Ok for a day or so...small size but stocked with enough kitchen items to meet the needs
The loudest echo chamber of screaming children you have ever been in, don t expect any sleep. This is not a place of rest, more like camping at water world. Good price, not worth it, but good price.
Too many stairs when you have a kid with a disability
Was ok. Pictures are very deciving. Apparently you can't even smoke on the balcony with is BS. Have to pay for everything extra nothing is free like they say. Fireplace but have to pay for burning logs. Place is a jungle/maze and even with upgrades seems pretty old. Also everything is closed at 9 so having a nighttime swim by the fire like in the picture is a lie guess they think everyone goes to bed at 9 for the price you pay you would think things would be 24hours Hottubs are closed too. Like I said was ok but could be alot better.
I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived here, the hotel is very clean and although not high end have some nice amenities. There are two pool, indoor and outdoor and I saw two or three hot tubs, haven't been in yet. Our room is clean and spacious. Have everything we need and and beautiful view as well. The staff has been great and accommodating. We will certainly remember our vacation here at Christie Lodge!
Horrible experience. No flexibility in their reservation policy. I will never stay there again
One of the most amazing resorts I've visited. From front desk, to housekeeping, and concierge; these folks are on the ball!
Overall good value given the amenities and the proximity to Beaver Creek and Vail. The only issue, which was a likely exception, was how an extremely loud guest above us was able to not shake just our walls, but virtually our entire section of the building as numerous people then complained that evening. In short, the walls may not be as sound proof as one would hope.
Lastly, the construction is indeed odd in that if your room is on the second floor you may not be able to just take the elevator with ALL of your gear but, rather, an additional 2 sets of stairs to your room. The dollies provided ended up being useless for us to get our gear to our door.
I have really mixed feelings about the Christie Lodge, but enough negative experiences that we will not return. The staff was friendly and super-helpful over the phone, and when we ran into issues as soon as we checked in, the Front Desk Manager Adam tried his best, given what our situation was, but it fell below service levels I am used to. I came with my mom, my two bff's, and our dog Tucker, a chihuahua pug, the quietest dog you'll ever meet. lol
I used to be a front desk agent at a well regarded Sheraton, and this hotel would have violated so many of our policies, not to mention possible legal issues. Since I have history as front desk, I try to be really understanding during difficult situations. In the end, we just dealt with all the issues, but I was so unhappy with our hotel pick.
The facilities are dated, but they are currently renovating. We were able to enjoy lunch at the Vietnamese restaurant located on the facility. We also used the laundry room, parking, hot tub, and table tennis equipment. The laundry facility is clean and the machines accept credit cards, though they do have a change machine too. The parking was ample (though we came during low season) but far from our room. The table tennis paddles need replacing. Hot tub was fine, and much appreciated for being indoors. We didn't get to enjoy the indoor pool, but it looked of decent size for families with small kids. The water splashed everywhere though when kids were in it, so I'm glad we didn't stay in any of the rooms right in front of the pool.
Our room was located in the very back, in a separate building from the main one, used for guests with pets. Only until we arrived were we told the pet policy (i.e. no pets in the main building ever) even though we called and asked about it before hand. Actually, this was the reason we picked the Christie Lodge. Disappointing when you claim you are "pet-friendly" but you really mean "your dog can stay in only your room". Also, when we came in to do our laundry, we did hear a dog in the main building, so apparently their "firm" no dog policy in the main building wasn't as firm as it seemed. The pet/dog policy needs to really be hashed out, especially in an outdoors centered destination like the Vail Valley.
Secondly, I also called a week before arriving about needing a room easily accessible by my mother in a wheelchair with a roll-in shower (as opposed to a raised-edge tub), and unfortunately that back building is not ADA friendly. There was no ramp to the room (only a half flight of stairs), and we got a tub. Actually, we were completely downgraded from what we booked, which is the opposite of how we were treated in the Marriott Las Vegas hotel with the same requirements just a day before (their pet policy was awesome and they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite with a roll-in shower). At the Christie Lodge, we went from two beds to one (for four people), which meant my mom and I had to sleep on the sofa pull out. We dealt with the issue because Adam's only options were to put our dog in a dog hotel or pay for a second hotel room. Neither of those options made sense for us because we brought Tucker to keep my disabled mom company while we were away on our longer outdoor trips. Also, as my mom's caregiver, I wouldn't separate her in case she might fall or get injured.
