Went yesterday was fun but the splash pad was not in service and was told it would be a month before it would reopen. Would have been nice to have known before we went. After walking around with my four grandbabies we were going to cool off cause it was hot yesterday.
By far my favorite place to take family. It does get hot in the summer so make sure to drink plenty of water! The exhibits are better than most zoos in other cities and the staff is very nice. Have fun!
One of the best Zoo ive attended. The different selection of animals were amazing. The staff were friendly.
One of the best things to do in this cesspool of a city.
Clean and fun place for the whole family. We love going to the zoo, you can bring a cooler and wagon to bring your own food and drinks. The food and drinks they serve are pricey.
Zoo lights is so much fun and they even have an area with fake blizzard. Please remember to visit the reptile, bird and fish enclosures. The red pandas are also a highlight. The zoo allows outside food so we do regular picnics there with our annual membership.

No better place to take the kids or date to enjoy the day!
I have been a member for years and I highly recommend becoming one.
Great place for family outing and children for learning about animals on their habitat. All the employees very kind. The Zoo is very clean too.
This is a great zoo, and found that there's plenty of shade from the Houston heat. I was a little disappointed in the aquarium, but all other exhibits appeared to be well kept. I'm from Fort Worth, and believe it has a better zoo which is my reason for docking a star.
Awesome! Animals easy to view and most walkways were shaded with large fans generously placed throughout the zoo along with water fountains. Great experience!
First time going and we had a blast even the water park was a great place to cool down. Loved the end when we got on the train to relax before we left to the hotel. Can't wait to go back 2019.
Great fun esspessialy for kids of all ages friendly staff great animals and attractions
Our kids had a great time at the Houston Zoo. It is very family friendly and the little ones can discover local and exotic animals. The downside is the ticket price. If I remember well we paid around $ 20 USD per person.
Great experience. Easy place to get lost for the day.
Great other than high prices. I chose to go to the christmas lights and the end of the event whrn it was half off. Still good service.
Love Christmas lights and decorations.. I can feel the spirit of Christmas here. Best place to go and chill with family and friends.
I haven t been to the zoo in ages, but I was so glad I got to go to the Houston Zoo. There are tons of exotic animals (it s a zoo, right?) but the best part is when little events go on around the park, like feeding the giraffes! Only downside was the heat, but you can t really control that. Amazing experience 10/10
We enjoy the zoo, but at 35 years old, the Houston Zoo has not changed much since I was in highschool. The prices for admissions are too high. If you are a local, I reccomend the membership.
I like the lake at the entrance. It is full of turtles that see you coming and head towards you looking for food... Really quite humerous. Not a great fan of caged animals. Would prefer them in their natural habitat.
went to bday party and it was awesome. Would recommend having parties here.
This is a good zoo but right now I can not give this a place a great review right now. There is so much construction going on which is great but there is too much confusion trying to get around. It was amazing feeding a giraffe but ti me $7.00 for 3 pieces of lettuce and you don't even get to touch the animals. The prices in the zoo are way to high plus the entrance price of $19.00 is a little steep. Give the zoo a few years to finish remodeling then give it a try.
We love going to the zoo. We have a membership just because our daughter loves going and walking around.
This review is for the seasonal zoo lights. The crowds were large, but the flow of the path was easy to understand and full of different attractions. Be sure to prepurchase your tickets. You won't save any money, but you can avoid the long lines that accumulate at the ticket windows and walk straight in.
Military Membership / Reg Admission Price is a great deal. Facilities are clean. Great events for kids. Will renew our membership annually as long as we are in the area!
Went for a fund raiser, had fun new construction going on . Beautiful place
My wife and I went for zoo lights. It was really cool. Lots of cool lights too see through the zoo. You don't get to see many animals though as they are asleep and they're are no lights in the enclosures.
Loved it this is a huge park with a train and paddle board a lot of little water fountains for kids to play in as well as many playgrounds for children wasn't able to walk through the whole park to complete my review but I will be back to finish I will update
Family loved it. We actually got family membership, our son enjoyed playing on the water park inside the zoo...
The zoo light we very nice...plenty of displays to walk to tire the babies out before bedtime
We tried to go to the Zoo on Saturday but got there at 3:10. They would not let us in because the last group was allowed in at 3. We had tickets for Zoo Lights and planned on buying separate tickets to see animals earlier. We drove all the way from Huntsville with my overly excited 2 year old because he wanted to see the animals. My husband had called on Monday to ask some questions about using another zoo membership for discounts with Zoo lights and if we needed separate tickets to come in before the Zoo lights. It was never mentioned to him by the lady he spoke with that the Zoo closed early on Zoo lights days. All 3 of us were so disappointed by the fact that they would not let us in. We had ridden the train before we went over to the Zoo and it sure would have been nice if there had been a sign that said something about the zoo closing early near the train. We would have gone into the Zoo first and then done the train. Thank goodness there was a playground at the park near by to cheer my crying two year old up. I'm very disappointed in the lack of communiciation by the worker he spoke with on the phone and lack of sign by the train. Zoo lights was really neat, but we will be taking our business to Lufkin Zoo from now on.
Spend hours enjoying relaxing strolls around a vibrant botanical garden & zoological menagerie which changes almost monthly as new exhibits are added. Catch the elephant baths, feed the giraffes, observe docents explaining nature with live animals, a petting zoo, gorilla & primate habitats & more. Ride the carousel & Hermann park train. A 'must see' in Houston.
This is terrific year round. They have so many events and a great line up of animals. Christmas is a great time to go as you can see by my photos.
It was amazing all the animals were out it was a good day and it wasn't crowded for being a weekend.
