Experience the difference between a small beautifully run family- run hotel and a successful hotel chain: it s that warm family feeling that makes the difference, you really are a special guest in Hyland s because of the hands- on owner and his enthusiastic team. And the bar is a wonderful meeting place, ideal for meeting new people and sharing advice and experience about the Burren and all its attractions. Really enjoyed our time there, we will be back.

Great place. Clean, Quiet room with LOTS of hot water!
Great fire in the evening and a nice pub with great food (I recommend the Hake)
Very helpful and friendly young lady at the front desk (a pretty Irish lass from New Orleans!) that helped us with our elderly uncle.

We had our wedding at the Hylands hotel last summer and could not have better things to say about it! Our guests came from all over the world (NYC, London, LA, etc) and were amazed by how clean and nice the hotel was. The owners go above and beyond in every way. Leading up to our wedding, we stayed at every lodge in Ballyvaughan and this one definitely takes the cake. We cannot wait to return someday!

My stay here was pleasant , my room was lovely and the staff were very friendly. The only thing I would have to say is the shower needed attention other than great place to stay for anyone travelling through :)

Staff is helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean and generally very pleasant. The building is a little stuffy, though, and the shower head sprayed water in all kinds of directions. Overall, very good but not great.

3 star hotel - in the old fashioned style, but quite charming. The house is old but well maintained with love. For breakfast there is a selection of egg dishes and porridge, everything is freshly prepared. In the restaurant you eat very well!

I came here with my 9 year old daughter to see the beauty of West Ireland and we were not disappointed.

The main drawbacks were that the WIFI was very bad and there was no AC.

Ballyvaughan is a beautiful gem, close to the Cliffs of Moher, a few castles, The Burren Birds of Prey Center, some caves, and plenty of other really fun history filled activities for all ages.

The hotel staff at the Hylands Burren Hotel were extremely friendly and accommodating, they arranged for a bag of laundry to be cleaned for us & they gave my daughter a bowl of ice cream the night we arrived.

There is a comfy breakfast area where they serve a free continental breakfast as well as hot meals - lots of options.

The Full Irish was good but the avocado & egg bowl was amazing, I ve never tried anything like that in Canada! If you stay here, try the different breakfast menu options.

After an evening stroll down to the harbour to watch the swans, donkeys & ponies, there s a bar to sit down & relax for the evening.

I was shocked at how expensive the tiny bottles of pop are here. 3 euro for 100 ml of ginger ale or Coca Cola. The tiny bottles are pretty novel though, get one for the instagram shot.

The bar has seating outside for enjoying the village ambiance & nice weather, there is a sculptured water pump & flower display across the street where folks often stopped to water the plants.

The hotel is centrally located, everything you need is a short walk away. However if you are after views, you ll want to book closer to the water...this hotel is too close to other buildings & businesses to really soak in the countryside & ocean views.

Past the bar there s a restaurant where they serve a full lunch & dinner menu. We ate dinner and my daughter and I both enjoyed our meals.

Through the hotel there are scattered common sitting areas with fireplaces or woodstoves to relax and unwind, read a book or just have conversations.

A pain point was that this hotel has no air conditioning. We stayed in July & the heat was made worse by staying on the second floor. Our room had a window with a small breeze & we were able to ask the front desk for a fan which helped us stay cool enough to sleep without much discomfort.

I found most of the hotels in Ireland had no air conditioning, of the 6 hotels we stayed at, including one of them where we paid $800 a night, only 1 had AC.

Most people coming here are not going to care about the wifi, this picturesque village attracts people who are looking to escape from technology, for good reason.

However, they do advertise free wifi, so they should provide usable wifi. Speeds maxed out for me at 0.5 mbps, it wasn t even enough bandwidth to browse social media, never mind watch Netflix or do any sort of streaming.

The room size was decent and the 2 beds were comfortable. The window had to stay open the whole time, and since there s no screen, we had a few spiders crawl in.

The skylight window was nice and large, but our view was of the employees of the neighbouring restaurant taking a smoke break out back.

I wished there was a view of the ocean or the mountains, but unfortunately most of the view in our room was obstructed.