Finally, to add insult to injury, during our 7 night stay, the housekeeping staff only came by to clean our room once, and only after I called 2 days into our stay asking them to come. Instead they came the next day, and never again while we were there. Needless to say, we won't return. Avon was beautiful, but there are certainly a lot of options for better hotels in the area.
Rooms are nice if you got lucky and landed in one of the refinished ones, but... They're not so nice if you're in one of the old ones. Pools are... Almost clean. AC works alright. TIMESHARE PRESENTATION IS DEFINITELY LONGER THAN THE ONE HOUR THEY CLAIMED. Staff is really nice!
We wanted a relatively inexpensive place less than a 15 minute drive from Vail that had a hot tub and kitchenette, and this place delivers all that perfectly. The layout of the suite is a bit odd and awkward, and some of the appliances (like the dishwasher) are very loud. Still, this is a great home base for a ski trip if you don't want to pay an arm and a leg.
Nice rooms, love the pho restaurant that's in the building.
Nice hotel but the building is very long and the elevator is only located at the center of the building, so if your unit is towards to the end side, lots of walking involves.
Beautiful place wonderful staff and beautiful views Rooms are clean and well keep. Checkin was a breeze. Would definitely visit again when in the area.
We have been here before, we h as ve only been here 2 days but enjoying our time. Ask me later.
Clean updated rooms! Walking distance to groceries, wine and beer , restaurants. Clean space and loved the outdoor pool!
Pretty average as condos go. Staff is friendly. Great access via shuttle to slopes OR 5 minute walk Avon lift access via gondola.
Over priced. Not worth the time, spend the money on an activity versus this place.
Although the rooms were a bit tiny this is a very nice and comfortable hotel/lodge. There are 4 very nice hot tubes and two pools and a A LOT of lounging areas throughout the massive wings of the building. Definitely a nice experience for being in either season. There are plenty of BBQ stations and even an area for smokers. Each room was equipped with a porch and nice outdoor furniture. A rather small but conservative kitchen with a nice pull out couch and a very nice bathroom as well. Overall a very clean and comfortable stay for a decent price as well. I would highly recommend staying here.
Only a couple days, but great stay. Nothing fancy, but clean, close, and affordable.
Great price for the location. You can take a free shuttle to Beaver Creek Village or walk 15 minutes to the gondola to the other base area. Rooms were great - I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
The Christie Lodge is much bigger than it looks once you get inside. It has great amenities for the kids including indoor and outdoor hottubs and pools. As well as an arcade room, ping-pong table, and foosball. The staff is friendly if you are an adult, but have little patience with kids (probably because too many parents have let their children run around the place unsupervised). The rooms are clean and provide plenty of fans and air conditioning units in the summer time. The kitchen in the room has a microwave, sink, and mini fridge making it easy to store drinks and make microwavable snacks. It's also within walking distance to restaurants and a grocery store. I would definitely stay here again and have friends that have been staying here for over 18 years.
Decent, clean accommodations.
The good: The rooms have a lot of space. 4 beds plus a pull out couch. 3 bathrooms. The indoor and outdoor pools are great (though not very deep), and there are 3 hot tubs in the facility. Location is nice, any necessities are within walking distance. 4 different pizza place will deliver, too. Views are beautiful, and entertainment is a short drive away.
The bad: The air conditioning in the rooms is a little underpowered and most of the rooms are inaccessible for people who can't do stairs. This also means that you're carrying all luggage up and down stairs to navigate to your room. There's a single central elevator, but you'll still probably hit a dozen or so stairs before getting to your room. Main exception is the first floor. It's not a huge deal, but is a bit of an inconvenience.
Love the renovations!! Staff was very pleasant and helpful!
