Dealing with Illini Nissan was a fabulous experience! The staff was very knowledgeable and did all that they could to make our car buying experience go smoothly. Nathan Essick, in particular, went above and beyond our expectations to help us get the car that we really wanted. I would recommend this dealership to anyone!
In July my family purchased a 2011 Nissan Versa for our teenage son, and a 2012 Nissan Versa for me to drive back and forth to work. The 2011 is a automatic with the CVT transmission, it does wonderful and we love it!
However, the 2012 is a 6 speed standard shift that does not run or perform well at all. The sticker states we should expect to get 26 mpg city, and 31 mgp on highway, we are barely getting 24 mpg average, with 95% all driving highway miles. Within a few weeks of driving it was very noticeable that something was not right with the 2012 Versa. I took the car back to the dealership and was told by the salesman who sold us the cars, Zac Patterson, that it's unfortunate we didn't like the performance of the 2012 but that he wouldn't be able to help us until after we had the car for at least 2 years. I finally stopped driving the 2012 and went back to driving my 2005 Dodge Durango that gets comparable mileage to what I was getting in the 2012 Versa. According to the dealership and salesman, this is typical of what we should be getting out of this new vehicle that had a window sticker for fuel economy of 26/31 mpg.
We made one more attempt to see if the dealership would help remedy the situation, and so far this has not happened. They are suggesting we go to a Ford dealer in the area instead.
I want to stress that the 2011 Versa is a great running car that performs and gets the fuel mileage that has been estimated. However, the customer service at Illini Nissan is very poor to non-existent. This has been the most disappointing purchase we have ever had the misfortune to make. I suggest that if you want service after the sale, go to another dealership, this one will leave you hanging and will not stand behind the products they sell when there is obviously a problem with the vehicle.

I drive over fifty miles to bring my Altima to this service department. They are the best. They are always courteous, explain things thoroughly, and fix things that my local shop can never seem to figure out. I know when I bring my vehicle here, it will be serviced correctly. I never have to wait long, either. If I need to go someplace, the shuttle is a nice touch.

Illini Nissan is very good place for me. It is easy to schedule the service, everything goes pretty fast and the personal is very polite and knowledgeable. I would recommend this place for car shopping and for car service.

They do excellent work and always keep us informed with honest opinions and consult us in what needs to be done WITHOUT pressure. :) I also like how they keep us updated during our appointments. Loved that they said they would run it through the car wash for me, which I was so thankful, because I was going to ask and forgot. Bonus points!! ;)

I was searching and test driving different models from different brand, but none has better sales attitude and profession than Masha at Illini Nissan. They offer very fair price and are very professional. They didn't try to hide any discount information from you and offer the best options. If you are looking to buy a fair-priced vehicle at Urbana-Champaign, I'd definitely recommend them.
I have been bringing my Nissan here for service while in grad school. Gary and everyone else in the service department is very helpful and I have always been happy with the work done on my car. A part was needed that they didn't have, and so they overnighted the part and offered me a free car to drive in the meantime. They are also great for working with students as they offer a student discount, which is greatly appreciated! I highly recommend using Illini Nissan!
Had the tires replaced on our Nissan Versa. Was told that the tire sensors were fused to the wheels and would be damaged when the tires were replaced. We opted to not replace the sensors because it would be too much of a cost for a feature that we considered non-necessary. However, upon picking up our car we were told that the head mechanic took a look at it and was able to replace the tires without damaging all but 1 of the sensors! And they simply replaced that 1 sensors for us for free.
They do a great job of serving the car while letting us know when to expect expensive replacements (like the tires needing to be replaced). We knew we needed this 6 months ago so it didn't come as a shock.
Very slick dealer! DO NOT TRUST THEIR RECOMMENDATION! I was there for oil change. They told me that there is a big maintenance service due on my car. I was in a rush that day so I don't have the time to ask about details and told them I would come back. A few days later, I called them to ask about the service. It turns out that they are trying to get me do the 60K mile service when my car is only in its 55K mile range. This makes me question this dealership's honesty and professionalism. I don't know if I can trust this dealership with service recommendations anymore. I would understand if my car is close to 59K. But my car has another 5k or at least a good three month before it needs to get anything done! There is a reason why people call it "60K mile service"!!!
I own two Nissan vehicles; a Frontier and a Quest (purchased just a few days ago). I have had dealings with Illini Nissan over the past 5 years and I am not only pleased with their service department (especially Gary) but also with their staff in general. I have found them to be professional and competent.
Whenever I have had worked done, whether replacing a transmission or an oil change, Gary kept me informed and updated regarding parts and the time when the car would be ready.
I would recommend Illini Nissan for the driver of any make of car, with the exception of a Lamborghini (you probably have your own mechanic living on the estate).

My wife and I showed up at 5:45pm on a weeknight and were greeted by Mike Beth, who was very pleasant to work with. There was no hard pressure to buy. We did three test drives before negotiating for a 2015 Nissan Rogue. We went with our own financing but they had really good financing options, as well. We were not kept waiting around for hours and had a deal pretty quickly.
Excellent buying experience--would definitely work with them again! My wife is thrilled with her new car.

