We stayed for four nights during Christmas break at this hotel. Let me warn you, this is going to be a long review.
I would start by saying that this hotel has a great potential: the location is great, the facilities are good, the food is delicious, the pools are good too (only one slightly heated pool and an overheated whirlpool are open during winter months, no slides) .
Now with the level of customer service they need a lot of work to be done. We were greeted by a very unhelpful lady named Sheryl, who made us feel like it was a huge favor checking us in. We asked our questions just to hear unclear answers from her, and she didn t even bother to look at us when she was talking because she was too busy charging our credit card (somehow it took her a long long time and she of course didn t bother to explain our charges).
Ok, we thought it happens, people get tired, or have bad days. Moving on.
The rooms are nice, the mattresses are comfortable. The view from the main entry area is absolutely great.
Another incident worth mentioning is that they do offer an array of activities for the kids and adults, even mention they have childcare. However, you have to reserve it all at least 24 hours prior to the day. Except for a few things. Like craft making: my son chose a $12 package to make three bars of soap, all seemed well until the instructor poured the microwaved soap into the molds, she filled them 1/4 of the depth of the mold! You could hardly see any shape of the mold. I mean it is not something very important, but it does affect and reduce your enthusiasm for crafts at Hyatt ))) just ridiculous I think.
The archery lesson we booked for both of or kids was not anything like the experience above. It was actually a good class with good instructors. Our kids had fun.
Another event that was great is Story telling by the fire. It was told by one of the Pueblo people who work close with Hyatt and own some part of the resort (not sure about the details). His style of storytelling was great, the stories were interesting and with some modern twists to keep the listeners entertained, the whole setup around the fire pit was great. I could listen to his stories every night ))
Now, my worst experience of the customer service at Tamaya Hyatt is the financial side. Each and every single thing we charged on the room (or we thought so) was actually sent to our card as a pending charge. Every single thing for as low as the $12 soap making! And (I ll remind that the whole four night stay for two rooms we had, was authorized at the check in by Sheryl) Hyatt kept authorizing a per night per room charge to our card on a daily basis again! And that s after charging us for the whole stay upfront! I wouldn t be this upset because it s just pending charges, but we are now building our credit score, and this stay maxed out our card! And we cannot pay it off, because most of them are pending charges. I tried to get a hold of a manager to help us solve this, I only was able to find her on the day of our checkout. She seemed nice and helpful, however, it s been some time now and the pending double charges are still there!
I m sorry for such a long review, but this financial misunderstanding is just too upsetting to actually have sweet memories of the place. Never again. It s not worth it. I d rather stay at a different hotel. Or just pay good old cash.