A little outdated new beds could make it more memorable.
Been going for awhile. Friendly staff, but the have increased rates and the lodge has become very dated.
DONT stay in room 321! Or anywhere near it. The room smelt like subway the entire 6 day stay. We we re on the third floor and subway is on ground level below us. It was absolutely horrible . We had the door open The whole time and it wasn t any better. So we decided to walk across the street to Walgreens and buy plug in air fresheners. It didn t touch the smell . We ended up leaving 2 days early because it was making us sick . The rest of the resort was good but very noisy On the streets. Outdoor hotub was great!
Nice getaway for a week. Friendly staff. We appreciated that they found a way for most facilities to be open with appropriate COVID precautions.
Late night front desk service was efficient but unfriendly. Rooms were clean and well stocked with towels, soaps and kitchen utensils were enough to get you by. Nice location and quiet atmosphere.
Very clean and nice. One bedroom is extremely tight even though it says sleeps up to 4. Would have been perfect for 1-2. Friendly staff!!
Bed Bugs!
Ok so I waited a bit to leave this review because I thought I might need to stay here again. I lived in Avon for half a dozen winters. My housing fell through in mid ski season and needed a place to stay for a few weeks. The Christie Lodge has weekly and monthly rates so it was a clear choice. I paid for a month up front.
After about 3 nights I felt like I was being bitten by something. Wasn't sure what. It became apparent there was a issue. As I went to search the bed I lifted the mattress and seen small bugs running. They disappeared fast.
I didn't want to stir up problems for the lodge so I tried putting drier sheets between the box spring and mattress. Didnt work so I told the front desk. They said they would send up maintenance manager. ( he lives at the hotel).
Maintenance totally denied the ever had a bedbug problem which was the first sign of being BS'ed. All hotel are aware of bedbugs. He looked up images on the net and showed them to me. I said I recognized them. He said he didn't see signs of them when blood spots from being bitten were right there. Then he said bedbugs don't run away.
He then told me I probably brought them in the room and I was to blame. Impossible since I never had them at my apartment and I washed and dried everything before moving there. Our dryer was hot enough to kill bedbugs.
In any event I was forced to stay in that room for 2 more weeks before getting a new place in town.
The Christy Lodge never offered any compensation and wouldn't give me another room. They wouldn't even admit there was a problem. I still have picture of the bits in my phone. (That's what reminded me to leave this review)
This place is a outdated dump and wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
Incredible views at competitive prices.
I ve been pleased with my trip so far, friendly front staff and small touches that make it feel cozy.
There were a few small issues in my room, screen door doesn t lock, shower entry handle is loose and hinges make a popping sound.
I will update my review after I cal maintenance today and explain their response to my concerns.
Great time weather is perfect up here today and enjoying the town.
The staff was wonderful as well as the room! Clean, affordable for the area, and all around an amazing stay. The pull out couch was rough but the indoor hot tub made up for it!
The Christie Lodge is quite old and the rooms seem like a blast from the past. Some of the rooms have been updated and have full-sized fridges and a one burner stove top, but others have the original half sized fridge and more open floor plan in the kitchen. Beds in the non-refurbished Apartments are pushed up against a wall on the side and make getting in or out of a bed awkward. Especially in the middle of the night. On the same note, the beds aren't terribly comfortable either. The staff has been quite kind and helpful. The pools and hot tubs are in great abundance, but like any nice features or cleanliness. Overall, the Christie Lodge is nice but nothing to write home about.
The room was very small. Recommended for about 2-3 people. The bed inside the couch was broken. Called the maintenance and they just laughed. We called again to be fixed, they did it but the bed was itchy and uncomfortable. Very cold. The inside jacuzzis were nice. The outdoor pool was nice too. The shower was pretty big.
The hallways are incredibly strange along with the room footprint, but great place and staff really friendly. Wish they had breakfast though. Can walk to multiple restaurants and the lake as well.
Fantastic experience! Beautiful setting. Great dogs and Mushers!