Gary was able to get our car scheduled to come into the shop promptly and my car was ready for pick up from the shop well before the time I needed it back by. We bought a used car from **Scott Whitlock** in the Subaru building. He is super easy to work with, and maybe does internet sales. Note the mirror on the exit door to the building. It's for their people to check their appearance before meeting the customer. Something their founder thought was important.
**Kim Sullivan** in the Finance dept. is very professional and competent, and honest.
Oh, and they throw in a tank of gas when you buy a car. Don't know if everyone does that.
They sell you for the repeat sale, and the long term relationship.

This was my first Nissan purchase, and it was a wonderful. experience. Barbara Castellari is a delightful salesperson and truly interested in me as a satisfied customer. She and Kim (finance mgr.) made sure I got a very comfortable deal, and made sure I got moneys due me from the other dealership on the car I traded in. Everything went very well, unlike most dealers. Got the vehicles we wanted to look at. After selecting one, went for test drive, came back and did numbers, which didn t take long. Made it very easy to come to a deal. From start to finish we were done in half the time that it would ve taken in other dealerships.
We had an unexpected break down with our previous vehicle, a 2000 Infiniti. Turns out it needed a new transmission. We were in a wreck, totaled our Nissan Juke. The Juke kept us safe, and, we decided the next car would definitely be a Nissan. We picked out a car, but, unfortunately, it was sold. We found another, and the sales team handed us the keys to our brand new car in an hour's time. They were on a mission with us, and we felt as if we were the only people they were helping. If everyone gets this treatment, this place is spot on the best.

Our new Pathfinder's battery died after just one month. Illini Nissan swapped it out and checked for any electrical issues for free. In and out in about an hour.
Scheduled an appointment at 4 pm, but I was told that it needed to be switched to morning after I arrived. $130 for an inspection and they are not sure if they can find the problem...

Just bought I car I was interested in but open minded about other options. Never felt any pressure to make decision, let me ask questions about what I wanted to know instead of dealer trying to control conversation. Pointed out problems and features I might have overlooked but no "sales talk about Wesley's particular judgment about car, respected my knowledge about car and gained my respect quickly about his willingness to help me by going over carfax without make judgments, pointed out pros and cons of financing choices, left me in control of my decision and timing. NO pressure, discussion, conversation and mutual respect. Negotiation for price was treated with respect and fairness to both parties. Left without the usual buyer's remorse, instead satisfied with a business transaction; always treated as a person and not a potential profit source. I actually hope I can buy another car from them.

Was a little apprehensive about purchasing a new vehicle from a dealership in the champaign-urbana area. Have heard a lot about the high sales pressure, and I do not like that. We have bought all of our cars from 1 dealer in Attica, IN since back in the early 80's. Originally from Vermilion county, Bismarck.Gave them a call and showed up on a Monday, let them know what we were interested in, they showed us some of the vehicles that they had and we took a test drive, they asked if it was OK if they went along, we said sure. In Attica you are just handed the keys and go for a drive. Our sales person was Bei Lin, a little hard to understand but not bad, she is very friendly. I am proud to say that this dealership hits the buttons on a small town type atmosphere, no hard pressure, very polite, and they make you feel right at home.Nice laid back and casual atmosphere. They did a search for the Versa note that we were interested in, got it and picked it up 7-12-13. Very pleased. If I ever wanted to be a car salesperson this is the place I would prefer to work, you feel like home there. So if have not ever been to Illini Nissan, or are considering a vehicle give them a shot I am sure you will pleasantly surprised, and you will walk away with a great feeling and a new car. These guys rock! Lou and Andy got to talking to me as I was waiting on my service to get done about a month ago. They asked me how I liked my Rogue. As I was telling them how great it was they pointed out that near new cars make great trade ins. This weekend I pulled out of their shop in a new Juke Nizmo. Very cool car! Didn't have to spend much because of the great price they gave me on the trade. Professional team, fun, and they listen. The great cars don't hurt.

This was the first time I was buying a car and the experience at this dealership was great. I bought a new Nissan Altima 2013 Sedan and I'd like to thank the staff especialy Weiss and Andy for giving me comprehensive details about the car. I had specific set of requirements for my new car and even though they did not have that type in their large inventory, they went out of their way to contact another dealer and get the car of somewhat same specification and still gave me a good price. Moreover, their complimentary 3-to-3 program for 3 years of free oil changes, tire rotation, etc. is unbeatable. Besides that, they were courteous enough to allow me to take few more test drives just so that I can make a good decision.
Look no beyond. If you are near Champaign/Savoy/Urbana, this is the best dealership you can get.

It seems that this service dept doesn't like to help travelers. They know that people are stuck and aren't willing to go the little bit extra to help.
When driving home our BRAND NEW tire popped (have only had the rogue 1 month). They didnt even want to take a look at it to see if it's a manufacturer defect for the manufacturer warranty (they claimed there wasn't one). They also didn't want to go get a tire (we were willing to pay even), and they wanted us to stay an extra day in town (we have work tomorrow and absolutely can't call out). We ended up calling our local nissan dealer who told us it absolutely does have a manufacturer warranty and they should have looked at it. They explained that they know we are travelers and are basically at their mercy. We ended up going to tires plus who was willing to go get the tire, and even paid more.
As I wrote this our nissan dealer just called us from home to make sure we are getting taken care of. I would completely avoid this dealer in champagne..their sales may be good but their service dept could have tried harder.
