Kids will enjoy spending times seeing many wild and domestic animals.
As much as I don't really like zoo's, the Houston one in particular has a lot of space for the animals and contains some endangered species. Beautiful layout and great place to take a stroll with a loved one.
Great family time and a lot to see. Definatly worth the ticket price. Kids enjoyed the variety in the animals available.
We love all the new features of the zoo. Kids zone is awesome. A must visit as it is among the largest zoos in the nation
So much fun! Bring tennis shoes not sandals like me! A lot of walking my soles were on
We have a great zoo in Houston. Most of the animals live in natural habitats. The gorillas have room to run around. The elephants have a beautiful new pool. There are Keeper Talks throughout the day. This is a wonderful place to walk around and relax while gazing at many different types of animals. There are Zoo Nights when the zoo is open from 5 to 8 pm in the summer. Presently, a part of the zoo is under construction. They are creating a Wetlands Habitat. I look forward to its completion.
I always love going to this zoo! The trees are so big and gorgeous which allows for great shade on hot days! They're always updating it so everything is like new. You can tell they really care for their animals.
I've been to the zoo twice (2017 and now 2020), and both times my credit card number was stolen and used hours after. Be sure to check your statement after leaving. Apparently they have had this issue for years (Google it).
Kids loved the variety of animals and we felt quite close.
Would have liked more maps posted around or a zoo app.
Disappointed that this event didn t include any actual zoo animals and the tickets were exclusively for this one event and didn t include a return visit to the zoo when it is open. Don t bother coming if you want to see animals.
Staff was very helpful and found out that this week is the best week to go to the zoo.
Huge variety already, also saw large additions being added
It's truly a great zoo. Seems they treat their animal's well compared to others I've been.
We were very impressed. We came when it opened at 9am, and until about 11am we nearly had the place to ourselves. It's a very nice zoo.
This zoo is wonderful. The exhibits are large for the animals and allow them to be in or out as the pleases. Right now there is rules for covid but it also made it easier to see all the animals. There's still some simple snacks and lots of places to clean hands.
Love taking the family to this zoo! So many animals and activities for kids.
Today's wasn't the best time to go almost all animals are either sleeping or depressed and was really pack well maybe next time will be better
Great place to take little kids, I took my adopted kids here and they had a blast! not a lot of options to eat here but a really nice place to spend the weekend. We arrived 12:00 in the afternoon and left at 5 there is a lot to see. Hoping they finish the remodeling soon! so excited!
Great zoo. We love all the exhibits excellent day out, especially for families. It is great for all ages, adults included! And coolers are welcomed with plenty of areas to picnic at throughout the zoo!!
I have not been to the zoo since I was a kid. I really enjoyed the zoo.
Zoo lights were fun. Great for children and a clean park. Not many adult events and the zoo forced us on a predetermined path to view the lights. Probably a good decision due to the ridiculous crowd. Buy tickets online to avoid lines inside the park. Good luck with parking.
A great place to take your kids! Our son loved it. The zoo and Houston heat is not a good combination normally. However, thank goodness there was an overcast the day we went. The elephants were his favorite! They are adding more exhibits as well.
Great place to take the kids and learn about all kinds of animals. Great zoo!
I cannot give it 5 stars because it is a zoo, but Houston does a decent job of creating naturalesque enclosures for many of the animals. The zoo loghts and Zoo nights they throw are something every houstonian should attend
Nothing new to see also they are raising up the price on entering
It is a great place and learning experience and there adding more exhibits
Great local attraction for kids and adults alike to watch and learn about wildlife. Many exhibits with animals from all around the world. Lots of fun, interactive activities for children to enjoy and overall a great destination for the whole family. Preferably bring a cap, you'll be doing lots of walking under the sun, which will make you work up a sweat!
Great Zoo but WAY WAY over priced! Bring your own cooler and snacks. Train back to your car costs $3 per person (kids included). Like they wait for you to be exhausted and ready to go home and nickle and dime you. Loved the zoo though. Very clean.
I have been to many zoos. Whenever I travel I always try to go to the zoo if there is one nearby. This one was huge and well maintained. I saw many animals that I have never seen in person before. They all seemed happy and well cared for.
Lots of variety of animals. They have added some nice exhibits since we were here last. Looks like they are building some more. Wish parking was easier, but other than that, no complaints.
So many animals to see! Lots of activities for ther kids. They can feed the giraffes or color on a giant picture of animals, just to name a couple. The sea lions are so entertaining and the reptile exhibit is a must see.