Clean cozy room with a fireplace. Nice staff. Great access to bus for Beaver Creek Resort (first stop so you could get a seat). Restaurants within walking distance.
Great place with friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped with a wood burning fireplace, and AC in the summer. A pretty well stocked kitchenette too. The layout is definitely a little peculiar with kind of an MC Escher type of feel, but that's not a big deal. Nicely furnished rooms with hot showers and comfy beds.
The room was clean, but the furniture was uncomfortable. The couch, chair, and bed were lumpy and stiff, and the sheets were starchy. the water also tasted funky.
The accommodations were great. The morning staff was wonderful, however after a 12 hour drive there clerk who checked me in treated me very coldly. And when I asked about the location of out room he gave me a different answers so we searched for it or selves.
I went during the off season in April, and were able to pick what floor we wanted to stay on. The rooms were nice and had a full kitchen with cooking supplies, cutlery, appliances etc. The hallways are amazing; there s really cool glass ceilings so you can tan inside in the winter. There are also pools and hot tubs inside as well as out. It s kind of like an architectural maze. Overall really cool. Stayed only one night yet it was the highlight of my trip.
Clean, reasonably quiet. Kitchenette small but serviceable. Nearly full size fridge / freezer, "hot plate" , microwave, pots, pans, electric skillet, dishwasher, plates, bowls, cups, glasses, etc definitely make a longer stay more affordable.
Let's start at the beginning. The reception staff were nice, and they gave us a room and directions to get there. The walk to get there was at least five minutes, down a dated walkway that was probably cool in 1970. There were randomly closed metal doors and single steps to wheel suitcases up and down. Inside the room, we could hear the road clearly, and it was a five-minute walk back to reception to try to get it changed. The other rooms were close to I70. No change. Five minute walk around the hotel to get to the car because the main parking lot was full. Ten minute walk to the room. The sofa bed was really uncomfortable. The hotel building itself is cool but dated. The staff were friendly, the restaurants inside the hotel were convenient.
If your having surgery at the Steadman Clinic do not stay here!!!!! Was lied to upon calling to confirm if facility had easy access from parking to room. This place is all stairs no easy access what so ever.. as well as outdated honestly I don't understand why Avon has not bulldozed the building and just started over It is a horrible site to see when driving along I-70...
Comfortable enough, but the location, although convenient to both the town and the interstate, is kind of noisy - not the peaceful Rocky Mountain solitude you might be hoping for. Almost all the rooms open out to parking lots, and with the balcony door open (which you'll want to do in the evening to let in cool air since the room air conditioners are really noisy and don't work all that well) you'll continually hear lots of noise from them.
Not applicable, place is nice but my visit wasn't staying so I didn't see much, good location, clean lobby, friendly staff
outdated but livable for the price. front desk staff at night could have been friendlier
Really nice renovated rooms. Indoor pool, outdoor pool, several hot tubs, exercise room, ping pong, and friendly staff.
The design of the building is not good. The whirlpools are next to your bedrooms! Stupid!
The staff was very helpful, the facility was clean and comfortable. I stayed during a road trip in the summer, but this would be a great place for a winter sport enthusiast.
Terrible service does not solve any problem.
I do not recommend it
Very nice renovated rooms! Many activities to choose from. Indoor pool, jacuzzi, pool, ping pong just to name a few. I will recommend this lodge to traveling co-workers and family!
Go to this place every year, great facility, with amazing staff!!!
Interesting place, great setup for non couple sleeping arrangements. Lots of space and well set up kitchenette. Fireplace nice touch, as are pool, Jacuzzi and firepit. Not far from slopes and good restaurant across the street.
Nice rooms, ski pickup at the door, very convenient
Very comfortable and quaint, with very accommodating staff.
So, it's definitely not brand new, but for the price it's close to everything and it's very quaint and cozy. The "lobby" or central walkway is wonderful with plenty of seating to hang out and look out the glass roof or sit by the fireplace. The pool is beautiful and there are big hottubs inside conveniently located, I counted 6 hottubs but I didn't walk the whole place. If you're looking for a good bed, and a nice place to hang out with friends or family this is it. You can walk to the Avon River, a number of restaraunts, the grocery store, and many shops. The staff is incredibly friendly and kind and will do anything for you to make your stay comfortable.
