I was looking for a kitten for my daughter and they helped me find the perfect . The kitty I picked was a little shy and they went the extra mile to make sure that we were both comfortable on the way home. This is a superb Humane Society and I highly recommend it to anyone searching for a pet.
We adopted our little honey almost a year ago. She was aggresive and mean the moment we met her. Something spoke to me and we adopted. As soon as we left the shelter she bolted to the car jumped in and lunged at my boyfriend's face. The kisses have not stopped. Without this place we would not have this adorable girl in our life.
Awesome place. Animals are well taken care of. Some of the stuff was a bit sassy, but who isn't? The facility is very clean, but of course, lots of animals so it smalls mildly.
Every time I've adopted from here (3 times) the animals have been sick and no one said a word. A puppy I adopt was bloated, I asked why and they said it was because it just ate...no the puppy was full of worms! If you do want to adopt from here then I recommend asking to look at their files, look at their health records and make sure you search for the details you need. I understand and appreciate that they helping animals find homes but i do not feel I would be comfortable recommending them or adopting from here again.
I adopted my little Chihuahua Coco (she was Tinkerbell at the Humane Society) in July. The staff gave me time alone with her in a quiet courtyard. They also brought her and my other Chihuahua, Dino, into a fenced off area to test for compatibility. She is a joy. The staff was amazing. What a great place to adopt a pet!
We adopted a 4 month old puppy there 3 weeks ago. We were told she was completely healthy and had been checked by the vet very recently and got a clean bill of health. Although I heard her coughing a little while we were there, we adopted her anyway. We took her to the vet 2 days later and she had kennel cough, giardia, and mange. The insurance she came with is now refusing to pay because they said it was all "pre existing" conditions. This place sucks and I'll do nothing but bash it as long as I live
The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about animals, and specifically the personalities of their pets. I came away with the perfect kitty. And a friend picked a sweet pup 10 years ago that has been her best friend. They do a wonderful job pairing pets and forever homes.
The work these guys do here is amazing. The services these guys are offering vet, training, & pet supplies store on site is a huge plus when you're taking home the newest family member!!! It's also a great place to visit if you're in neighborhood to see what's new and to check out the facility!
Odd reception. Vet and tech were welcoming and anticipated questions in advance. Pet was sick the same night and following day for no apparent reason except being exposed to that clinic. No future trips planned.
We have been clients at the HSBV vet clinic since 2004. From the front desk to the vet techs to the doctors, we have always had a great experience. They are smart, sophisticated and compassionate.
Really clean and well maintained shelter. The animals all seem happy and well taken care of. You can tell the staff and volunteers really enjoy what they do.
They do fantastic work and take such good care of the animals. Please consider supporting the humane society. Check out their website for new animals that arrive often. Most are adopted super quickly because Boulder loves their pets. :)
BHS is such a loving and exciting place to pick up your next best friend. Very helpful and encouraging staff. I also use the Vet services and the prices are fair and reasonable. I've adopted two cats and take all my cats (currently 3) to the vet. Good place with lots of love.
We received compassionate care and incredible professionalism for our companion buddy during the last year of his life. Thank you to all the staff, vets, and other folks who put so much care and energy into the boulder human society.
Lovely, helpful staff. Animals are well taken care of. New animals daily. They take donations of old pet items if you have something to drop off. Vet on site. Disability access. During covid concerns, you can only visit with an appointment. Nice facilities.
If I could give no stars I would! Just had our family cat of 9+ years pass away in our home. Our normal vet is closed today because it s Sunday. I understand things have been greatly impacted because of COVID, however we cannot schedule death. My husband called to inquire what we can do as we were referred to call by the police Dept. When he called he was informed that we would have to wait to make an appointment to drop off our dead pets body. This is not acceptable to expect family to just hang on to a corpse because you feel we should make an appointments further more the direction he was given was so unclear and insensitive. He was directed to pick an appointment time on the tab that has appointments for euthanasia and cremation services. So again no help or direction on what to do in the meantime of our poor cats lifeless body just in our home with our child and two other cats. This is NOT okay and I will never recommend this place.
This rescue is fantastic!!! The animals get fantastic care and the staff is great. They not only take care of the physical needs for the animals but the emotional needs as well. They have WONDERFUL dog trainers who do an amazing job with the dogs that come in as well as the training classes offered for pet owners who can being their dogs to classes. I take my dog to a class they offer that is well worth every penny spent and more. The trainers are AMAZING. I'm not saying they can work miracles or make all your rlwildest dreams come true, although they do a great job, but they are extremely knowledgeable, nonjudgmental and patient. They help you with you and your dog where ever you are at and they don't push the dog beyond their limits but help every class to be extremely positive for the dog and owner. And they do a great job of teaching the owners how to do the right thing to teach their dogs ongoing. If I could give more starts I would. I've lived my whole life around the boulder area and anytime I'm been here or come in contact with this rescue I am always blown away by what they do.
Very clean, animals appeared very healthy. Thete were plenty of staff to walk the dogs and attend to their needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
A great facility with great people. They made adopting very easy and gave lots of information. 2 people from the staff stayed late to help be adopt that day to save me an extra trip. Thanks and appreciate what you all do!
Be warned, make sure you tell them to take your payment information if you want to put a hold on an animal. Otherwise, they will conveniently deny that you put a hold on animal. Wish I could give a negative star, very, very bad experience.
