Parking STINKS!!! Most times we visit we literally waste over half an hour trying to find parking and that's on a good day. It's so crowded, specially even more when people create their own parking space making the aisles smaller which is very inconvenient for those with larger vehicles. Wish they had more parking space, a parking garage would definitely come in handy. For the price of admission tickets I would expect parking to be the least of our worries. Zoo Admission prices are so over priced. Really Adds up when you have multiple kids. Also, BEES are a huge issue. I was recently stung by one! Note to self, do not wear yellow to the zoo lol I don't think we'll be returning, the bee situation has me reallyyyy paranoid. My baby almost got stung a few times. I'm not talking about a bee here and there. There's a whole bunch everywhere, specially near the areas where there's mostly trees.

We last visited the Houston zoo in dec 2018 . We have seen a lot of improvements here since past 4/5 years !! There are a lot of wild life to see now than compared to 4 yrs back . We got to see more elephants , lions , tiger, gorilla/ chimpanzee, Bisons/ Texas bulls , variety of fish and birds. The zoo is maintained clean and the Christmas lights made it look even better . It is no less than any Asian/ African zoo now with the variety of wild life from across the world . A must visit for people who love to watch wildlife .

I haven't been to the Houston Zoo in probably 10+ years. Today my daughter and I went. It was a fantastic day! Grace in primates was extra helpful and informative for our homeschooling group!

Completely not worth coming, most of the enclosers are still closed. But the main gift shop at the end is open for business and packed shoulder to shoulder. Very disappointed in the Houston zoo for reopening this way. Normally it takes are family at least four hours to get through the zoo, today only an hour and a half.

We love going to this zoo! We always have so much fun. They have awesome things to do like the splash pad, feeding the giraffes, And the carousel. All around it is always an amazing time. I love that they have the membership option because it saves my family a lot of money and we can have fun all year long!

My son LOVED it here. It s pricey but if you have a food stamps card you get in for $5 a person instead of $19. Sadly half of the animals were sleeping and couldn t be seen but the ones that could were worth the trip.

Arguably one of the best Zoo's I've visited. They are about the same size as the San Antonio zoo in addition to having around the same number of exhibits. However, their elephant exhibit is bigger than the San Diego Zoo's.

I love this zoo. It has a lot of really nice exhibits of all sorts of animals. It is children friendly, is really clean, and there is even different exhibits where you can have interaction with animals like the giraffes feeding. Parking space is some what limited though.

I went to zoo lights, it was nice but i felt it was very expensive especially for the kids.you have to be a member for discounted prices. Not much to see as far as animals. But the lights were beautiful

My kids love this place! We like to get the annual family membership and split it with another couple friend. Also FYI huge pro is if grandparents are taking the kids or if you have a nanny taking your kids + other kids to the zoo, they're ok with that! I've been to the zoos in San Diego and New York and others, but this is definitely my favorite. Plus you can't beat the BABY ELEPHANT!

Zoos are tough. You have to strike a balance between giving the animals enough space to roam that it isn't depressing, but also not to much so you have an opportunity to actually see the animals. The Houston zoo does a pretty good job of nailing this balance. Good diversity of animals, really appreciated that the zoo keepers would come out and answer questions.

Beautiful zoo. For the amount of people there.
It never felt overwhelming or crowded.
Alot of the area's were under construction. Very clean. Animals appeared to be in very healthy condition.
The parking is a nightmare, and the area around it is very swamped with people.
No order to it. Parking was free, and a free for all at that.
Great way to kill some time before a later flight.
Airport was only 25 minutes away.

Was amazing! Very cheery and engaging staff. They had many places to rest. Refill water. Charge phones. With various live feedings around the park you're bound to see somthing neat! All topped off with clean restrooms and easy to navigate routes filled with wonderful suprises!

Just spent four hours with my son & two grandsons at the zoo. Hardly anyone was wearing a mask much less practicing social distancing crazy crazy crazy. So many families, so many seniors, no one ov authority to enforce this. I couldn't believe what I was seeing ( SMH )

We love the Zoo! We hadn't been in a couple of years and finally decided to renew our membership. So worth it. The renovations they have done are beautiful!! They are still adding new areas but it doesn't get in the way of a beautiful experience at all. The Elephant area is such a treasure and feeding the giraffes is incredible (be prepared for a steep price. It's $7 for 3 pieces of lettuce). You can bring in your own food and drinks (no alcohol). They do have a few stands around the park for some St. Arnold's beer! They sell other beer as well and in the cafe you can get wine, white Claws and Michelobe Ultra (there may be one other beer but I can't remember). There is also a cute face painting area for the kids near the cafe! We love the reptile area as well and can definitely spend more than 30 minutes in the room. The tropical bird area is amazing! There is even an open area and the birds fly right by you. The Gorillas are amazing and the Zoo provides so many details on each of them. I could go on and on but this is one awesome zoo! I've been to many in other states but the Houston Zoo takes the cake for me

Get the zoo pass, definitely going to need it to see everything. Love that every time we go the place from exibits to food areas are clean and inviting. My daughter is 4yrs old and can't get enough!!! P.s. plan ahead and catch ALL their educational programs!!!

Always a great time always a great experience. I don't think I have a particular exhibit that I like this nor do I have a particular route that I take, but I would like to start mapping out a route so I can see everything in a timely setting without having to rush. I try to see everything because I never get there with enough time to see everything especially now that the extended some exhibits my daughters had a great time I cannot wait to go back. I think finding parking is the most tedious part of the zoo aside from that isn't good family outing

This is a great place to waste a day. Our three kids had a ball exploring all the animals and wandering through the zoo. Parking was easy and there are a couple of different food options and plenty ty of seating all through the zoo for breaks.

Amazing array of animals! Always clean! We went on Valentine's Day and they had cute Valentine's decorations and puns in the enclosures, everything was adorable and the animals were super active! I've been going to this zoo since I was born and they always have new stuff so you never get tired of it!

I consider this my first "real" visit to the zoo: took my time wandering around the exhibits and not rushing or trying to see every single animal. I really appreciated the quantity and variety of bird displays. I visited during the Zoo Lights season, so all decorations were up during the day and you could get an idea of what the evening experience might be like.
A section of the zoo is currently under renovation -- but it's for a new exhibit, so hopefully a reason to return in the future! I recommend arriving early, as there was almost no wait to get tickets, and you can wander the zoo without the foot-traffic and strollers that significantly increase during the day (especially weekend, holidays).

This place is beautiful. Every part of the design was made with love. There's trees and overhangs with fans everywhere that keep guests cool and out of the sun. The carousel is inexpensive and definitely worth the ride! The animals were standard but very easy to view and there were activity areas between holding areas for children to okay or have a photo op.

The cafe had decent food but the staff were not very friendly. However, Sarah at the tickets window and the gift shop staff were quite friendly. The gift shop staff even offered to clean up the stuff my little one ripped off of the jewelry display.

Do not go to the Zoo. Half of the animals are not there any more and the cages are empty. Everything is closed and you will barely see half the animals there. Not worth the $24 dollars at all. They do not feed the animals to attract them where we can see them. Most the animals are hiding due to that. They should at least reduce the ticket price to maximum $10 like most other parks and exhibits.