Stayed one night while my friend and I were biking through the mountains. The staff were friendly and accommodating to our bikes. Amenities were great for the price of the stay.
Great family place. Layout is very different but that doesn't make it bad. Rooms and all common places very clean and well kept. Owner is always walking around keeping a close eye on things which is phenomenal for guests as if anything is out of place it is taken care of right away. At first it seemed like a negative closing indoor pools and hot tubs at 9pm but definitely it's the exact opposite. It's a positive because rooms are right there and the outdoor pool and tub are open later.
Did not stay here but I ate at Pho20 it's easily the best pho in Avon and the setting is nice. Plenty of tvs for watching sports
Excellent place to share with the family to be alone, as a couple Good location, good attention. I loved!
Stayed at The Christie Lodge in Avon for the first time this past week and had a wonderful time! The lodge is located right across the street from lots of restaurants, bars, shopping, and a grocery store (which is nice because I love walking to places). Our room was very nice and updated and the Lodge offered activities for adults and kiddos. My sister and I went to a wine and cheese happy hour and watched a documentary on the history of Vail, and another day the kiddos got to tie dye shirts! The whole family also took a walking tour through Beaver Creek with our incredibly knowledgeable guide Chris.
This place was kind of neat, but also had the most uncomfortable bedding of my entire trip. A great little kitchen and fireplace, with a nice sized patio thrown in. If I were to describe the place, it would resemble the illegitimate love child of a forgotten mall from the late 80s and a Motel 6.
I checked into the Lodge on crutches and I was received so warmly by Debbie and Christian. They helped me with luggage and put me in a wheelchair and took me to my room. Debbie even brought me pillows and ice! Throughout the week, both of them checked on how we were doing and were so genuinely interested in our comfort. It was a great week--thank you so much!
I'm having real good time with my family there every year
Great location. This is our 5th time staying here.
This place needs a serious renovation. It sits in the middle of prime real estate for the ski community . The rooms are outdated and small, the bathrooms are very small and the kitchenettes are outdated. Was here for a class and used the banquet room. For the majority of the class during the week, you could hear kids running around and screaming upstairs. It has decent access to the slopes, but not prime access. No bars, and two restaurants (Subway & some Thai food place) available for lunch. If you can stay somewhere else for your ski vacation, do so.
The employees are friendly. The rooms are very oddly laid out. To enter, you must go through a bedroom. For a 3 bedroom unit that can sleep up to 8, there is a very small seating and dining , with a partial kitchen. The accommodations are disappointing.
We really enjoyed our stay here! Very cool hotel. Older, but very unique and clean. You can tell they are working hard to update. There's ping pong, shuffle board, 3 hot tubs, an indoor and outdoor pool. Lots of things to do. Every single employee I've encountered has been very friendly. It's been a great experience. Very walkable to lots of nice restaurants and shops.
Everyone was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. It has an unusual layout for a resort/hotel, but otherwise a super place to stay!
Offers affordable lodging, great customer service, clean rooms, clean facility, convenient to City Market grocery and has plenty of parking. We found it to be a convenient location for visiting surrounding areas. Pazzo's Pizza is across the street and there's a Subway in the quarter mile long building. Lots of stairs one elevator. We loved it.
The renovated rooms are fabulous! they remembered every detail, great location, outdoor /indoor swimming pool and hot tubs.
Melissa and Angelica were very friendly and knowledgeable about local information.
The 3 bedroom 3 bath suite is great for a family
However the kitchen living area is minute so don't plan on any serious cooking. There is only 1 convention burner for a stove. But the location is great so get outdoors.
Big important note you must be able to walk easily and climb stairs. It is not easy to get your stuff to the 3rd or even the 1st floor. But the resort staff is so nice. They will have some one help.
Pretty good hotel for a one night, not recommended for a long stay
If you don't have high expectations it's ok to stay.
