Beautiful 5 miles run/bike figure 8 with a lot of options to do fewer miles.
The kids playground is outstanding! Seems like it is good for ages 1 to about 8 or 10ish.

One of the most memorable local bigger parks in the area if you enjoy trails, lakes, and wildlife tucked away conveniently off 494 just off West Bush lake road. Great for walks, running, bikes, and cross country skiing with a variety of scenery trails go from prairie to forest. Snow shoeing and kayaking depending on season available for rent I believe.
Beautiful park and recreation area nestled in the heart of the twin cities southern suburbs. Fun in summer and winter both.
My 3 and 1 nephew and niece respectively loved this place I also found the playground to be the best I've ever seen
Kids love this place. Be very careful if you have more than one kids. They will go to the opposite ends and you will not be able to keep a eye on both. It's a must go and a 2 parent deal or one kid, one parent. Overall very funny. My kids can not wait till it opens up in a couple months.
This is my go to place when I want to XC Ski. The trails are usually in great condition. Lights on the trails help extend the hours you can ski during MN Winters.
The made snow had a good crowd and Mother Nature provided real snow while skiing!
great snowboarding experience this was way better than Buck Hill this is only my second time going snowboarding but man it was so many hills that you could choose from so it spread out and made the lines shorter. I give this pace five stars all day.
Nice place to explore side trails and the kids always enjoy Shoots and Ladders park
Took my kids to the fenced in jungle gyms area and they had a blast for hours. They didn't want to leave.
It's a great place for anyone with kids it has a big play area for all the kids. You will definitely have a drained kid. It's a very respectable environment felt very welcomed
Always a great place to BBQ while kids play in the big park area. Their first stop is always the tire swings. They can't wait for the water sprayers to turn on. Nice trails to walk/bike around also.
Good for family with kids. Big play area with picnic area
Great place for kids to play outside for hours. Always plenty of other kids to play with as well. Only downside to this park is the "concession" stand. Cheap, but stand workers are...questionable...at best
Best place to start ski here , they have area for beginners people, areas for intermediate , areas for experts people. I had been there one time and I enjoyed it . Hopefully do it again
Good and big play area for kids. Has good trails and boating area. Lot of different boating equipments available.
Wow! This is one of the largest playgrounds I have ever visited.
Great hiking trails & scenery that are dog friendly. Lots of cross country skiing trails too.
A+++ If you get a chance, visit this beautiful park! This one is by far one of our top park picks. Plenty of walking trails, places to have a picnic (restaurants close by) and the best part is the potential pictures. It is also very kid and dog friendly, which is great for our dog Lucy Loo Loo. They also have a variety of activities that are geared towards families. If you are looking for a serious hiking trail, this park has that covered too. Restrooms are on-site. Just be watch for turtles crossing the road and some paths. ;-)
What a great park, there's something for everyone here. Hiking, fishing, canoeing, picnic tables. And a super humongous play area for kids. Rarely seen so many structures to climb and slide on. It's amazing!
Great playground. Somewhat intimidating for toddlers and parents watching multiple kids since it's so expansive. Reccomend one-to-one until kids are ok with having to find you. Amazing free playground that knocks all the paid ones out of the... park.
Great place for a family outing. the playground is huge and a lot of activities. There are plenty of drinking fountains and a restroom close by.
Great park...as long as you come right when they open before bus load after bus load of kids arrive and take over and turn the park into mass chaos.
Just bought my first place and moved into an area. Great place to take your kids to, clean with lots of playground!
I have so many fond memories of this park. I've been coming here since I was little (I'm only 25 but still it's history to me)
This place has been so refreshing to come visit. I went with a friend to get out of the city and take a break from our studies and this place couldn't of been a better choice! The trees were all changing colors, the trails we're taken care of and clean, and there were plenty of picture worthy moments(so much so that we probably added a hour or so to our walk from just taking photos). I highly recommend this place to all ages! Very friendly people who work here/upkeep the park.
Hyland has a great cross country ski trail where they make snow so you will always have snow in winter. They have roughly 5 miles of walking/biking trails that are paved in summer. Has canoe and paddle boat rentals as well in the summer. Lots of picnic tables, grills and Chutes and Ladders play area for kids which is pretty large.
Went cross country skiing with a friend who we had just found skis for on Craigslist. Great facility, friendly staff and lots of good man made snow. Love MN parks!
Excellent park for children. Great area for walk, running, jogging and cycling.
One of our favorite little fishing places, water is pretty high right now due to rain but usually good fishing.
Kid heaven. Excited to go and asleep before we get home.
Many hiking trails to choose from. Park is well kept and beautiful.
It is a pretty big place for kids to play for hours. My kids love this place.
Has a great park and monsters to cool the kids when they play!
Chutes a ladders is a fantastic play area. It gets crowded on weekends and when school is out. It's not to crowded to play, but can be challenging to keep track of where your kids are in the huge play area. Be sure to set a meeting point.
Beautiful area with lots of trails for all levels of experience!
Beautiful walk around the lake. I love that trail because it is unpaved.
Ski, snowboard, hike or just find a bench to sit at and enjoy the view ! Breathe the fresh air and relax the mind. Just a bike /car ride away!
Excellent, huge playground. My 2-year-old son LOVED it!
Great frisbee golf course! Plenty of unique shots to practice. Looks like there are also running/hiking trails as well. Some of the course intersects the trails but everyone my group came across was very polite/respectful. Wonderful experience!
My kids always love visiting the Richardson Nature Center at Hyland.
Location, location, location. 15-20 drive is key for busy families. The hill is small but if you have small kiddos learning to ski it's a great fit.
Kids can run, jump, explore, run throughwater mist to cool down, climb, paddle boat, grab a bite to eat, have a picnic..just a fun place to be for kids and adults alike. The picture is a small portion of what Hyland has to offer.
What an awesome park ,fun and lots of shade and picnic sites
it a really good park with nice people with lots of space for the to play
Great metro area park with lots of habitat types. Prairie, woods, ponds, wetlands, and lakes are all represented. Good paved trails for biking or rollerblading.
Closed July 15 for an unknown amount of time! Play area and all buildings closed at this time. I didn't see anything on Google or on the hyland park page that acknowledges this closing. Frustrating to drive here and find it closed. Call first!
- Big Open Park .
- Easy Parking.
- Kids will love it .
- My Girls love it .
- No worry , you & your Kids will have great time .
I am a beginner snowboarder (today is my 3rd day) and I went snowboarding at highland hills. The place is great but I wish they groomed a little more often and it s a little small. With not that much room to grow unless you are going to do park. So all considered 3-4 stars.
Wilderness running without having to travel a long distance for it. Glad I found it!
Start out at the nature center if it's yoir first time