The bathroom was spacious, but the toilet paper was very cheap 1 ply stuff. When you are staying at a place like this, you don t expect to see toilet paper from a government building. I ve stayed in motels that spend more on their TP.

Secondly, they use an old outdated faucet system where one faucet is scalding hot, and the other is cold. So you actually have to put the plug in the sink & fill it up to wash hands.

The shower pressure was good, but the tub looked a bit too grimy for me to want to give my daughter a bath in it.

They did not provide facecloths, I had to use a hand towel as a face cloth.

Overall we had a really great time in Ballyvaughan, and if you are looking for a countryside escape & don t care about wifi or AC, you ll have an awesome time here.

We passed by and stopped in to ask for directions to a pub. The concierge opened the bar for us, chatted, and was quite helpful by showing us on a map the surrounding possibilities for our trip. The building was quite beautiful and near to the Cliffs of Moher, while not being too far from Galway. The town was small, but directly on the sea. I would have liked to stay, but we were already booked elsewhere. I would imagine, based on my experience, that staying there would be just as pleasant an experience. Would recommend to passersby for the bar, and to travelers for the hospitality and a place to stay.

I only had a meal in the bar stew. The stew was luke warm, waited along time for it . I got 1 spoon of mash potato, I was not happy with this and was brough 1 more spoon of mash. The stew was nice enough but salty, very salty I could still taste the salt on my teeth and gums along time after the meal. Do they not know how dangerous salt is to certain people. I am one who has to be careful. of my salt intake. I was in a party of six all were short changed on the portions. The staff were pleasant.

Spacious room. Bathroom renovated, unfortunately not by professionals. And that's a shame because the food is good, a little on the expensive side, but very well cared for. Cozy pub, great bed. In short, if the bathroom had been okay, it is worth 4 stars, now a 3.

A turf fire in the traditional bar made this such a cozy experience and the lunch in the bar was excellent. Free Wifi in the bar meant I could catch up on my emails while enjoying the ambience. I parked in the car-park behind the hotel and which is right smack in the centre of Ballyvaughan town and in the middle of The Burren, so it's perfect for touring, or just enjoying a day trip to Clare.

The hotel was awesome. The village was perfect. The choices to eat are limited, but they all seemed nice. We opted for Mr. Kabob across the street from the hotel because they advertised American hamburgers!

Staff extremely relaxed, dont appear to care too much about serving anyone, with some tables leaving because no one had come to take an order. Very expensive too with very small portions given and poor quality ingredients. Chicken caesar salad was packet chicken for 13.50!

We ate in the Hotel restaurant and it was very good. The staff was friendly and provided service above and beyond. The two lamb dishes and the desserts we had were perfectly prepared. The prices were quite reasonable. Since it was a slower early season night, our enthusiastic waiter was able to bring the head chef and the pastry chef out to meet us after we had told him how happy we were with the food. The two women were delightful and allowed us to have our picture taken with them. We also met the owner who told us about her plan for redecorating and expanding.

We stayed at Hylands for a few days during our honeymoon in Ireland. Everyone was so friendly, and accommodating, almost like staying at your family s cottage. Even if you re not a Guinness fan, you ve got to try just One in the bar, and be sure to stay for lunch or dinner. The food was delicious and perfectly plated. They make these swan pastries that are just out of this world! Plus, we got to meet the chefs personally, which was a real treat!

Went to show Cliffs of Moher toy guests and we got this hotel for stay. All others were booked and I was skeptical because of the small town and all that. But I am so glad we found this hotel!!! So much so, we are planning another trip there soon.
We stayed there for one night and the stay was fantastic! Rooms and beds were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good too. Staff was very friendly.
They have good parking space too nearby.

This opinion is purely about the hotel's bar as we were not staying in the hotel. Classic Irish meals but prepared and served with highest attention to details. Meals were very generous and simply delicious. Chowder, Irish beaf and lamb accompanied with freshly prepared veggies and perfectly baked potato chips - all good as never before. Plus very friendly staff. Definitely one of the best dinning experiences during last couple of years. I will visit again. Highly recommended place.
