I had a Kidney transplant in January this year. It was a really good experience. Everyone on the Transplant team has been great and they took good care for me. The surgeon explained the procedure so I can understand it and she was very nice and friendly. I felt that she cares about every of her patients to be well. The room I was in after the surgery was nice and big, also the Nurses or the CNA were constantly checking on me. They were always able to answer my questions and explain the medication I was taking. Before I was discharged they made sure I knew my medications and I was able to walk and felt good about it.
I really liked their nephrologists on the team. They would always visit me at the hospital and answer any questions. I enjoyed their visits.
The PA's on the team are awesome, the ones who work in the surgery room and the ones that see you after the surgery.
The Transplant coordinator stayed on top of it by informing me what I need to do and how to stay healthy. She has always been fast to respond to e-mails or calls. Which is a huge plus if you are worried and have questions.
Two suggestions I have to the Center is to continue researching steroid-free immunosuppressive medications so patients won't have to be on Prednisone and research how different foods/tea affect immunosuppresive medications since there isn't much information out there.
They are attentive and make sure I get all the facts before I freak out... I like this place, I trust this place.
