The first Management B-school in India set up in the 1950s and therefore has a lot of heritage behind it.Its usp is its faculty which is better than IIMs as claimed by many.However the placements are average.

Very good college.faculties are good.classes are air conditioned.several cultural & social festivals are arranged during session.very good institute.

IISWBM was constituted on 25th April 1953 by a resolution passed by the Senate of the University of Calcutta. This was the culmination of the joint initiative taken by the University of Calcutta, the Government of West Bengal, the Government of India and the captains of industry in India to set up for the first time a management education institute in India, a concept alien to many in the educational fraternity at that time.IISWBM, the first management institute of India, was thus established by Dr. B.C. Roy, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal as its Founder-President and Prof. D.K. Sanyal as the first Director. The Government of India, Department of Posts in recognition of 50 years of glorious existence of the first B-school in the country, released a Commemorative Postage Stamp on IISWBM, on 25th April 2004 in New Delhi.

First college in India offering the much coveted MBA degree.Affiliated to Calcutta University.Although it has lost its old glamour due to advent of IIMs and other comparatively newer MBA colleges,but its still a good place to study compared to the lesser-known,expensive private management institutions.

Worked here for sometime long time ago. Every year many students graduate from here in Management Studies with specialization in different streams including HR. It has good teachers and facilities. Hopefully placements of students should also be good.

It's a very good B school in India. Just beside MD. Ali park. And behind of Calcutta University.

Business schools don't create successful people. They simply accept them, then take credit for their success. The Degree will definitely be valid if an institute is AICTE approved .But that does not make the student employable .

I don't know much about this management institution's quality.

I could share my view of the 2008-10 batch as I was from that batch - MBA day 2 yr MBA.The Faculty was by far the best in Finance ( I have KKR sir in my mind).Marketing faculty was good.But MBA HR guys were unfortunately paying a lot more for the course but was getting the same placement as that of MHRM guys who were paying less - hope this has been corrected.Many of the faculty even went on to join IIMs.However,in terms of placements,the institute has scope for improvement as it could approach the alumni and industry contacts more aggressively because many companies go to Army Institute of Management (in my opinion,the 4th best mba college in Kolkata after IIM,IIFT,IISWBM) first & then to IISWBM - which could be pre-empted with an aggressive placement Head and team.Proud of my Alma Mater anyway.

One of the Premier and Oldest B-School of India. The institute served as the mentor institute of IIMC and IIT Dhanbad. The quality of teaching and placements are very decent with attractive ROI.
MBA and MBA(HR) are the two best courses. They take CAT scores for admission in MBA and MHRM.
The MBA(HR) course is one of the top HR course in the country with SHRM Virginia accreditation.
The courses are affiliated by University of Calcutta (Tier 1 University) and AICTE.

Experience at this premier institution has been overwhelming in every aspect. Having been part of the MHRM 2015-17 batch I was fortunate to have studied under one of the finest faculties. Located in the Eastern part of the country placements have been really challenging but in the near past placements have improved drastically and is seeing a steep upward graph. Having said that the infrastructure of the oldest B-School in the country needs drastic improvement so does the examination structure and the pedagogy. Like most of the premium B-Schools in the world the approach should be more case study based and industry oriented rather than being academic. Hopefully with the advent of the new campus and expecting that the courses would be residential things would change for the better.
However my journey at IISWBM has been overwhelming , a place which has given me my first job, a place where I have met one of the most knowledgeable faculties and above all it was an unforgettable learning experience.

I have done my Post Grad in SCM from IISWBM Kolkata and it is a very good Institute with
good Professors.

IISWBM is a leading B- school in India. It is located near College Square on one side & Md.Ali Park on other side. It admits students to its 2 year full time post graduate management diploma course through CAT Examination score. It is well connected through road & Central Metro Station is near to it.

The Oldest Business School of the country and one of the best Business of the country. Fantastic Infrastructure and faculty is also good.

IISWBM, the first management institute of India was established by Dr. B.C. Roy, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal. University of Calcutta, the Government of West Benga set up for the first time a management education Institute in India. IISWBM boasts of state of the art infeastructure, strong faculty based, successful alumni, excellent hostels, rich library and placement records.

I did the part-time degree programme under Calcutta University from this Institute during the years 2001-2004 and I must admit that the professors were quite knowledgeable. We had quite a lot of faculty with Industry exposure and the blend of academics coupled with industry helped us learn in depth. The course content was also pretty structured and encouraged in depth studies.