Great zoo! There is a small petting zoo with goats and a cow. Lots of caves to explore in the kids zoo, and a cute gopher section where kids can pop out of their own little holes. Huge elephant section which was great to see. Really neat features throughout, and a water splash area that looked fun. Could have spent all day there! Bonus: it's cheap! (Compared to other zoos we have been to)
Really great zoo! No reccomended for those who don't like crowds. Parking can also be a problem.
Had a great time, nice staff, a lot to look at and I can t wait for the new additions they are having.
It's pretty cool here, I can't wait to see you fight that gorilla in the monkey can.
You are ok with it I just want you to know that I love the way you want to go see my dinosaur exhibit. I think that's close to 200 letters . I hope you have a great day at the park with the kids.
Wonderful Time there with a Friend who had never been
Went to zoo lights last night for the first time since moving to Houston. It was nice but over pretty quick. They did have hot coco which was a nice touch. I was disappointed to not hear Christmas music as we walked around. That would ve More
It was ok to visit but not alot of animals out when we wete there
During july, it is REALLY HOT. Might miss out on seeing the animals, since they don t want to be in the sun. But they have beer, and dip And dots stops. The route is a little confusing but thankfully we get a map. We bought our tickets online and I highly recommmend you do! The email comes in the next day, make sure you buy it before.
This is a great place to enjoy your day with your friends and family. And also you can see many different animals that you even don't know, and know more about some animals:)
My son loves this place and can t get enough of it
They also have a place you can rent/use for birthday parties and also have a play area
Fun place to visit with the grandkids. As a photographer I find lots of different subjects to work with.
Members for 3years. Love taking the kids and their friends. We always pack a lunch and have a great time. Holiday events make for a fun time as well
We went on a beautiful day where it was cool enough that the lions, tigers, and other cats were out, which was awesome. But the viewing areas closed (because you might stand too close to each other) and the insistence on wearing masks 100% of the time out doors were just too tiring to stay more than a few hours. Always go to the zoo early. Parking is easier, and the animals happier. Now if we could calm down the administrators...
I loved getting to know this place, the animals well cared for.
So clean love the animals and the kite fling the lake beautiful.
I love taking my family to the Zoo it's so many different animals and reptiles etc. my kids love to come here and they get to learn about all the animals it's so informational and you and the family will enjoy yourselves
The zoo has very well developed and maintained exhibits. Animals are active. Parking for the zoo is a nightmare.
Always a great family experience. I had not been in quite some time. The new dragon exhibit was a really cool thing that my grandsons love!
Love zoo frips anywhere. The Houston zoo has some many animals that other Texas zoo's don't have. Staff are very friendly, too.
Most of the zoo is under construction but the kids still enjoyed it!!
Many animals were not there, but overall, after not being there for 8 years, it was great
So much better during this time of the year. You won't dehydrate like during the summer. Its not that jammed pack of people. You can enjoy the exhibits. The zoo has alot to offer and the kids never get bored. Even the little babies had fun looking at the exhibits. The food is alright but its to expect. Its a little expensive. The gift store was a blast. We were able to the kids the items they want because its not that many people. The zoo lights were so beautiful.
We stopped by on the way to Louisiana. First time My Girls and I have been here and so far we are enjoying ourselves. It's a bit hot in Houston today but we were able to drop in to cafe for a nice air conditioned lunch before visiting the Dragon's.
We love the Houston Zoo go early to avoid the crowds and the animals are more active early in the day.
Always been a fan of the zoo they even have some new animals. And if you were flooded like me and received Food Stamps you get a really good discount. Up to 3 kids and 2 adults. $5 a ticket.
Had a great Saturday afternoon noon with my nieces. The weather was comfortable and was not to crowded for a Sat. Parking is still the only thing that I say negative about the zoo ,but always have a great time here.
Houston Zoo needs to improve. The chimpanzee living quarters was squalid, and there was no social distancing.
The zoo is a nice place to visit in Houston. It is a typical zoo, so there won't be anything out of the ordinary there. That's not a bad thing, I just figured I would mention it in case you are looking for a unique experience.
Always a great experience. Your best bet is to get a season pass. If you go twice it's paid for itself.
I went to see the zoo lights. It's definitely a crowded event. It's was hard to get pictures with a sea of people there. All the road was lit along the way, however I felt that it lacked actual main displays. Normally I would take a star for that, but the zoo itself felt like an awesome place to be during the day.
Clean, friendly staff animals look well taken care of.
Me and my family have had membership passes to the Houston Zoo for about 5 years and the Houston Zoo has decent customer service and an amazing collection of animals that are well taken care of! All the habitats have always appeared clean and safe! Parking has always been relatively easy except for holidays.
It was cold so all the animals were out having fun. Place is designed nicely for getting good close visuals of animals
Always a giid time. Only thing went to the Christmas lights its needing be more affordable. 79 almost 80 for three tickers with no real directions or advise.
It is a great place to take kids to get out of the house
I come here every year with my family , never get board watching the nature , the animals and enjoying the weather . Every time I come here I fee like I want to come over and over again .
Went for the zoo lights and was so impressed. I will now go every year. So cool.
I went to see the ZooLights with family. It was wonderful and better than expected. Highly recommended. Get there early or you'll find parking far from Zoo entrance
Never thought I would like a zoo as much as the St Louis Zoo. Always improving. The park has a lot of shade. The staff is nice. Get there early as parking gets full quickly. Great work Team!!!
Grandkids had a blast and with all the discounts it was fairly reasonable...
The zoo is under renovation which takes away from the visit since some of the animals are not out. Still a good trip.
I hadn't been to the zoo since I was a kid. I was so impressed by how clean and beautiful everything was! The employees were friendly, a few greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything. I had such a good time and can't wait to go back again!
Best night scenes were available I wish I could ve cisoted in day time
