Zoo lights is an overpriced joke this year. Prices went up but displays not only stayed the same, half of them weren't even on. For $40 a couple, and $7 warm cocoa, I would expect it to be seen from space.

The Houston Zoo is place to visit, have picnics, relax, enjoy, and appreciate the beauty of nature. There are several exotic/wild animals to see. Children would really enjoy visiting this zoo because they can see the many animals they learn about in the classrooms or see in cartoons and movies. Houston Zoo, one of the many attractions of H-Town!

Fun activity with the kids! Bring your own food/snacks(the snacks and food at the zoo can get really expensive. I would recommend you get there bright and early so that you can be ahead of the crowd. Once it does get crowded it s a little bit hard to maneuver around especially if you have kids or stroller. But a great day to spend a whole day out with the kids. You can rent a stroller or wagon if you like which is a plus.

Really disappointed going to the zoo today. Could not see birds, reptiles, butterflies, and monkey cages in the middle of the zoo. All closed because of covid. But not a problem everyone congregating inside the gift shop. Checkout line with many people two foot apart.

Really good zoo! Exhibits are very well done and zoo is very well set up. Located just south of downtown and in the heart of the medical center. I've always considered this one of the best zoo's in the country, do yourself a favor and take your family!

Well cared for Animals! A place where you can go see exotic animals up close yet not in the wild where they would be a danger to you. You get to go study them and see what they are like in their great Majesty. The Houston Zoo is huge get out there take a walk enjoy your day. No better place to do it than the Houston Zoo a must-visit. Great food great drinks great time! Stop by and enjoy all the amenities. For me and my family it is always a must stop. The money you spend on the ticket helps care for the animals so please stop by as often as you can as it is expensive to take care of wild animals who need their care.

Wonderful zoo! Large variety of animals. They appear to being treated humanely, as humanely as cages/pens can be, but that's the price of conservation and education, I guess. Staff is friendly and informative. Plaques give good blurbs about the animals. Went for my 28th birthday and fed the giraffes, so not just a place for kids (though may want to avoid peak times in the summer, or be bombarded with kiddos).

I thought it was a great zoo, I m from a little town call Brownsville and we have our own zoo. It s consider to be one of the biggest and best zoo s in all of Texas but I have to admit something here, this one is way better then ours. Yes the food and drinks along with the merchandise is expensive but the majority of the profits go to the animals. Which is a great cost, hats off to the staff in showing my wife and I a great time by answering our questions and directing us through the zoo. In conclusion, this was a great zoo, a great place to take your spouse to and most important the best way to bring your kids, thank you Houston zoo for showing us a great time

The day was fantastic!! Bought tickets for 10 ppl. The Zoo was clean, food was great, staff was so helpful and kind. So many exhibits...wow.
Upon exciting I asked about family passes and got to put my entire ticket purchase towards my membership. And with my school district Id, the best membership package cost me 8$.
Wow!!!!!!!!!! I've been coming to the zoo since I was 8. Every Saturday I came with my dad.
Not I'm 54 and bring my grandkids. There's nothing like it!
Thank you Houston Zoo. We love you.

I expected this zoo to one, be bigger or have more room for their animals, but not only that, hardly anything was open due to the construction that's taking place in the middle of the zoo! Ate at one of the cafes and the staff was rude, order wasn't correct, and food was cold over by the giraffes and rhinos payed over 40 dollars for food so I expected it to be great! Animals were mostly all sleeping or not in their cages. Otherwise very clean zoo! The indoor exhibits are a must if you go! Those were the best part of the zoo! And air conditioned.

We were there most recently as part of a family overnighter. Very good program, and we had a chance to see animals that are more active in the evening, at night, and/or early morning. Package included admission for the next day, as long as you could last after walking around the zoo three times as part of the program. We have also been for Zoo Lights and enjoyed that as well. There is some significant construction in the middle as part of modernizing the exhibits. The new gorilla habitat is amazing.

The Houston Zoo is one of the best places in Houston to visit if you're an animal lover or looking for a place to take the kids for something fun and different

I've been several times over the last few years and I have to say I've always enjoyed the things I've seen there. The animals are well taken care of and the place is huge, giving you lots of different sights to see.

One of my favorite times to visit is during the Christmas holiday because that's when Zoo Lights takes place. This is where the entire zoo is lit up in amazing displays of Christmas lights after the sun goes down. This is a separate event from regular zoo admission but well worth the price to go and see.

I'd recommend this to anyone who is new to Houston or visiting from out of town. I've gone with kids, friends, and relatives that we've brought from overseas and everyone has enjoyed it. You won't regret visiting this place.

We have been a member of the zoo for many years. This is a great organization and makes for a fun day for family visits or a quick trip on my own. They also have many additional events throughout the year - movie nights, Halloween park nights, Feast with the Beasts. Definitely worth the visit, and worth a membership if you plan ongoing more than twice a year.

This was an amazing zoo. Tons of shade. Beautiful animals. The layout was great. Can bring in food/drinks. This was the best part of our vacation and our favorite place. We didnt eat anything from there. The giftshop was pricey. But everything else was awesome!

This is a great place to spend with your kids. And if you make it on time for most of the shows and documentaries, it will add up a lot of value and information to the experience.
Animals are a great subject to study and what a greater place to start it if not at the Houston Zoo?!
Just consider to spend at least half of a day if not the whole one because there are so many thing to see. You may even consider bringing a light garden card / radio flyer cart to help your kids move from one point of interest to the next one. Everybody will be exhausted by the end of that day, but having a great experience.
Dare to plan it! Dare to go! And have a lot of fun!

It was a wonderful experience! So many different animals to see and so many different things to do! I would highly recommend it to any animal lover or anyone looking for a fun, adventure-filled time. It is very clean (besides some bird poop on the floor in certain areas; probably from the crows) and very well kept. In addition, the employees are very kind and helpful. Environment is also great for families. The only complaint I have is the price of the food and the price to feed the giraffes. Other than that, it's a marvel beyond worthy of being explored!

Did an overnight stay with cub scout. We stayed in the educational center. The group was taken on a hike through the zoo during the night and early morning when it was closed to the public. It was an awesome time!

this is the 2nd time my partner and I have been turned away. On google it says the zoo closes at 4pm & when we arrived at 3:16 the gates were already down and the staff told us that they closed at 3pm

Did I mention this is the second time we have arrived before 4pm and we re turned away.

Disappointed.

Typically a great experience, unfortunately they had misleading signs regarding additional parking and shuttles to the zoo. The signs lead us to the medical center, with no over flow parking, and NO SHUTTLES. Means carrying your kids a couple miles just to get to the zoo
