a great deal about what they're doing and want to make sure justice is served for all parties. Thank you for everything.

I don't know who your operator/receptionist is, but you need to train them on their customer service skills. I called to get in contact with a PD and she starts off with saying "831"..this was my first time contacting this office so I was confused as to what she saying. Then with an attitude she started reciting the lawyers number. After not hearing the last 4 digits I asked her to clarify and she stayed silent until I asked for a clarification again. All of this was done with an attitude. Stay home if you hate your job that much; I'm sure they'll hire someone more competent.

This county does not care about these ppl at all. They treat them as ppr wk and don't give a rats ass about anyone's innocents. I'm talking from the highest bench all the way down to the paper runners in the office. This is all about the money and nothing about TRUE JUSTICE. The proof is the fact that FL has the HIGHEST PROBLEMS W JAILS because no matter if a person is innocent they throw them in jail anyway. The ppl who do it go home w no thought of how they treat and ruin others lives THAT ARE INNOCENT!!! They don't care or even take into consideration of documents sent to them from other ppl HIGHER IN AUTHORITY that know some of these ppl they throwing in jail like trash that have known them and nothing but good to say about them.They throw it away or add to file w/o even researching it or checking it out WHICH IS THEIR JOB!!!! I hope that HELL has a special place for all of them with no hearts, but god don't like ugly and it will come around to their friends or families and lets see how much they lie to the very same system they work for even UNDER OATH !!!! Guarantee u they LIE IN A HEARTBEAT TO PROTECT THEIR OWN EVEN IF GUILTY. All about themselves no one here cares at all about the system or the people. Sadly makes themselves looks worse then the ppl they judge. TRY TO FIND AN ATTORNEY THAT HAS THE BALLS TO FIGHT FOR THE INNOCENT W/O BEING SCARED OF THE FL SYSTEM IS NOT AN OPTION BC THEY ARE ALL AFRAID OF THE SYSTEM. WHY BE AN ATTORNEY AND SAY U CARE ABOUT THE RIGHTS OF THE INNOCENT IF U CAN'T EVEN FIGHT FOR THEM. WORST ATTORNEYS IN THE WHOLE WORLD SADLY.

I was represented by John M. Of the public defenders almost a year ago and I have completed my sentence and been free for about 2 weeks now sadly though I was deported back to my home country for the charges that I took a plea on . Even though everything is done I was curious about what my defenses did and did not do because I felt like I wasn t getting the whole picture- to my surprise he didn t only fail me as a client he lied to me about taking depositions of the officers in my case and provided me false and misleading information and in addition withheld information . I check the events and descriptions of my case online and it showed me that the both the officer had canceled to have depositions taken
* I pleaded out to battery and resisting arrest those were my only charges left because all the other charges were dropped based on no information from the officer . My public defender told me he took depositions of the officer and based on that he believed I obstructed officer liss in some way and recommended I take a plea.
But that I now know is a lie. I m a black male 25 years of age with no real knowledgeable way on how to defend myself and I relied upon the public defender to do do exactly what there title say defend but my attorney did not defend me instead he exploited my lack of knowledge of what exactly is going on and he and the state prosecutor worked in unison to secure a guilty plea even though me the defendant in Question isn t actually guilty of anything and this is a huge conflict of interest by me taking this plea deal neither the state or my lawyer lose in trail and the state gets what they want which is a conviction which I m sure improves her conviction rate.
In this world full of lies some individuals of the public defenders office aren t there to defend anyone only advance their careers and there not defenders their pretenders (please note I m not saying all that all the Public Defenders that work in the office are like this ) .... I m sure no will read this or care to inquire the rest of the underlying detain my case to decide whether or not I m actually telling the truth .. that s life I guess

Worse law office in the USA. If you're charged for a crime in Broward county just go to jail cause the public defenders can't help you. Would give them negative stars as a rating if I could.

When you press 0, or wait on the line for an operator nothing happens... It says 'wait while I transfer your call!' and does nothing...

Zero stars. Akilya drake is a public defender for broward county. Told lies to me to make it seem as if she was trying to help but was actually manipulating my mind. Asked to review footage on my own and she made it seem impossible to give me a copy. All I had to do was go to the police station and pay 30 bucks and they happily gave it to me. Maybe she didn't know that was possible hey who knows but as a public defender handling someone's case you should know that, or maybe she didn't want me to be the case and tried to ensure my conviction.

My husband was assigned Emma Rios as his PP. I have been try to contact her since the beginning of March. . The receptionist doesn't answer my calls. After several ring I get disconnected. Really disappointed.

They are so rude they call you like you owe them something. This lady really tried to beat me getting mad cause she called me yelling.... Sad case of human

If I could give this "legal organization" zero stars I would as it doesn't deserve any! I won't go into details of my case but I had something serious which should have been cleared up with some paperwork which is why I didn't want to spend thousands on an attorney for something that should have been easily "papered" away. What a mistake! By the time my case came due I had been transferred between 5 different public defenders and not one had looked at my case or even knew what was going on. The final one was asking me questions about the law as if I had any idea? That public defender ended up screwing me and making my case so much worse than if I had hired an professional attorney from the start! I also believe the public defender was making sweetheart deals with the prosecutors on the side? So I tell you to save your money, get a second (or third) job or go on a payment plan as your freedom is not worth a few thousand dollars. And ignorance of the law is not an excuse and believe me these public defendants are ignorant. Plus their office is even worse. The secretaries are rude and impatient and that is only if you manage to get one of them to pickup the phone. You have been warned...
