Very nice zoo with a good mix of typical and more rare animals. Was able to get through it quickly in two hours, but could definitely have spent longer there. The zoo was actually open until 7pm when I visited, but they cut off ticket sales at 6pm.

Take the day off and enjoy nature. Especially the snakes. The African green mamba is exquisite. There is noting like the green and the black mamba, they will stare into your eye and catch your soul from behind the glass. It is an awesome experience staring into the eyes of the nature s most aggressive killers.

Then there are the beautiful birds singing in most beautiful voices. It is peaceful. I had a lot of fun, I felt like a kid walking in the rain and enjoying the views of what God has created.

I would like to see more local Houston, Texas wildlife, insects, snakes, ants, etc in the zoo. I would love to contribute towards the local wildlife exhibits of Houston and/or Texas.

Thank you for a beautiful and a safe environment for everyone to enjoy.

Family all had a good time. Definitely not worth paying the high price of regular admission. On top of paying high price for admission the food and snacks are a little high as well. Basically just paying to walk around and see Christmas lights. I would recommend going on value nights.

My kids n parents enjoyed the zoo just think that they should add more animals they have like two animals in one cage with lots of space they can add more in there some looked like they were empty with no animals but besides that we all had a great time kids enjoyed the water park i would go again

It's been years that we didn't come to visit the zoo. But my boys are in spring break and they wanted to go to the zoo. The only thing I don't like is that they don't have enough parking. We got here on time and there wasn't no where to park. The parking lot was full and we had to park far.

The zoo keeps getting better and better. Exhibits and we'll maintained and the layout is fairly intuitive. Signs outside of exhibits are informative and interesting. Parking is limited, especially on weekends, due to popularity.

I loved the animals, but I was disappointed that they no longer had the Bengal tiger. The water fountains were also scarce for it being so hot here in Houston. However, it was still a wonderful experience nonetheless. Parking was free and relatively convenient. Had a great time.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the park. But the parking on the other hand was terrible. People think if they follow someone to their parking place they have a right to take it even if you have been waiting in the roll to park. A lot of rude people and they wonder why there is so much violence it is because of people like this that have no consideration for others.

First time I've been back in many years. While the signage has been updated can't say the same thing about the exhibits. On the positive side it was clean and free of debris. I was disappointed to see how expensive it was : yet I realize feed and care of the animals isn't cheap either

I ve been a zoo member for several years now and for the price I think it s a no brainer. I go as often as I can with my family or up to the 10 guests. Every time I go it reminds me of my childhood when I would go during school field trips. I don t have kids of my own just yet, but I like taking my little cousins and I enjoy watching them have a good time

Very well maintained and home for rescued wildlife. Staff and management doing a great job to provide best customer service. Lot to do for kids and adults. Sometime they do have exhibitions going on like dino world. Its a full day trip if u are animal lover to fully enjoy the zoo. Definately recommended for families and friends.

Wonderful experience. The zoo is well maintained. We can take our own food or get it from the restaurants inside. Apart from the animals and birds they had the petting farm and play area for kids as well. Overall it was very enjoyable.

Cons: Parking was rediculous. Took 20 minutes just to get to the lot half a mile away. Word of advice, on Herman Park Dr there is two lanes and the lane on the right is super long bc everyone thinks it's the correct line but it ends up merging left so you mine as well get there first. probably would have cut out 10 min. Second was the hot chocolate. We paid $5 for a hot chocolate and another $4 if you want a shot of Bailey's or peppermint schnapps. It was terrible. Turns out the cart we got it from was the culprit, we went inside the food court and theirs was yummy. Pros the lights were beautiful in many areas. Lots of concession areas and photo opportunities. We bought our tickets online so we skipped all the long lines as they were waiting in line for ticket purchase. Professional photographers at the entrance to take photos. Txu was there giving away really cute photo frames that have "zoo lights" etched so it makes a great keepsake. We bought (2) 4x6 photos of our professional pictures and it was $19.

Each staff member that helped us was more than helpful and nice, I think it's a bit pricey but not worth what u pay! $20+for a 3 yr old is outrageous pretty sure I'll only come back if they have specials on kids tickets

Brilliant Zoo. Lots of animals in nice looking enclosures with plenty to see. Easy to get to. Plenty of places to get food or refreshment (over priced so take what you can with you) and good gift shops. Availability of trolleys for kids looked like it made life much easier for some people. The Zoo is easy to get around and in well organised sections. Visited at a weekend and the line took some time. The ticketing booths were not in any kind of hurry whilst the line baked in the heat. Also the other gate which would have been useful to exit through was not open. This was not obvious until trying it and staff that were spoken to did not mention it. However a great attraction to visit.

Very fun for all ages, and it has a lot of interactive pieces placed around the zoo. Staff was very friendly and overall allowed my group to have a wonderful time there.

Side note, if you plan on going, do so in the morning or when it opens, everything is so vast that it does take hours to see everything. (Also the lovely Shoebill was donated, but they are currently working on more to replace him).

This zoo is fantastic! The exhibits are great, the staff are friendly, and it is well kept. We love how much you can learn and the unique opportunities (like giraffe feeding) that are available. This is definitely a must-see here in Houston.

well built. costs about $20 to get in. If you want to see the whole thing, plan for a full day. Parking can be difficult to find in the weekends in-spite of having huge parking. Oh, they sell cotton candy inside :)
There is a little play area for kids. There is a train ride outside the Zoo. There is a lake too.

Great place to take the family. When buying tickets you receive a map which has events occurring that day as well as different popular attractions and where to find them. Currently they are expanding making a wet land and a big bud exhibit. A wrist band of choice is included with every ticket purchased. In the bird exhibit area you will see many chickens walking around. They have many gift shops and different areas with fun facts that are sure to surprise the whole group. Be sure to take sunscreen and bug repellent on hot days as well as Sun umbrellas if possible. You are allowed to bring your own food if you don't want to buy the expensive food you can find there.

I was so looking forward to visiting the Zoo lights with other senior living residents. What a disappointment, an expensive one to boot. The ticket costs $11.50 each for seniors and for that we saw basically the same thing over & over. The paths were dark and a hazard to my group, and there were few signs indicating how to get around. Near the end I stopped in a food area and a friend and I ordered a glass of wine. It was $9 for one can of wine and when we split it, we hardly had a couple of swallows. That was the straw that broke the camel;s back for me. Talk about price gouging! Never again.

A lot to see and do, especially if you have a kid. Be prepared to walk. Go early in the morning on the weekends to find parking. Parking is the only issue. They need to build a parking structure next to the zoo.

A long time visitor to the zoo since the 90's. They've added so much and kept the grounds perfectly clean over the years. The Houston zoo rivals the San Diego zoo, and is by far the best zoo experience in Texas.

I have loved visiting the zoo since moving here many years ago, so much fun to take kids, highly recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks though. They do have water fountains and water bottle filling stations. Also a splash pad when it's warm.

I enjoyed this zoo very much, the cages of the animals were clean and large enough for the animals to move comfortably. Although the heat was bad, the animals seemed to be properly taken care of and the staff were friendly. We bought the Houston city pass which included the zoo and it's worth every bit of the money spent.

Been to several zoos by far one of the best and worth the money only bad thing I can say is parking is a real pain in the bottom. You will have to get there early or pay for parking . We drove around for 45 minutes for a spot one time .
