Improv Asylum Review

Very small but lovely venue. The actors were very engaged, skits and improv very funny. Takes a lot of skill to put that up on stage.
Ticket price is a lite high und sight was slightly impaired in the back rows.

I've been to improv shows all over the country. Nothing holds a candle to Improv Asylum. This cast is magical. Hope they stay on forever.

Cards against humanity show was sold out at 12am. It was really fun. I enjoyed being in there.

Very funny. Highly recommended. Might be difficult to pick up on some of the humor of you're not from the New England area.

This place was so fun! The comedy was audience appropriate, funny, and entertaining. The performers on stage were witty and had great energy. This is a great event for an evening out with friends, family, or a significant other.

The 11:59pm performance, The Show Against Humanity, is hilarious!

Incredibly funny sketch comedy with fast hip firing improv!

Unbelievably funny. Whenever I have a friend visit from out of town I bring them here, especially if it s a week night. You can t go here and not have a good time. The comedians ask questions to a small audience of roughly 50-70 people and perform hilarious skits on the spot, based on the answers. The tickets are a steal at $10-$20 per ticket. There s a bar in house where you can drink before, intermission and after. So fun! I would recommend to anybody.

Didn't really like it for my age, I'm 39. I felt like it was for a younger crowd

Heard it was the best Imrpov in Boston and it lived up to the hype! Saw the 10pm show and had a great time.

This is an awesome place to go with friends for a night out. They have excellent cocktails and the atmosphere is very chill. I ve gone to a few shows here, but my favorite was an all-improv show on Saturday at 5pm. Be prepared to suggest topics for the actors! If you like to have fun, you should definitely go to Improv Asylum the next chance you get!

Good show, overall good performers but clearly a lot of variance in improv skill. Bar closed at midnight on a Friday which was disappointing.

A worthy and unusual and insane event. Intimate setting with great audience involvement. Comedies work hard to make it fun.

So much fun! Literally can't say enough good things about this establishment. The bar is a very nice touch and the staff is amazing. The actors obviously love what they're doing and if you have the guts being on stage with them will have you talking about the night for weeks. I had such a good time I may take classes there. Highly recommended.

Went to the house teams improv night and it was hilarious. Really funny situational comedy!

Great for a fun trip around the North End with friends from out of town! We had a blast at the 3 pm show and then came back for a free show at midnight!

Great talent, however, it'll take a hit once Bryan Patterson moves to L.A. Bryan' s the man!

Incredible! This place is great! From the front door to the desk, bar, and actors/actresses the people are so great! I've gone too many times to count. On one occasion there seemed to be a slip up on the website when purchasing tickets, ended up with tickets on the wrong date, but they found a way to accommodate our group anyway for a sold out show! Was perfect since my cousin was visiting that weekend! Have gone for both mine and my sisters birthday and they made it something to remember. Place is literally hilarious and priced fair! Oh, and always stay for Raunch!

This is always a great way to spend a few hours! I have been several times and always have a good laugh and a lot of fun!! They have a bar, so go a bit early and grab a few drinks!

Highly recommend. These guys are so talented. Lots of crowd interaction in a fun way. They'd ask someone questions, take their responses, and act it out in a skit on the spot. Id go back again and again

I have been going to this place for awhile now, and every single show is different. A great place for adults to enjoy some comedy after dinner.

I only feel bad that I hadn t gone sooner. My face kind of hurt by the end because of all the laughing and smiling. It was a unique show and I really hope more people check it out!

Went to their 9 or 10pm show (forget which one) with a friend, which was super funny! The midnight show was a little more off-the-cuff improv and was less entertaining, but I had a good time nonetheless.

Super fun date spot. The show is always different and always very entertaining. Warning: if you sit front row they may include you in the skit

What a great date night! Went to dinner in the North End, then the bar here opens an hour before the show starts so you can relax and hang out. The show is absolutely a fun time, and afterwards head to Mike's Pastries for a sweet treat. Had a blast, will definitely be going back for a repeat.

Two of the most fun hours I've ever spent. The Main Stage cast probably has some of the best comedic timing and chemistry I've ever seen! Everyone, from Patty to Joey to Matt to Anne is just immensely talented and my jaw was hurting by the end of the night from laughing so much for two hours! A great experience, and a must visit for anyone in the area looking for something to do in the evening.

The people are good and the atmosphere is great. But 3.5 stars are a good bet

I always have an amazing time here. Each show get's the audience involved, and the late night ones are amazing (get a bucket of beers and enjoy!). Not sure if they still do it, but on Wednesday's you used to be able to buy tickets for the early show and get an all-you-can-eat North End Pasta buffet!