You won't see many animals at zoo lights, but you will see lots and lots and lots of beautiful lights, including lights in the shapes of lions and tigers and bears. The center courtyard at the entrance has the lights synced to the music, you will want to hang 9ut for at least a couple if songs.
The best place to have a family outing! The zoo is kept clean, the workers are nice and answer any questions you have. There is a wide variety of animals here to look at, my children love to see the big fish, they enjoy being in the playground area & the petting zoo! There's a lot to do here so I recommend coming early to get through the whole zoo. We come everytime we have a chance & if the weather is nice so we bought a family membership, it was totally worth it!!
The Zoo is always packed! We always have to circle round forever to find a parking spot! So the parking for the zoo sucks but it's because this zoo is so great! It's really big, well maintained and has a large range of animals. Not like how some zoos are missing the main ones you go there to see like the lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, elephants.. etc. Seeing the baby elephant was probably my favorite part! I snapped a few pictures and posted on here! You'll see how nice this zoo is! Definatley worth battling parking!
Because it's raining there wasn't much to do or see
So many animals!!! HUMONGOUS compared to the Austin Zoo
Nice and clean zoo. But only if you're into zoos. Didn't like seeing elephants behind wires. Seemed to be pacing a lot.
The Zoo is always a good place to go. Centrally located. Good parking. Entrance to the zoo, food and drinks are a little bit pricey, which is why I gave it 4 Stars. Outside of that, you can't beat it. Lots of exhibits.
We loved this zoo. I wasn't easy finding a parking spot but once we got in it was great!!
The lights were beautiful I love watching the move to music. Every where you looked you saw smiles.
The exhibit is ALWAYS worth the extra money! Even with our big family, we still splurge on the attraction. The Houston Zoo has never disappointed me with their exhibits! I absolutely loved the Lego one and the kids really enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit.
But you lose a star for parking. We are from "Houston". We spent 2 days at the zoo this last week. The 1st day was just driving around looking for a spot to park... for over an hour. After scouting the massive amounts of parking right at the zoo AND the nearby areas I'm aware of, we left with crying kids and cold lunches packed in thermals.
The next day we returned determined! After a MUCH shorter trip around all of the parking lots and spots, we parked at the Museum of Natural Science parking garage and paid a whopping $20!! That secured us a full day of fun at an amazing zoo!
But seriously consider a parking garage (if zoning allows) OR VIP/Zoo Membership parking spots for people that pay for memberships to the Houston Zoo or any Zoo. Make it the back lot..... we'd still be ok with it.
Free tickets every first Tuesday of the month is a very good deal. Just a tip. If you come on using a free ticket better to come early or ride a train. Parking areas are so full just be prepare to walk incase you parked far. Everything else with the zoo experience is great.
Nice zoo, but most of the animals are sleeping or hiding. They need to have workers at least get the animals a little active throughout the day. I see more people than I do zoo animals so.. you can see where I'm going with this. It would be nice to see some type of show or feeding through the day.
It's been while since I've been.. I was not dissapointed..
It's really nice to visit as a family outing. Lots of interesting animals to show our daughter. It's a fun experience for her to see the animals in real life. We have membership so we usually take it easy and stroll around different areas each visit. There are plenty of indoor exhibits that we even visit on cold days. We bring our own snacks and drinks which saves money but that means I have no reviews for the food sold there. Parking is terrible unless you're visiting in the middle of the day during a weekday. Save yourself the time and aggravation and park in one of the nearby pay garages and make the 5-10 min trek to the zoo from there.
There's still construction going on so that's a little disappointing. We can't wait to see the improvements.
Lots of fun once in but full of traffic, lines and little parking its like u always have to fight for a parking space
Several areas under construction. And it was hard to get to a restroom.
Incredible zoo. Animals well cared for, clean, great family outing. A must see if in the Houston area.
Amazing place for day out with kids and family. One of the best zoos I been to.
Very festive! Loved the music and great variety of displays .
The monkeys and elephants are by far the best at any zoo I have visited in the US. Small enough that you can get through the whole thing in one day, but you wouldn't have to if you really took your time. Lots and lots of shade which is great since this is Texas.
Great place for kids and outside food and drinks welcome
The Houston Zoo is my favorite zoo! The biggest issue I had was getting to it Lol. Parking wasn't bad because we arrived around mid day and earlier visitors were starting to leave making places available. We waited a bit to get in but that's to be expected. We got the "Big Bug" exhibit passes for one adult and two kids and it was around $65. Once in, we made for the sea lion exhibit and had just missed the show but he was still out and about and playing. There are various animal shows throughout the day so scheduling is highly recommended to make each one. The Big Bug exhibit was really cool with huge animatronic bugs in a wooded setting. We tried to see as many of the animals as possible but still missed alot just because the zoo is so massive. If you live in the area and plan on going several times a year you should definitely consider their yearly membership. Overall, I highly recommend children and adults alike enjoying seeing and interacting with the animals. It's always a great experience!
