Overall a very good place but disappointed just for the gorilla view I spent 25 dollars and the reason behind that gorilla but unfortunately gorilla was in cave and barely visible not able to see it spent like 8 hours in zoo for the moment that never arrived for the other animals there were places through which u can see them closely but not for gorilla really disappointed because of that
One of the best zoos we have been to ever! Lots of great exhibits, events, camps, etc. The downside of course is the parking but they do have an Uber line if that's doable.
I thought the lights were going to be pretty lol. It was my first year going reading all the good reviews. I was not that impressed. A lot of walking. Maybe next year it will be better.
One of the better zoo s I ve been too, animals all looked relatively healthy. The gorilla was the best animal in there, looked so lively and playing around.
Animals always tired and sleep. We hardly saw few.
Our granddaughters enjoyed their visit to the Houston Zoo.
Too much to see in one day. My granddaughter liked the monkeys best.
It has gotten pricey over the years. It is big and it is a nice place to go but look at the discount days.
Not been here in years. What a great place to spend the day.
Houston Zoo is by far one if the best Zoos on the US, especially now that they got the Gorillas back!!!!! :) it's always clean, staff is helpful and the exhibits are set up perfectly! Wonderful way to spend the day with family or friends!! And you can always find coupons or discount codes so that helps with prices! Get there early tho to get good parking
It was very much as I expected. Fun. Had lots of shade places.
Amazing place. Our kids love it and so do we.
We tend to go there every month or so. Elephant bathing is a lot of fun to watch. Must see !!!
Absolutely adore the Houston Zoo. There is so much to see and do. Also love that they let you bring in your own food and drinks.
First time at this zoo. It is huge and alot of walking but worth it. Got some really good pictures of the animals. My favorite was the big cats. One of them meowed just like a regular cat but not very loud. I thought it was the cutest thing. Weather was really nice. We spent over 4 hours in there but still didn't get to see everything. We will definitely come back to see the remaining sections. They are also doing construction for more exhibits. Can't wait to see the wetland exhibit they are bringing. The refreshments are spaced apart just right. Prices aren't too bad. I really liked the gift shops. Found some really cool things.
Is so much walking but it was nice the lion s were finally awake . The only thing I didnt like is that they were doing construction so some of the short cuts were closed off and alot of animals were put away.
My kids enjoyed it. Clean, well maintained and animals are well taken cared. We will be back here soon
Great place for kids and adults alike! The place is always spotlessly clean and the circle cafe has fantastic food!
This place was Beautiful... This was our first time going to The Houston Zoo. I was really impressed with the whole place. They had a lot of shaded areas and cool down spots. Staff seemed happy to be working there and were very friendly. Animals seemed well taken care off and given cool down areas as well. I loved it! They had gorillas and chimpanzees. I was so intrigued and happy to be able to see them up close. This by far is the best Zoo that I've been to. We had memberships to S.A. Zoo, but this Zoo was way better and well shaded. They have nice fun looking play areas and a splash pad for the kiddos. It was such a beautiful clean environment. Even the animal enclosures were well taken care of. I have so much good stuff to say about this place. I hope to visit again and be able to see anything we missed this visit. Only thing I didn't understand was why was the Dinosaur exhibit extra? Just to walk around in a U shape to see a few dinosaurs. Here in S.A. they're spread out and you're able to view them through out the park.
Great time walking and seeing the lights. Not crowded at all.
Development is going on. But you can watch all the animals there.
Great for the most part. Nice enclosures, especially the Gorilla enclosure. Good to know they have plenty of space. I was worried for some of the cats though. Very hot outside with little to no water in sight for the Cougar and Ocelot. I can only hope it was simply hidden.
I have been to a lot of Zoos all over the world and this was def one of the best! Extreme variety of animals and the animals seem to have more space than most zoos in the enclosures. Early in the morning the animals seemed to be more active. Staff was also helpful and free parking. Can't wait to go again! Woopwoop!
Nice arena. Put on light dress during summer to help with the heat. Many of the animals of interest were sleeping while I was there around noon. The place is quite full and getting a parking space was very difficult.
