We have been members of THE HOUSTON ZOO for years! I love the variety of animals and they let you bring food/drinks in. The 4 D movies are awesome! Catch it when they have the different displays you can elect to go to. My boys loved the DINOSAUR exhibit with life size dinosaur figures that move and make sounds! The HERMAN PARK is right next door with paddle boats and a train ride! THE HOUSTON MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE is a quick walk down the street! SO MUCH FUN!

I really enjoy going to the Houston Zoo because I tend to take trips to Houston for various events, and it's a nice place to spend the day in case you're waiting until the evening for the event to start.

I don't really have any complaints, other than the fact that it can get really packed with people, but I think that's more of a personal preference. The exhibits are usually very well kempt and the animals lively.

Fantastic zoo with friendly staff. Also a great Pokemon Go destination if you're into that sort of thing. The zoo also has "chill zones" with AC. They're usually shops or restaurants but it's helpful during the summer.

Great place to visit some distant relatives... Very fun place to explore but bring plenty of water with you and an umbrella on those extremely hot days. There's a wetlands being built so that should be very interesting. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Beautiful animals! All I ask is be respectful of the animals and do not knock on the glass.... So annoying. I went on a school field trip day so... My bad however adults were doing it. I don't want people knocking on my window while I'm trying to sleep...

Great zoo, all animals in good condition and with enough space to move. Zoo is more like a park where you can spend time with family, also good for tourists.
I had a very good experience when I was feeding the giraffe. Fishes are moving freely in various open waters.

So much fun to see all the different animals. It even rained a little while we were there. The gift shop was a complete disappointment, because everything was over priced. $10 for a mood necklace, please. They were advertising these things More

Lost my sister's super expensive stroller. Fortunately my niece is fine. I left it in parking lot E. if you see anything or know anyone please let me know.

Other than that it was pretty good. She really liked the meerkats.

Always my favorite place to go. It's super educational, the package deal they do for families are amazing. Definitely great deal for kids to enjoy a fun and inexpensive trip.

Everywhere has water fountain and restroom, these facilities are clean and convenient. I never feel frustrated taking the kids there.

They have some amazing animals and the zoo is huge! Every half a year I go there I don't feel bored.
They have new animals or new fish all the time, the plants in the parks are pretty, I am very relaxed when I am there, exhausted the same time because there are way too much things to see.

Love love love our zoo, proud to have it in Houston. Highly suggest parents take the kids and learn the animal kingdom there. It's a trip worth having for kids and adults!

We had a great morning visit to hear the keeper talk on the Clouded Leopard. Throughout our visit both volunteers and keepers were knowledgeable and friendly. The Rhinos were laying in the mud. I was so close to a Zebra! When the weather gets a bit cooler, spend a couple of hours checking out our amazing zoo.

It is a nice zoo but it is so depressing seeing the animals stuck in their habitats. If you feel sad about animals steer clear. Also not much to do besides look at animals. Parking is always a nightmare.

I remember visiting this zoo when I was a kid and had a great time. This zoo has really grown a lot with a bunch of new animals and exhibits. I have visited Disney s Animal Kingdom and the Houston Zoo feels like you are at Disney and this zoo beats the Disney Animal Kingdom by many miles and a whole lot less expensive. The African Forest is a definite must and there is plenty of shade and cool spots. The animals have more than plenty of room to roam, exercise, play, and sleep and they all have friends and mates and they look like they are very well cared for. They even have a splash park to cool off in and for kids to play in. This is definitely NOT a once you seen it you have seen it so it is definitely worth buying a membership because if you come again, you will see something totally different and they are building a the Texas Wetlands exhibits.

If you get the chance it is so worth the time. It was a fantastic display. The lights at the refecting pool were synced to music. It is such a completely different experience in than visiting any other time. Keep an eye on tickets through Groupon or Living Social.
We'll be going again next year.

Very good zoo with massive elephant exhibit. Good kids section along with walk through the trees for monkeys. Feed to giraffes. Fun zoo with little kids, expansive with limited shade in sections

Amazing and clean establishment covering various types of animals and they seem to be well taken care of. It's not just for profit but it also aims to educate the public about conservation. Even though it was hot, the map can tell you where the indoor cold spots are. Food is a bit pricy but they allow outside food. The place is also clean and barely smells (as expected). It is massive! So you'll need the whole day. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Parking can be difficult but it's free.

Love the zoo! We just became members and enjoyed the 'Members Only' early bird hour on Saturday. Crowds were greatly reduced and there was ample parking as the zoo wasn't open for non-members yet. Our favorite animals to visit are the meerkats and elephants!

I have attended the Houston Zoo once in the summer, very hot in the city of Houston. However, I came back into town and my boyfriend took me on a surprise date here for the Zoo Lights. I've always wanted to go! We went on a Monday, it was not as crowded as I know the weekend would have been. I know during Christmas events at different places, there are always some form of Hot Chocolate. This location had a spiked one and I was so happy (wow, that sounds bad). I will def come back if in town.

I love the Houston Zoo! It is always clean and a perfect family outing. Arrive early for free parking or you'll circle the lot for an hour searching, pack yourself a lunch or snacks, and have a great time!

It has been awhile since we visited the zoo but we went today. It is a great place to wear your kids out at! It was clean, not crowded, and overall a good morning. We purchased the one year family membership and have already been enough to cover that cost. It is a great deal to buy it!

Very nice place to walk. Plenty of shade. Would like to see more places to get beverages or water fountains. Also, a better route to see everything without backtracking due to closures. All in all, a wonderful experience.

Definitely a place to enjoy with family and friends. I enjoyed it and you could swing by all the exhibits within a couple of hours. Compared to other major cities this is a lower ranking one in my opinion. I do enjoy it still!

Nice zoo but not the best. Recommend Nashville Zoo over Houston. Staff didn't show for Gorilla presentation. Difficult to navigate. Dinosaur exhibit was the best part. Most animals were not visible; exhibit designs could be better.

Zoo has it all from the red Panda to two silverback gorillas and I can't count how many rhinos I saw, or elephants for that matter this is a great zoo. The only downside that I see is the prices that they put on there halfway decent food and souvenir shop.

Took my kids here, I been to this zoo when I was little. It's a great zoo many animals. When I went they had the dragons exhibit it was pretty cool. Some dragons were huge and made noise and moved.

If going on a weekend, highly recommend getting there early, as parking can be a chore later in the day. Kids always have fun, but little ones will tire early. Bring a small wagon/cart along with some drinks and snacks and you'll have a much more enjoyable time as a parent (Yes, bringing stuff in is allowed). Or you could always eat at the snack stations inside the zoo, but make sure you have some extra to spend.

Amazing zoo! I had an amazing time learning about all the animal. They offer some great experiences and all the animals are well signed if you want to read about them. Some are not always put, but I would definitly return so I could see and lean more. Just a great experience!

Big zoo. Large variety of animals and its really fun to come here. Me and my wife have visited every zoo in Texas and this is by far our favorite. My one advice is to Come early so you can enjoy the enormous facility.
Food is alright but overpriced like any other park. Overall awesome zoo. Check out the giraffes!

The first time we have been to the zoo lights in a couple of years. It was a pleasant surprise that it wasn t too crowded. I really wish they would offer a kid s temp hot chocolate as my son waited forever to drink his and it still burned his tongue.
