Duty Free Liquor Store in Jose Marti Airport is on...

Duty Free Liquor Store in Jose Marti Airport is one of the most price cheating place in the World. How to avoid (a) Take a piece of paper and write by item and its cost printed on it. Add them before you go to the counter. Show your list and total at the beginning of giving the items so that the cash register person can't have a different total - 95% of the customers are cheated who buys more than two items. Also tell in advance that you do not want plastic bag unless it is free or you do want to pay about $1.50 for each . Same problem in the eating places too in the airport as well as out of the airport in many restaurants. As soon as they see that you are careful and keeping track - you should experience no problem

It is a precarious airport, before pre-boarding there are only 2 coffee shops with short supply and tables. The women's bathroom on the second floor was broken and the one on the first dirty. There are some souvenir shops. The immigration and customs staff is not very friendly.

Probably one of the worst airports that visited. By the size of the Bykovo type, very weak infrastructure. Upon arrival, long waiting for luggage, huge queues to the exchanger, to the city minimum rate of 25 Seuse, but with many manage to rip off and 50. When flying duty free fries very weak, with the result that they will also cheat. The buffet is also very weak, their rancid sandwiches may not even have ketchup - they will say it's over, but they have not delivered a new one yet.
But nevertheless, it's still the front gate of Cuba.

A certain Aysladen or something like that Air France staff for check-in as possible as possible. Took me high when checking in because my luggage is not properly closed. We had to bring in her manager who apologized for her.
You cannot pay in BC for food even after passing security. You no longer have CUC? You stay without eating! Attention the most comical there is not even a distributor! Too bad for them I had lots of cigars to buy from them.

In this airport, mostly incompetent people work with a tremendous lack of ethics. It can be seen in their faces that they have no desire to carry out their respective tasks from the first person you meet when you leave the plane to the last customs heavy that they put on the door at the time of departure.
If you are a Cuban who travels, they treat you like wild animals and without any professionalism. In my own experience, some are thieves and they take things out of your suitcase and do not even think of claiming anything because they make your life a yogurt. They shamelessly stole a new Versace perfume and then one from customs had me open my suitcase and confiscated a package of coffee because, in his own words, "something had to be taken out of his daily struggle ..." these people are rubbish, lack of ethics and everything.
Filthy, soapless baths for hand washing. The floor tiles were some messed up and the ceiling had a lot of dust that made the airport less attractive.
The airport is quite disorganized and well it lacks a lot to reach the standard of many of the other international airports outside Cuba.

.......Surprising-lii it was nothing that we expected it to be! On arrival we cleared customs within 10 minutes! The airport was crowded but it was easy to spot our arranged taxi as the driver had our names and flight number on an A 4 page clear-lii written! There is only one Money Exchange kiosk outside but even this was easy as I was number 2 in the queue, the only let-down was that if you exchange US$ they charge you 10% but if you exchange Euros or Pounds No charge??? Another Strange phenomena is when you get outside one would expect to be met by all the Old American Cars But No! You are overwhelmed by All The Yellow-cabs giving you the impression that you re in New York! So Amazing! On our departure it was again easy! But! Nowhere else in the world did it ever happen? My wife was Asked if she has a pacemaker because they needed to Ex-ray her!...????? Again it exceeded all our expectations as we read in many different books & on the internet before our departure that they won t allow to many electronic devices! They allowed us without a question asked we had our iPhones, iPads and our DSLR cameras....We will love to return to this amazing place where we learnt so much from the people of Cuba!.....

Contrary to my expectations no bad airport. Although very small with a clear departure area and only a handful of gates but there is even a supermarket available. The entry was quick and easy, even the baggage claim went smoothly and I had my suitcase after 15 minutes. Currency exchange without problems.
Check-in at departure is also relatively quick, passport control and security check in less than 30 minutes, the waiting area at the gates has enough seats for the passengers.

Welcome to Cuba, Its quite small airport with lots of tourists. There is only 1 money change point at the airport. I waited for an hour to change the currency. To reach the city taxi cost you 25 to 30 CUC (25 to 30 US Dollars ), I suggest you find a people so you can share the taxi and will be cheap.

