We love coming to the Houston zoo, things are pretty restricted right now because of Covid but the brief walk around the zoo was lovely. They are always updating and changing things around. Makes the next visit that much more interesting.

I love the Houston Zoo. Even when it's super hot, there's plenty of shade and scattered buildings with AC. Their keeper talks are fun and informative for me and my kids. It's one of the few places for which we keep a yearly membership.

Love taking friends who are visiting, also a great place for kids. Things to know - (1) parking is rough so come early, (2) you can bring in food and drinks so do that and (3) wear sunglasses cause it s sunny but you can jump under trees for shade. Elephant enclosure is my favorite and make your way to the back for the gorillas and monkeys, really neat setup. MAKE A DONATION by the seals, Houston does a lot for the wildlife community so make a difference too.

There's a lot of different animals and its an awesome place to teach kids about different animals. I didn't even know some of these animals existed before today and now I have a new favorite animal.

It was good. Got there around 9 and was already packed. Thankfully we found a spot. There's many animals but not enough of 1 kind. I wanna go back in the late spring, early summer and check out the new exhibits that are supposed to be there. I felt like the gift shop, food and drinks were so expensive. The Zoo itself is expensive. $16 for children over 2 and $20 for kids 12 and up to adults. Hoping to purchase membership tickets next time. Maybe leave alot earlier to get better parking. I stay in New Caney so it already takes us 44 minutes to get there. Other than that it was fun and the kids enjoyed themselves seeing animals they arent normally around. I wanted to go to the BUG spot but strollers arent allowed.

This zoo is so green! It's so beautiful. By far the most beautiful one I've been to. The price isn't bad. Parking wasn't bad nor was getting to the location. I will definitely go again if I'm in town

Great place to take the family. if you like going to the zoo more than once a year I recommend buying a membership it's cheaper. Don't forget to pack a lunch and fluids the prices are pretty steep but they have great picnic locations.

I'm from the D.M.V area and our zoo is free as mater of fact our museums are free aswell but thats nit the reason for my star rating, staff being unprofessional and everything being so expensive not to mention your entry fee. Not worth it better off traveling somewhere where you can enter free and spend that money that would of otherwise been spent for an entry in the gift shop or food court.

It's a really nice zoo. I think they lack a hippo, big gator( for now) parking is impossible. Going to have a shoot out over that one day. City should help build two big garages or something.

Plenty of things to do for toddlers. Specific area indoors where they can play house, explore through small caves, and fish . Petting zoo is at far end of the zoo so I recommend starting there first or else your kid will likely be wiped out by the time you get there lol tons of cool animals and you can t beat their Zoo lights during the Christmas time!

Huge zoo. Couldn't explore half of it. If you are taking a toddler or preschooler go straight to the kids area. There is a petting zoo, a playground and a splashpad (remember little swimmers or you'll have to buy one if your child is still in diapers) my kids had so much fun and we will definitely be going back!

My husband and I were amazed with the zoo, we enjoyed it as if we were children. We were able to meet species of animals that we did not even know existed. We have visited other zoos but this one surprised us. We walked around 3 hours and we needed more time to go through it all.

We took advantage of the first Tuesday of the month for the free visit.

Great visit, my only complaint is the parking. It was a MESS, being spring break there were more people, but the signage was poorly diaplayed, the additional lots they opened were all full as well, and we ended up paying $20 for parking at the rodeo event lots.

It was a relaxing fun filled day with family. There were not many people which made it even better. They keep adding and updating the park which gave a wide variety of animals to look at and interact with.

The latest and current updates to the Zoo makes repeated trips worth it. The family loved the new food truck type food options. Quick service and delicious on food. Something we didn't know was you can bring your own food and beverages in, plus a cooler too. My biggest complaint was getting tickets to get in. There was only one ticket booth open and the staff seemed uncaring and very slow to do their job. It took almost 30min to get in, and that was when the line wasn't very long.

Great place to take the kids, the staff is friendly and helpful. And the kids naturally have a blast looking at all the cool exhibits and animals. Have taken my kids there many times over the years and they never got bored. Thankfully the lions stay in their pens and the snakes don't get out of their boxes. But if you like to touch animals & don't mind smelly goats, the children's petting zoo is the way to go.

Not the cheapest thing for a family of six to do, but well worth it! We actually got a discount because we're members of our local smaller zoo. There is a reciprocal program. Lots of interesting animals. We spent five hours here. Could have spent more time, but they were closing.

Try to come once a year. Never left unhappy always left with an appreciation for nature and the beautiful animals. Have to say it can gets pricey when you come with the family. Tickets are quite expensive but it all goes into preservation of the zoo so I don t mind it. Zoo lights is something to see also in the winter.

We visited the Zoo Lights last night and had rented a wheelchair for my mom. Rental rules are $10 no big deal, leave ID for return the equipment (completely understandable); however when returning the chair the staff had either lost my ID or worse given it to someone else. The employee in the booth had a very bad attitude as if I was the cause of her line getting long and impatient. The next person in charge said nothing and called for park management. At no time was their a "we are sorry", nor did they ever make any effort to make it better for the inconvenience they have caused me. Perhaps this happens so often they do not need to train staff of how to handle this and just go with "well nothing we can do and deal with it yourself" mentality.

Our family loves visiting this zoo. It can get really busy, but most times the crowds aren't too bad. Make sure to bring some water, it can get really hot when you're not in the shaded areas.

The zoo has an amazing collection and I got to see many animals I have never seen before!

I have young kids (2 and 4) and they had lots of fun.

However, I think it's overpriced for the size (especially with so much under construction right now) and it was just crazy full of field trip kids.

It was a good place to see with varied number of animals. However, the website says here it closes at 830pm. But we were asked to leave earlier because it is actually closing at 7pm. It's kinda confusing. We weren't able to see everything and we thought we had ample time. Otherwise, such a nice place to spend with family.

Love it, so much to see and do. There is a building all about sea shells which I found fasinating as I love sea shell searching on the beach so it was neat to learn about them. The animals are always out which is nice too. Decent food as well. During Christmas time the whole place is lit up in Christmas lights. They have stuff going on all the time.

Loved that some of the major exhibits are both indoor and outdoor. We are able to enjoy watching the animals despite this Texas heat. There's also lots of shaded areas as you walk about which definitely made our experience more enjoyable. We will mostly likely revisit this place again in the future.

The animals are well cared for with protection from the heat, and despite that we still got to see all of them up close! The giraffe feeding is definitely worth the money. Zoo food is always expensive, but the portions are large and the food is actually very high quality. If visiting in the summer, remember to take breaks at the indoor exhibits! Construction is also going on right now, so you have to walk around it instead of through it when navigating, but we didn t really mind.

Love this Houston Zoo. We are members and love going. During the summer there are plenty of places and exhibits to escape the heat. The African animals (gorillas, chimps, giraffes, rhinos) have a pretty great exhibit and for a couple of dollars you can feed the giraffes.

The elephants are a must see too. Check the daily schedule when you arrive for a list of daily feedings, enrichments, and keeper talks.

There is also a children's zoo with a playground, North American animals, and a petting zoo.

The bug exhibit is fantastic you should definitely check out the giant bugs and the wombat exhibit is right next to that. Natural encounters is a must see too.