DO NOT GO TO THE VET CLINIC!!! I have a dog and HAD a rabbit but they killed it. I went in to get my rabbit spayed and the person doing the surgery did not know what she was doing. They gave her too much anesthesia and her heart stopped. Then they call me and tell me oh your rabbit died, you can come get her stuff. Please do not take your small pets to this clinic because they will kill them with their lack of experience. I googled so many places to check to make sure this was a safe procedure and everywhere I looked it said it was as long as the vet was knowledgeable on the procedure. Now my little girl is going to be heartbroken.
Got this cutie from the Humane Society a few weeks ago and we're loving every second we spend with her! Go to the Boulder Humane Society for quick, efficient, and high quality pet adoptions!
They changed my 90 year old Mom's life by helping her find an ESA. Helping find the perfect match, they were amazing at pairing these two together. The kennels are the cleanest I've ever seen and the cat area is exceptional.
My previous experience with the Humane Society in another state was not good. This location was wonderful from the beginning. Excellent customer service, approachable doctor, and an amazing surgeon. Best and cleanest neutering.
Do NOT trust these reviews. On multiple occasions I have posted about legitimate terrible experiences only to have them removed by BVHS. Take your pet elsewhere, especially if you have a low income. Your pet has a better chance of a healthy life when cared for by practically any other vet.
They ve been very helpful with astray cat we ve found, we also had questions that other vets wanted us to schedule an appointment (pay to answer the questions), but they simply answered. We never adopted a pet there but it looks like they really keep things clean and treat the pets really good. The staff there simply love animals and I appreciate they volunteer.
My dog was taken in for being at large, on my property, I might add. When I picked him up he was incredibly thirsty and had been holding his bowels for quite some time, as he had emergency poops and peed the second we walked outside. Very disappointed in the treatment of my dog, a friendly lab named Winston. They also all but forced me to have him microchipped, which isn't GPS, it's just a collar tgat requires surgery. They also charged me foir 2 days of boarding for less than 15 hrs, 12 of which they were closed. Lastly they said they woukd waive all charges if I let them whack off his balls. How inhumane is all of that. Shame on you boulder county!!!!
I really like service when I adopted My cat in lockdown. I adopted BIlly In june. Everything was online process but it was very smooth process i felt. My billy was injured and since we got our cat we are so happy and honestly my cat is very very humble good behaviour and most understanding. He is kind snd lovely and very very smart Cat. He loves us and we are so happy to adopting him from humane Society. Thank you
BE VERY CAUTIOUS of adopting older dogs from this place. I suffered a severe facial bite from a dog that was adopted by well-meaning people. I am looking at the animal control report. It states that the dog was confined in June for biting a child, just two months before he attacked me. The story I had initially heard after my attack was that he "nipped a toddler." This dog was confined for that bite, then was adopted with the stipulation that he was ok for kids 10 and up but no other animals. This dog attacked me aggressively and I now have a life-altering injury and I am paying the price for the Humane Society's mistake WHY was this aggressive German shepherd cleared for adoption?
Great that it's a no kill shelter and they offer homes to so many animals, but I had to lower my rating due to a bad experience with their vet clinic. Will not be using their veterinary services again.
Awesome place with friendly staff. This place will always have a place in my heart. It's were I found my puppy Mudd two months ago. He has been such a great addition to my family.
Stellar, they accept any animal and find a home for it. They also have fun events for the kids and volunteering is welcomed and they are grateful to have help. But when getting a small dog, it's cutthroat, same day a dog has been dropped off for adoption it has 2-3 holds on it.
they are simply the best my dog kaden needed fast surgery and i had no money at the time kaden is my hole world they did the surgery and let me make payments that i could afored thank you B.V.H.S
I've been a client of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley for about five years. They currently care for two of my dogs: Tia and Ruby. I am so thankful they're still open during the pandemic and able to care for the health of my animals. If you're looking for a vet to compassionately care for your dogs or cats, please call them!
I have adopted cats and dogs from here as well as having them perform regular veterinary services. I love the humane society and the staff on both the shelter and the vet side are always looking out for you and your pet!!
Exceptional "animalitarian" facility committed to caring for a wide variety of domestic animals and helping them find forever homes. Beautiful animals from many states are sent there because of the affluent, loving people in the area. Clean, friendly, organized and ethical treatment. Full service with a veterinarian clinic on site offering discounted services. All pets are spayed or neutered and chipper prior to adoption.
They have been great to us and treated us well but there is a Vet who is ridiculous about weight with our dogs. Our Chihuahua mix weighed like 8.5 pounds and she said that was way too much. She also seems to judge us by the weight of the dog.
Not only do they provide top notch veterinary care, all the profits go back to the Humane Society. So by taking my rescue dogs to them, we are in turn paying it forward for other dogs who need to be rescued. Everyone is very friendly and I believe they also offer a sliding scale for those who have pets that need care but the owner is unable to pay the full amount. My dogs actually wag their tails when we pull up so that tells you everything! As a rescue pet owner of 6 animals, I highly recommend them.
We adopted our second dog from the Humane Society last week and we couldn't be happier. We arrived expecting to visit one dog, but he was way too big/strong for my wife to walk and he wasn't done growing yet. We found another dog the same size as our other dog, same kind of lab/terrier mix, amazing demeanour. His claws hadn't been maintained and their on-site vet did their best to trim them up before we left. The staff were all very professional, up to date with information on the dogs, and very helpful with our questions. I'd dock them maybe half a star for selling rawhide in their retail store, though, they're awful for dogs and should be thrown away.
My Girlfriend and I adopted a dog about a month ago super cute jack Russell mix that we think might be a papijack mix. Have gone to both the shelter and vet and are both awesome and we will definitely get our next friend here. Staff was nice answered our questions and when you first adopt a dog or cat the food bag their only cost a 1.00 super awesome place.