There are a lot of fantastic destinations. Do not fly to Cuba and expend your vacation in that place. This airport is catastrophic, no air conditioning, long lines, always crowed of people in the waiting room. Expend your money and your vacations in a better place. Cuba is very expensive and service in all locations, resorts, etc, are suck!

Pretty messy.

Pretty messy.

Very strict security check (take off your shoes, etc.) that is carried out by young women in tight uniforms.

Departure even more chaotic because the switches are closed and opened depending on your mood, although people are still queuing. Had to change the switch 4 times.

You have to take everything with humor;) is Caribbean ..

After all, the luggage always arrived at the right place.

Airline counters, immigration, baggage inspections...

Airline counters, immigration, baggage inspections, currency exchanges, duty-free shops, all of which are lined up and take time to respond.
You may be able to call a taxi driver in the arrival lobby, but if you carefully check the market price and tell it, you can get a reasonable price reduction. There is a bus stop nearby, but it is very crowded because it is for local people, so I think it is difficult to ride with a large bag.
When I returned to Japan, even if I arrived two hours before the flight, I am wondering if I can board safely because there are long lines everywhere.
After leaving the country, there are some shops that look like supermarkets, and you can purchase sweets for spreading in the city and alcohol such as rum. There are also various cigars available, and you can buy them while checking your taste.
Choi Guevara T-shirts should be bought in the lobby before departure procedures.
When leaving the country, if you are unlucky and the timing of the arrival flight is in time, the money exchange in the lobby will be in a long line and you will have to wait for an hour or more, but there is a money exchange counter after the immigration check, so you can change it there, It's a good idea to buy a souvenir and get your change for US$.

One of the worst airports in my memory. There is no "sterile zone". If you fly in transit, you will still have to go through the border, customs, and even get baggage, since the Cubans are unable to organize baggage transfer from flight to flight. Either there were not enough movers, or they were too lazy, but they got 40 (!) Minutes of luggage. Moreover, the plane was a B-737. So it s worth laying a transplant for at least three hours.
There is practically no catering, in a single stall they give out heated sandwiches. For a package for alcohol in dutik take an extra charge of 1 doll.
At the special control they force everyone to take off their shoes, they even demand to take off their flip flops, and they did not even put a rug on the floor, not like shoe covers.

One of the most confusing airports I've ever been in... and I don't know what was more confusing, arriving or departing. Upon arriving, clearing customs had to be the easiest customs process I've ever been through. I mean, they don't even talk to you. The first thing people usually want to do when they land is exchange currency, it was pretty confusing to figure out where to do this and by the time we had gotten there, the line was insane. There were a couple spots that indicated they did currency exchange, but only the one near the exit actually did and our driver had to walk us back into the terminal to show us where to do this. I *highly* recommend doing this at the airport -- they gave the BEST rate as the only other place we found to do this in Havana was the bank... which had a TERRIBLE rate, an incredibly long line and has bank hours (aka, terrible hours).

All the stores sell souvenirs, t-shirts, and some food.
They arrested us for not having a record that we entered Cuba. We went 1 week as tourists. After a while they let us pass.

Nice construction and facilities. In migration they are friendly. If you park by car, the entrance is on the ground floor, so you must go up one floor to check-in, sometimes the elevator or the escalators are not useful and nobody helps you with your luggage. The waiting rooms are showcase type and give a nice view while you wait

It is sad to constantly see how Cubans living in other parts of the world are divided with other foreigners when we arrive on flights to visit our loved ones. They mistreat us with rss division that our Woman or vice versa realizes why foreigners on the one hand and us on the other. From there they check us and weigh everything, while the international enters directly. They should solve this bad practice

The airport itself has been around for a long time, but I did not feel like it. My baggage came out in about 30 minutes, but I had to exchange taxi fare at the currency exchange counter and wait for an hour. I was sweating even though it was early in the morning. Then I came back to Mexico City again later, but check-in procedure was so too slow that I thought I was going to die.

The image that the airport gives you when you are received is very different than when you leave the country, slow entry and a somewhat neglected and small place where the receptors are ... Very different is the panorama when you leave, it is a more renovated airport, with stores, freshoop with products more than anything national. Outside the parked classic cars give you a beautiful welcome to the country that you will visit in the coming days during your stay.