We had a wonderful experience today. This zoo offers free entry on every 1st Tuesday of each month. Very well managed and organized zoo. Lion, tigers cheetah, elephants, bear all animals were very active and visible.
It was a great 1st time at the HOUSTON ZOO! the kids had a blast. We got to see some new animals we didn't know existed.
If you can swing getting the memberships it's totally worth it!
Enjoyed the zoo yesterday it was a little on the cold side so most of the primates were not out, the big and small cats were active.
Very disappointed in our last visit, there were very few open exhibits.
Small cats need more room and the orangutan need a friend.
It has been 20 years plus since I have visited the Houston Zoo. Great to see all the improvements to the natural habitats of the animals. Hteat job Houston Zoo Staff.
great place to bring the family on the weekdays when its not super busy
Great place to spend few hours in middle of Houston. Parking is bit of an issue
It was a nice experience, we loved visiting all the animals spots. My little brother enjoyed it so much.
I try to go here every weekend. Bought the membership pass so it was well worth it. The food Is really good but expensive. You can bring your own food which I do occasionally. The animals look well and playful, except the big cats they sleep all the time. The zoo keeps it very clean and well organized. It can be a bit crowded depending on what time you get tbere and how long you stay. I just love going to the zoo. I take family and friends with me or I just go by myself. It's great for all ages. If anyone is deciding whether or not to go, I'd say go for it. My favorite is the bat caves and the new beautiful gorilla exhibit.
They should really have said something on the website that half the zoo is closed. Other than that it's the zoo
This is such a good location for relaxing day with friends and family. I would recommend bringing a cooler for snacks and drinks so long as it's not a glass bottle or alcohol.
It's a beautiful zoo experience. Wear sun screen and bring a picnic for the park later.
There for Flocktoberfest. Free if Flock member or else $45 per person. Free St Arnold beer and food pairings. Open bar also . Animal interactions. Good time
The Houston Zoo is a very family friendly establishment. What an amazing experience my family and I had. My husband really enjoyed it and he doesn't usually like zoos. Check it out in Hermann Park!
It was under construction when I went so there weren t a lot of exhibits, and there were too many detours. I m not really the Zoo type of person so my review could be a little bias.
Great city zoo right next to the Med Center. The exhibits are very comprehensive and most of the walk ways are shaded with beautiful shade trees.
Love the zoo!! Nice place to walk around and watch the animals.
Everything was closed and they still charged full price
Always love going to the zoo. Got there about 10:45 and have a hard time getting a parking spot. Saw the dinosaur exhibit. It was good but wouldn't go to only see them. We went for the animals. We saw lots of cats this time and birds this time. It was hot, so make sure to drink plenty of water.
Great time as a family of 3. We went on a Monday morning and it was quiet to start and was just the right amount of busy into early afternoon. It was slow enough that our 2 year old walked the whole time.
Ate at the cafe for lunch and it was a great meal! Healthy portion, my husband and I shared the muffaletta.
Zoo keepers were entertaining and you could.tell they love what they do. We enjoyed the sea lion show, petting zoo, and elephant bath.
Great first zoo experience for my son, we will be back!
I love the zoo but I visited outside the zoo as I love to go and feed the ducks and then just sit out by the infinity pool and enjoy the breeze. It's become my new favorite place to unwind hey some exercise or just get some good fresh air. And I've seen the park really being a lot cleaner than years past. Yes you will see a few homeless people but you will see them being respectful and not bothering anybody.
Horrible.. You could not go into the critures part and other closed in areas for peoples strollers and wagons and no kid was in them.. And 3 burgers with fries OMG a joke. We paid $53.29 for only 3. And the seals.. Oh lawd. There show was giving them one little fish each and leaving..Not at all What i expected..wasted time and gas and lots of money on nothing.
The zoo is always clean, and a fun place to go! They offer free admission on the first Tuesday of every month except in the summer. With two small children, I grab my stroller and snacks, and we spend the day there! Just a note; free admission starts after 12pm.
The zoo keepers love the animals and take good care of them. The baby elephant is adorable.
