When the show isn't going on, it gets loud and you barely can hear the person next to you. The jokes were ok but only laughed at maybe half of them. If you get stuck behind one of the pillars it is hard to see.

We have attended their shows a couple times, and left each and every time still laughing. Great place to spend the night out. Not too far from the subway so stumbling to and from Improv Asylum is easy. And one last thing is sticking around after the show and grabbing a drink with the cast members is LEGEND wait for it

improv asylum always puts on a fantastic show. the show changes nightly depending on the troupe members that are present and the audience that shows up. expect audience participation as well. the drinks can be a bit pricey.

Everybody should go here at least once!! Great experience, actors/actress were hilarious! Loved how they got the audience involved. I really had a blast here! Great bar service, and really shout out to everyone who plays a hand in your shows. Will surely visit again 10/10

One of my favorite activities to enjoy with friends or make a date night out of. Always felt they put on a quality show that left me smiling and exhausted from laughing. Some nights were better than others, but that's based on the quality responses they got from the audience (Pro tip: Don't be dirty, be creative). They really engage the audience for material to work off of and mix in some of their own pre-developed content. The drinks are reasonably priced and there's an intermission to get more or go use the restroom. Highly recommend catching a show if you're visiting town or live around Boston.

We took my dad here for his birthday on 3/10/2018 and walked out extremely disappointed. The show we went to was the main stage one--a mix of improv and sketch comedy. The sketches tried too hard to be culturally relevant . . . so much so that there were times when they clearly weren't even trying to be funny. If I wanted serious social commentary, I wouldn't be in a comedy club. The actors were stiff and boring overall. And when the improv actually rolled around (the few times it did), the actors looked like they were in physical pain. Half the fun of improv is watching the actors laugh at each other and struggle to stay in character. Instead, their improv skits were barely related to audience suggestions. It felt like they were just performing a sketch that was very distantly related to the suggestion. There were also a few audience groups that shouted and whooped the whole time so that it was difficult to hear what was going on several times. I tried reaching out to the company but received no response. There are other improv shows in Boston that are infinitely better with much better customer service and at a cheaper price point (like the musical one in Cambridge). I don't understand how people enjoy this--maybe they've never seen good improv. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Saw the holiday show. The show was good but not the best I've seen. Less improv and more pre-scripted comedy sketches. The venue was packed and we were stuck in a corner with our monitor not working so it was like we were watching the show from behind and couldn't see some sketches. Pricey for an improv show IMO.

I have been to this place so many times, I have lost count. It is an amazing place to enjoy stand-up comedy that is not scripted. The actors are brilliant coming up with stuff (hence the name Improv).

Definitely a fun place to go out and have a laugh or two. Comedians do use jokes taken from the audiences experiences, so don't get butt hurt about becoming a joke. A bit stuffy during the performance.

We were there for a Tuesday night show where the crew tries out their brand new scripted skits, so the show was half scripted and half improve. The improve was great, we loved the comedians - very talented. Most of the skits were also good and a few not that funny. For $10 per ticket it was a great evening! We also liked the very intimate setting and audience engagement. Looking forward to coming back here next time we are in town.

An intimate stage in the basement. Grab a drink at the bar, it will make their great performance even better. Quite a lot of audience participation, even better if you're there for a special occasion, the cast will make it extra special for you. They have shows starting from 5pm all they way to midnight. You can buy online, but it's cheaper if you just go in to their counter.

If you speak English, go there. Very nice For $ 29 a group of 6 actors will improvisate a series of "gags" for a half hour and a lot. Although they can have a thread, they create the stories with a copy of the audience.

I have never been to an improv show just stand up but I was looking for something fun to do with my 15 year old besides the same old stuff. They are hilarious, extremely talented and you can't beat the price! Highly recommend especially where you do not have to be 21+ it's a great idea for an older teen. We had so much fun and didn't stop laughing!

Definitely a great time. The improv crew was funny, included the audience, and didn't hold back. Drinks, while not cheap, weren't overly expensive, as one would expect off Hanover street, and had a pretty good selection. (You could buy a bucket of beer!) The cost of the show wasn't bad either and if you call ahead you can get someone in your crew involved in the action. It is a little hot in there though, so be prepared.

Best improv I've ever seen. Good combo of sketch, improv, audience interaction, and a unique stage with the audience sitting all around the center performing space. The show seemed sold out so getting tickets ahead of time online is probably advisable. This show was definitely the highlight of our trip to Boston.

The show put on here was a once in a lifetime experience. The preformers are very talented and extremely personable, which is important due to their use of the audience during their act. The only negative thing about this place is that the drinks are a tad pricey, but you don't need the drinks to have a good time.

I bought two tickets to the 10PM Friday show on a whim and I am so glad I did! I had no idea what to expect before the show started but it was a great time.

The cast is incredibly talented and very invested in doing a great job. The supporting staff was professional and helpful. There was an unfortunate incident with a very drunk patron who threw their phone on stage. The staff handled the situation beautifully you barely noticed.

The prices at the bar are reasonable and they move quickly to get everyone served before the show and during intermission (bar shuts down during the show). The lines may look long but the waiting area is small so the lines aren t actually that bad.

Would definitely go back for another evening show.

I went there twice, Friday night and Saturday night. Very funny. Part of the show is scripted and the other part is Improv. I like the combination. For a good show in Boston, $33 is an excellent price. You can stay for free for the midnight show if there are still unoccupied seats and the midnight show was very good as well.
