P G hospital is one of the most worst hospital of kolkata. They dont have any management that how to tackle the rush. octors always in hurry to finish their work only but they never worried for their patients. One doctor will transfer you from one to another department and this Marie-go-round game will be go on till the patient's died.

One of the oldest hospitals in Kolkata. It is the biggest government hospital by area in Kolkata. The treatment and diagnosis are free of cost. However, medicines are required to be bought by the patient. The Trauma Care Centre is new and fully air conditioned and hygiene is maintained. However, other building aren't well maintained and cleanliness is a major concern. Treatment is also delayed and with hassle. However, they have some good Doctors in some of the departments and some serious diseases can only be cured here. All in all, it's a hospital for the poor and needy, where you have to put time and effort unconditionally and less guarantee of complete cure..!

It is a super speciality hospital of West Bengal government in Rabindra Sadan locality. People from all over the West Bengal and also from neighbouring states like Jharkhand, Bihar come here for treatment. There are all the departments present one needs. You have to pay only Rs.2 for OPD and imergency services. No cost for parent admission. Operation is also free and the tests are almost free of cost. There is also fare price medicine shop with upto 67 % discount. As lots of patients come here ( on an average 10000 every day in all departments) so giving admission is little difficult for the doctors.

Hospital's have a nursery facility which is also a good side of this hospital. So big big thank you to doctor's of gynecology & nursery dept. Five+ stars for them. But the administration is very poor. The staff of nursing dept, administrative dept in not good. Their behavior is not good at all. No proper information receive from them. So, for administrative dept they got -one star. So, my review is 4 star out of five for SSKM hospital.

Are they doctors or a group of unruly frustrated people? Dr. S.K. mahuiddin ahmmed(Hepatology Room no. 6) [ Fair skinned , large eyes with surma , Long eyes ] should be banned from this profession. I cant believe on my eyes. How he pushed an ill patient from his room just because he was sitting there though his name wasnt called. I cant explain just how horribly ! And the foul languages he said to him , " Beta tujhe kya chaddi pehena k mooh mein chammach daal k bolu , chal uth aur nikal yaha se .. " . A man revoked , " This is the way u treat patients " , he screamed in the top of the voice " Tere ko kuch problem h? Ha hum aise hi baat krte h .. Kya kr lega " and almost went to beat that man. Until the securities arrived and stopped him. He went to his room staring at that man like a cheap common person.
I mean these are doctors. Whom we trust them next to God.
SHAME ! DR. AHMED SHAME !!

The current name of Dhaka PG Hospital is Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
PG-PG Hospital is one of the famous hospitals in Dhaka.
However, not everyone is fortunate enough to get a seat in this hospital and get treatment here. Can you ask why? Firstly the poor do not get seats here for admission the second big political leaders think this hospital is good for their treatment.

Way back in 1707, the first hospital in Calcutta was built in the premises of the Old Fort at Gerstein Place. The Council of Fort William constructed this hospital. This hospital, initially built for the Europeans, was then known as Presidency Hospital. The hospital was accommodated in a single storied building. Later, in 1768, two houses were purchased in Lower Circular Road for converting them into a full fledged hospital. Located near the Presidency Jail, the hospital came to be known as Presidency General Hospital. Doors were opened to the non-European patients from 2nd April 1770. The Presidency General Hospital was best known as PG Hospital till 1954 when it was named in the Independent India, as Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital. The naming was done to commemorate the name of the great donor Sukhlal Karnani. People started addressing the Hospital as SSKM Hospital.

It was then a practice that the Indian medical graduates used to go abroad for studying post graduation and higher medical research. Government felt necessary of opening Post Graduate Medical Learning Centres. PG Hospital was honoured to be the first Post Graduate Medical Institute in Eastern India in 1957.

From 16th January 1957, the hospital came to be known as The Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (IPGMER). The institute was inaugurated by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India, on 16th January, 1957. Since then the institute is best known as a Medical Learning Centre of Excellence and a Specialty Hospital, with the following objectives.

Today, the institution is best known for study of undergraduate, post graduate and post doctoral level medical courses, specialist medical degrees and diplomas, para medical courses, nursing courses in UG, PG and Under school level and is known as the Bethlehem of advanced medical research.

For long, IPGME&R remained solely a superspeciality referral hospital and post graduate medical institution. New landmark sections were added over the years, such as Respiratory Care Unit, The Bangur Institute of Neuroscience. The institute of Psychiatry. Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences. A nursing school in school level and a Nursing College for UG and PG level nursing courses were set up. Later. UG Course on Physiotherapy and a Para medical courses were inducted in the academic curriculum. The institute in the present century turned into Multi Superspeciality hospital with induction of advanced neo natal department, Human Milk Bank, Genomics, Neuro Medicines and School of Digestive and Liver Diseases.

The first hospital in Calcutta was built in the premises of the Old Fort at Gerstein Place in 1707. The Council of Fort William constructed this hospital. Initially built for the Europeans till 1770, this hospital was then known as the Presidency Hospital, after the Presidency of Calcutta and due to its proximity to the Presidency Jail of Calcutta. Later it came to be known as the "Presidency General Hospital" or "P.G. Hospital" for short - the name which is still commonly used. In independent India, the hospital was renamed as "Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital"in 1954 after great philanthropist of Calcutta, Seth Sukhlal Karnani.[1]

P.G. Hospital was established in 1770.[1] The East India Company (Calcutta Council) purchased the plot of land, which was a gardenhouse (in 1768) from Rev. John Zacharias Kiernander at a cost of Rs. 98900.00 along with an adjoining plot belonging to a Bengali Gentleman.[2]

Rev. John Zacharias Kiernander came to Bengal from Southern India in 1758 to work as the first Protestant missionary in Calcutta. The well known Old Mission Church (Bath Tephillah -'the House of Prayer'), built by him was the earliest favourite place of Protestant worship in Mission Row at his own expense at a cost of Rs. 65,000 and established a mission school in the rear of the Church in 1767. The Presidency General Hospital was established near the St. John's Church (presently, in 1, Garstin Place and in its adjoining areas) which was in famous as a hellish side.