Great place to take children, especially as the weather starts to cool. However, feed them before as is usual at all of these places, food is double or more in cost. Get there early as parking gets very crowded. It took 45 min. driving around the parking lot waiting for someone to pull out.
Loved the Brew at the Zoo. What a great fundraiser and great time!
All I can say is just awsome my 2 going on 3 year old son loves it I would recommend getting a year family pass we'll worth it gets you in quicker an after 2 or 3 visits it's paid for only $200
Absolutely golden! They have a wide variety of animals and the activities are super fun!! I recommend coming either early in the day or late. The animals are usually inside or asleep because it's so hot in the afternoon. Also this is an amazing date spot for anyone looking for a semi cheap but super fun interactive date!!
We came for the Zoo lights and loved it! Loved seeing the giraffes walking around at night. Especially the baby one! Split a funnel cake with my boyfriend and it was delicious!
Nice atmosphere. Pleasant surroundings. Clean environment..The animals are kept in their natural habitat as close as a builder can get.. It's not Africa but the simulation is not bad at all. One thing, entry price is kinda pricey $$ at $18 for adults as well as the food. Let's give them 4 shiny ...-1 for the price to reconsider at future board meetings.
We love this zoo! Great place to bring the kids and grandkids! The was an animated dragon exhibit! So cool!
Zoo lights were beautiful last night. Can't wait to go back.
Great zoo, the place is very clean, organized and the food is really good..
We really enjoyed the zoo. It was a super hot day and the cooldown spots were very welcome. We enjoyed seeing the jellyfish, the small mammals and birds. The highlight was definately the elephants and gorilla. I am not sure the extra $2.95 for the bug exhibit was worth it tho.
Love going to the zoo went with the family. The only thing that we didnt like is the new one way layout we felt like there wasn't many signs guiding you through the new route. Other than that we enjoyed it.
My favorite place in Houston. It gets better every year and the kids love it.
Many areas were closed due to the coronavirus control and ongoing construction. The Houston Zoo is always a great place to visit. I gave it 3 stars simply because of the timing. If you are planning to visit the zoo anytime soon, my advice would be to hold off until it goes back to normal. If you have no other choice and are just visiting, then yeah I would say go right now.
Unique experience.. The habitats are well maintained for all kinds of animals and birds.. a great variety of wildlife can be experienced !!! The aquarium is very nice too..The new attraction is Texas Wetland, opening soon in 2019.. It should be a day's out for kids :) 1st Tuesday of every month is free entry to the zoo, except for 3 months of summer..
amazing $5 entry and children are free with Lone Star card for parents who are unable to pay the $19 fee to enter the zoo there are so many hands activities for children of all ages the food area is a little expensive but you're more than welcome to bring your own food ice chest Etc to the park there are few exhibits that are indoors that don't allow strollers there are plenty of shaded resting areas and signs and maps to navigate you through the park we went during weekday which there were enough people to be engaged and active with but no lines and not crowded bring you some bug spray because we did encounter a mosquito bite to the forehead but other than that we had a blast and bring plenty of water Frozen grapes orange slices pack some sandwiches if you want to save a couple of bucks like we did
I always enjoy visiting the zoo! There is construction at times because they are improving some areas, but it pays off when you see the new section. There's plenty of carts for food, souvenirs, and there are fun things for the kids to do. The only thing that needs to get fixed is the parking situation--too many people, but not enough parking spaces. Other than that, plan well and you will definitely have a wonderful time!
Great family fun. Have lots of places to cool down in the Texas heat and always have fun things to teach the kids.
Don't go for the winter lights...It's a waste of money they're no animals. For some reason they put them up and the one's they didn't got blocked off by barricades. Total rip off!!!
Most of the animals only had a single pair, many of the enclosures seemed very small. We spent 5 hours there and it felt like we had gone slowly and exhausted everything available to do and see. Large swaths of the zoo are closed for renovations, which is openly shown on the maps. I don't regret going with free tickets, but I'd have felt cheated if I had paid.
Very clean and friendly. The staff take great care of the animals. Go early in the summer as the animals may be inside in the hot afternoon.
Loved the zoo. So many animals to see and it wasn't busy when it opened.