I love the zoo
Nice place to go with your kids
Went to zoo lights and it was fun. Music, lights, some entertainment. Obviously wish you could see animals but it's night and I get it
We love the zoo! There s cool down places throughout the park to get out the Texas heat if your not from here, from gift shops, food restaurants and cool zones and you are allowed small coolers for drinks & food as well. Now there is big construction in the middle of the park and you do have to make the lap around so bring your walking shoes but well worth it and the funds from tickets sales etc go to wildlife preservation so go and Suport the cause, Tons of animals, exhibits, and presentations, and a children s park section all locatable on a map given at the gate
Very nice place to visit. Easy to find yourself around. Major renovation is in place. Parking can be a challenge especially after 11AM.
Beautiful place...best zoo I've ever been to hands down!
Me and my family loved the zoo foods kinda steep but we had fun
They have FREE Tuesdays entrance into the zoo and we didnt even know it! Lots to see! The zoo is a bit confusing to get around, but our family enjoyed the animal viewing.
Amazing time visiting for my son's birthday. All while learning and animal watching!!!
So much to see have to go in the morning to be able to see everything kids loved it
Had a great time with the wife. Here's a tip, the zoo map is a little bit confusing so use Google maps with the map and it's easier to navigate the zoo.
BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO ENJOY WITH YOUR LOVED ONES LOTS OF MEMORIES TOO BE HAD
Simply amazing! My son enjoyed every aspect of the light exhibits.
Perfect for kids. I loved it there, so many different animals and sites to see. The insect house was my favorite.
I come here with my girls once a month. They like playing by the kids zoo area. We enjoy the aquarium the most. Even though the aquarium it s not so big my girls still love it.
For Houston to be one of the largest cities in the country you would think they'd have a great zoo. But I've been to better. It is a lot of walking so be prepared however not really impressed with half their animal exhibits. We took our daughter for her 2nd birthday. Wasn't much to see. The kids part was ok but no petting zoo that day. She did get to feed the giraffes which she liked. If you're on the Lone Star Card program (food stamps) you get discounted tickets like $5 per person. However you have to show them your Lone Star Card and I.D.
The path they hated off is a fun walk through. There were a lot more people in the park than I expected given current restrictions..
I love going here with friends! They treat the animals with respect and love and it shows. It's never a boring day at the zoo.
So far I like this zoo. With amazing creatures from all walks of life and habitats this place truly brings you into a hole another word. The staff were nice. So far I give this place a 5/5 stars and I hope your experience was as good as mine was. Here's to a good day and a better tomorrow
We love this place so much! So much to see and do and the staff is always helpful and knowledgeable! A must see stop if you're visiting Houston!
Fantastic zoo. Very clean and a wide variety of animals
As always the Houston zoo is a must see for any locals and visitors. The diversity of animal life I excellent. There are tons of little shows you can catch. It's always a great place to bring the kids and have them learn a bit.
The Houston Zoo is one of the top places our kids like to go. There are plenty of things to see and do. Once you finally get a parking place and get inside there is plenty of room to move around with out a ton of people. Highly recommend place to get a membership to.
The zoo itself is great except for 2 things. The vending machines do not carry Dr Pepper, and the Cypress Circle Cafe food is way expensive, and not really all that good.
Such a wonderful place to spend the day with your family or even a date. Herman park is right next door and is the perfect place for a picnic!
Excellent zoo. A large area with so many different animals and things to do for both adults and kids. A full day's experience can be expected here. Thanks.
The Houston Zoo is a proud example of things well done in Houston. The light display is amazing and the exhibits are lots of fun for the whole family.
Great experience for my young grands. They had a ball. Thank goodness for their A/C working. It's hot out there folks.
The Houston Zoo is a great zoo with a huge variety of animals and displays. I've been here a handful of times since moving to the Houston area and it's never a disappointment. There are a few exhibits along the way that are indoor and air conditioned, and they also have a good supply of water fountains - so bring your own bottles for water. Also, you can bring in wagons and your own food so you aren't forced to spend money on food. My only complaint is that if you don't get there when they open, the parking can be a real nightmare.
More elephants than I've ever seen in a zoo, in a very nice habitat
My daughter loves the zoo but i pay to much money to have to drive an hour and a half to find parking. I mean get some parking attendants please.
