Great presentations of the animals and the facilities are well taken care of. You can tell that the caretakers really take pride of the zoo. The staffs are helpful and courteous! Will visit again.

I love the Houston Zoo! Their animal habitats are huge and they seem like they took good care of them. The membership program program is a great, affordable option for families who plan on making multiple visits to the zoo a year.

Not too big but not too small. You will have a good time there. I recommend to get the season passes. You can use the season passes at other zoos such as the Milwaukee zoo. Also, i recommend to get there early due to limited parking.

The zoo is a great experience for every local and tourist to visit. From all sorts of humanely habituated animals to special events this locale has plenty to see and do. My only knock is the prices for some of the add on features like the the feedings, but if you've ever been to any type of amusement park you should be used to this. A great place to visit if in Houston!

Kind of disappointed that when I purchased tickets online they didn't mention so many things were closed in the zoo.But they had so much to look at in the end it was still worth the trip.

Best zoo I've ever visited. Usually I hate zoos because I feel bad for the conditions the animals are kept. But not this one. Very clean, very big, beautiful landscape, well kept animals with ample space to roam. Great price my niece got us in on military discount! Would recommend anyone visiting Houston!

Great zoo, and it s totally enormous! I ve been to zoos all the way from here to California and this would be my favorite. It s massive, the exhibits are well kept and have a ton of variety, and they do offer military discounts as of June 2019. The only major downside is that food and drink are crazy over priced, so if you re bringing kids make sure to bring your own.

We love the Houston zoo! Such a nice place to spend a fun Saturday or Sunday morning with the boys. I have to say we avoid afternoons at all cost - parking in the area is a nightmare and everything gets pretty crowded. The unlimited carousel ride is a nice perk. Good selection of food at a decent price if you decide to have lunch there.

We absolutely love this zoo. If you take the time to go down all of the paths, it is actually larger than it seems. We don't usually have a hard time seeing the animals, they are usually always in view. My daughter loves it when we go here. This year we have purchased the membership and use it often.

I always have a great time here, and it's a fun way to spend three or more hours. There's quite a bit to see, but it always seems like when I head here there is always a section shut down. Hopefully the next time I go everything will be open! Still a great place to visit, the primate area is quite impressive. If you go during the summer, prepare to sweat...however they do have misting areas, and some locations have AC.

Went here today with my family, found parking pretty quickly for a Sunday. I think every time I go to the Zoo, I underestimate how big it is. I was exhausted lol it is under construction so prepare for that. Overall, it was cool.

Great place to take the family and kids out. The zoo lights is a separate charge but a must see for adults. Zoo is really close to all other museums and the children s museum. Herman park offers an amazing walking/jogging path with great views.

The Houston Zoo does a great job at creating a family environment and easy to follow path for viewing. Multiple interactive stations along the way make for great family time and photo opportunities.

A very pleasant experience in the heart of the city. The Houston Zoo is a very well maintained and beautiful property. The staff is wonderful and knowledgeable, and help make this a great place to visit. Even on a crowded day, there is plenty of room to move about and see the animals without difficulty. Make sure to set aside plenty of time as the property is large and there is a lot of walking to see it all. Plenty of things geared toward the kids to keep them occupied and a lot of shady places to grab a seat to rest. Like most tourist places, the prices are high for food and souvenirs, but the admission was reasonable, and there is no charge for parking. Overall the zoo and the surrounding park are a great getaway for a day. BTW....don't miss the elephants or the meerkats!

Huge zoo (especially when you're wrangling kids) packed with interesting animals and amazing enclosures that make you feel as though great thought was put into animal needs and welfare.

The biggest upset is the lack of parking and difficulty that comes with not being there at opening, getting a good parking space, and not having to hike across Hermann Park (nice as it is).

One of the best zoos I have ever been to. It is small but had everything. You don't need to walk great distances between different animals, everything is close by. Houston days are very hot, be sure to have sun protection or come at early or late hours.

I haven t been to the zoo in FOREVER! This time taking the kids I didn t have my hopes very high but let me tell you how wonderful our trip was! On a Sunday. Parking was terrible but....inside the zoo it wasn t too packed, there s soooo much more shaded areas than I remember and the animals were actually out! We walked up on a couple of trainers giving animals snacks and it was a great way to see the animals as well as see the care the trainers have for the animals! I loved it! We will go back and we will take everyone we know!

Everything is easily accessible, the animals were all out to see, there are several shows you can catch throughout the day. Lots if interactive stuff for the kids. Plenty of restrooms and eating places.

We are zoo members, which is really worth it if you have little kids. We go about every other week. Most people don't know that they have a great aquarium just to the right of the entrance, so of it gets too nasty outside, just take a break in there. Other highlights are too numerous to mention! Parking can be a bear, so either get there early or go on a weekday.

Overall, we had a good time at this zoo. Only downside is that it is currently under construction. There is a park next to the zoo along with a pond you can paddle boat around. I'm assuming the train goes around both the zoo and the park. It's a great place for an all day outing with anyone.

Toooooo good!

Toooooo good!
It is big.. no doubt everything is grand in Texas!
This place will give you a good time to walk around in the wilderness (literally).
There are various species of wildlife and the zoo is really well maintained and bustling with crowd of all ages.
There are many restrooms and cafe houses in between. Don t forget to take the guide map at the start of you zoofari so you are able to navigate through the big zoo easily.
Plan to spend 4-5 hours if you wish to cover the whole thing.
You can also go there and not see the whole thing but enjoy time with family, kids or friends.
Parking is ample around the zoo, and you can find a spot pretty quickly.
You can carry your own eatables and drinks.
If it s sunny get your sunscreen on and carry enough liquids to sip as you walk through. Carry googles and a hat or a cap if it is sunny.

Great experience. Would definitely come back, it it a huge place and full of places to discover. Would stay away from the dinosaurs theme, it seems they were someone's DIY and they charge you for that, I was surprised that this awesome zoo has such a poor quality Attraction..

This zoo has such a wide variety of animals to view. You are able to get pretty close to them also. As with any place you are visiting the food and drinks are quite expensive. But a portion of the sales do to directly to the zoo. Though getting not getting a straw for your drink can be inconvenient, especially if you have little ones, it is for the safety of the animals. If you are planning to go on the free days be sure to get there way ahead of time to get a parking spot. I spent an hour fighting to get a parking spot. But other than that it was an amazing day with the kids seeing all the animals and even hearing the monkeys.

Awesome place for any occasion. Love the interactions within the park. Just avoid spending at the gift shop... it s outrageously over priced. Two miniature plush toys 50$ can t beat that said no one ever. Anyways, the park was nice slightly crowded but not too bad. I enjoyed the day with my wife. We brought our own snacks to avoid paying. Although the food did look very good and fancy. We had a memorable day it was my wife s first time ever at any zoo! 25$ per person was worth it. After a long day of walking and animal seeing we went to Panda Express and called it a day. Also keep up with schedule for the sea lion show and be 15 minutes early to have a good sight of view!

Went back in January to the light festival. It was beautiful. It was very elaborately lit up. Hot chocolate was on sale at regular intervals which was nice in the January weather. Also for sale was popcorn and cotton candy. It was very enjoyable.