- a small airport with few flights but more chaos.
- The check-in is staffed with few staff, as well as the currency exchange etc.
- There are no sandwiches in the entrance area etc. (only water, biscuits (!!!), cigars and souvenirs) - here you have to the first floor and has two snacks with a small selection available
- the customs with the examination of the tourist cards is absolutely unfriendly (fourth visit and thus I can judge here)
- The security check is "strict" (take off shoes, etc.), absolutely unfriendly and in their way of working anything but thorough (about 20 ladies are at 2 security switches, but it takes forever)
- at the gates it's just full (a big hall)
- There are toilets, but they are not clean (despite staff)
- Plus point: the airport is air conditioned

Since I am away from the city, I have to go by tax...

Since I am away from the city, I have to go by taxi. The price seems to be decided to 25 CUC. But there are many drivers who demand higher price than that. Even if you ask the hotel to pick up and transfer, it is 25 CUC so you can save time and effort to negotiate with the driver. There are many places that falls in terms of facilities and services rather than airports that we think generally. Many people say that the price of souvenirs in the city and the airport does not change, but as a result of my comparison, the rum is the same, the coffee was as high as 1 CUC on 1 KG basis. The coffee of 1 KG was about 14.40 CUC. 500 g of Cuba honey is very cheap at 2.7 CUC. However, if it is overturned with a carrier bag, it will leak even in a sealed state so let's put it in a plastic bag etc. Immigration checks and baggage inspections are crowded late, but it is not as good as Russia, so it is OK. When you leave Japan, WIFI is located at the gate from the end of the departure examination, so it is a good idea to take a WIFI card.

The Havana Club pricing in the control area is all more expensive than the control area, all (2019.10). If you want to buy it last time and don't want to buy it, please buy it and pack it before you leave the customs.
In addition, the airport can sleep but there is no Wi-Fi outside the control area and it cannot be charged.

Obviously the conditions are understood by the country, you just have to be careful because I wanted to pay a flight by credit card, not accept (2017), I thought there if you accept it, I had to use my last pennies and just complete.
I had to stay there that night and the staff is very friendly, one of them even got a chocolate gift also because there is always cafeteria and when they open a space that is adapted to that there are very few options.

As a Cuban I feel sorry for the total deterioration of all the facilities that are made available to the people, see the disinterest in giving good service and the poor state of these facilities after a while. The jose marti international airport is a living example, everything is super dirty, there is no where to drink water while you are waiting before passing customs in such a warm country, the treatment of the staff is terrible work without any encouragement and for those who visit frequently the country can realize that they constantly change the staff since they are corrupting due to the needs they have. This entity is the first impression that the visitor receives when arriving in the country and nobody cares, it is usual to arrive and have to fight for a cart to move the imported merchandise. You just have to see the condition of the air conditioning pumps, the dirt that emanates from them, I will leave photos, the filters must take years without maintenance and are a source of Legionella surely. The worst dear readers is that although the authorities read this article will remain the same, good service is not a paradigm in our country unfortunately.

Obliged to do all the rigorous checks despite only having to do technical stairs and not get off the plane. Only one detector so it was not even a quick thing. A smell of fried that seems to have ended up in a fryer.
The sound system is one of the poorest ever seen in my life: from under the speakers I could not understand what they were announcing. If this must be an international airport, I think I can open one in the backyard of my house.
Service ridiculous and rude staff.

First of all, I m Cuban, and it s very sad to see that the HAV is a mess!!! An international airport is the first impression for tourists, and HAV it s not really a good one!!! The staff is (mostly) pretty rude, not to mention that they always look for ways to get your money. The airport is quite dirty and you have to wait 1 hour or more for the luggage, even if the airport is not busy. I sincerely hope this situation changes soon... As a Cuban, I know they can do it better!!!

About IATA

IATA: The International Air Transport Association

IATA, or the International Air Transport Association, is a global trade association that represents and serves the airline industry. Founded in 1945, IATA has its headquarters in Montreal, Canada and has regional offices located all over the world.