The actors were really funny, especially in the first half of the Saturday show. We had fun and only spent $60 or so.

As a visitor, it was cool to be around so many young, native people in our age range

We attended one of the main stage shows, and both the improv and the sketches were hilarious. Importantly, the cast really seemed to be having fun, which made it more enjoyable to laugh along with them.

We had screwed up our tickets before coming to the show and only realized it half an hour before the show was to start, when they were mostly or entirely sold out. Even so, they not only swapped our tickets for us, but they made special seating arrangements so that we had space and could sit together.

The drinks are somewhat limited in variety and not particularly affordable, but of course they're optional, and this situation wasn't a real bother to us. I highly recommend this show if you're looking for some hard-working, talented comedians.

Went last year for a birthday and we loved it so much we went back again this year! Absolutely hilarious and such a great environment to have a nice time out with friends or family! Needless to say, we'll probably make this our birthday stop next year too!!!

Amazing time! I've been a few times and it's always great. The actors are phenomenal and the venue is cozy / clean. Bar always has good drinks and selection. Staff is friendly and efficient. I would give 6/5 stars if possible.

We had an absolute blast here. Definitely recommend the premium seating for just a few dollars more- you sit front row and are almost certain to be engaged at some point by the cast. We came for the Main show on a Saturday night and will definitely be back for more!

We came here once when we were in Boston for a weekend and loved it, so we went around looking for other improv places in other cities, but they all kinda sucked, so we had to come back and go to three shows in one weekend.

Had a fun night out here. It would get 4 stars if the humour was a little more international.

I've been here twice and it was a fun time both times. I saw two different shows and I must say that the Saturday night show was the best by far, the Sunday night show wasn't as funny. This is a small place so there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Located in the North End it is a great addition to a nice dinner.

Been twice now and one time was definitely better than the other, but that's the nature of improv! Overall, both were entertaining shows. Still have not been to the midnight show which is shorter and raunchier.

Fun show for those interested in seeing your college comedy troupe
...sans the not funny ones...they really only have people good at improv which is fun but inherently not as much fun.

Improv Asylum produces hilarious comedy based on your suggestions. With shows every night, you'll always be amused.

A good drink selection helps too.

Do be prepared for strong language and suggestive situations unless specifically listed as a family show.

Best comedy club in Boston. every time I go it's always something different they keep you on your toes for joy lol I travel every 2 weeks from Springfield to Boston just to see them I couldn't guess a better thing to do on a weekend. Only problem i have personally i feel like the drinks are a little week but that just my opinion some might think there drinks is stronger idk thats a personal prefence. I would recommend this to anyone who love to laugh and just have a great time

My friend and I went to the smash show on a Saturday and it was amazing! Given that this was my first improv show, it exceeded my expectations by far!!

A cheap night out for a few laughs. The actors put a good effort out.

Toilet paper was soft AND strong! Talk about exceeding expectations.

Hilarious group of performers able to liven up your evening or your next corporate event

I give this place a good rating based on a few different things: the locations; the space is an arena theater so all seats are good; the bar. Overall, I found the actors to definitely be energetic and entertaining, if not downright hilarious. I do recommend it for a bachelorette party outing, however. The actors chose my friend, the bride, to be the material for the show for the next fifteen minutes, doing songs and skits based on her answers to their questions. If you can get the cast to choose the bride-to-be in your group, you will be very amused. No place is without its faults and this place needs new bathrooms. The woman's bathroom is old, dingy and way too small for the amount of the people the theatre holds. I also think $25 is a bit steep for tickets. I think $18 or $20 would be more reasonable for what it is.

First time at a professional improv performance! Really enjoyed the performer's enthusiasm. I really liked the part where they interacted with the audience, I think it's especially impressive to think up a sketch right on the spot. Every performer has a relative different persona and I think its a great match.
The place wasn't big, but makes it more easier to interact with the audience.
You can get there by the Train the Hayward market station and walk 5 minutes and you'll be there. The door is next to CSV / Walgreens which leads to the basement.
For check in, I have bought the ticket online, while they said to print out the ticket, it is not necessary since they just check your ID and name at the door. There is a bar downstairs where you can buy drinks for the show, I personally just brought my own juice and seems like they didn't mind. There is about 10 minute mid-time to go get more drinks or bathroom. The whole performance was about 2 hours, but might differ according to the cast / performance. My event was the The NXT Cast (2019). Highly recommend! A lot of couples and friends come to enjoy a good laugh.
