Hotel nice and quiet, modern, well maintained and clean .. A bit expensive although for San Francisco it is correct

Great location, clean, rooms with style, mega friendly staff!
No recent as a hotel but in a good location in San Francisco.
great service and awesome decor. looks like a hermes styled hotel with a san fran twist. would definitely be back if visiting sf
I stayed here 2 nights. I had trouble finding it. I thought it was more central. I spent 20 minutes walking from the nearest BART stations, in the midst of tramps and stoned people among the ups and downs of San Francisco. If you arrive in the evening or at night I highly recommend to be accompanied by a taxi or uber. Old hotel, modern but slow elevator, narrow and steep stairs (impossible to do even with a hand luggage). small room, with a useless closet almost bigger bathroom. Noise and creaks characteristic of wood, but annoying during sleep. You can hear footsteps in the rooms above. In essence, it would need a general restructuring and modernization. Friendly staff and fast wifi.
The greeting was very friendly!
The location of the hotel was okay!
There are definitely better locations.
The room was large and clean.
Fortunately, we didn't have a rental car at this point.
As the parking fees in hotels in SF are very high.
Hotel in good location, very welcoming and clean, staff is available for advice. Good breakfast.
Cheerful and welcoming staff excellent location to visit every neighborhood of s.francisco
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Vertigo. Our room was quiet, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Self parking lot was a block away.
Beautiful hotel with very respectful and knowledgeable staff. Without a doubt the best hotel in its class. Wouldn't attempt to stay anywhere else.
oh my goodness where do I even start? Everything is so amazing here :D it s our first trip to San Francisco, and our stay was PHENOMENAL! Everyone is so nice and happy! Thank you for the little gifts too!! My family and I are so grateful for everything that this lovely place has done. :) Everyone should stay here haha!! Thank you again :D
Small and dark room with a view of a wall but hotel well located.
Good welcome and good advice
The room we received was the purest darkroom. Totally dark and no daylight with a view of a house roof. Due to my complaint we got another room which was not really better. Dark and uncomfortable. No fridge, no hot water. Positive to mention is the location but that was it.
Overall a positive experience! Decent location, the hotel is clean, the rooms are clean and spacious. Stayed here a few days for a work trip.
Beds and pillows are comfortable, bathroom and shower are spacious. Had some issues where the bathroom outlets didn t work (safety would pop anytime you plugged something in), but there were other outlets nearby that worked without issue.
Cool side note: this hotel was used during the filming of Hitchcock s Vertigo movie, given this bit of info the vintage feel gives it a really cool presence.
It is a magnificent place that is welcoming and well organized
Amazing decor & a nice vintage vibe. Neighborhood is a well positioned for hitting up bars but close to TL so there's a few unsavory characters in the neighborhood. Something to be wary of but not a big deal.
Nice clean room, decent service. A shame the fitness center is under renovation. Location is great, walking distance from shops and restaurants.
Nice privately owned boutique hotel, spaceous bedrooms with walk in closet, freshly renovated, stylish rooms, free WiFi, 10 minute walk to Union Square. What else to expect?
Nicely remodeled rooms, poor wifi (for me) dodgy neighborhood.
It's an older hotel kept in good condition. It's in a great Central location and parking is right around the corner.
Great room.. Very comfortable. Staff was great and friendly.. Location is great.
Very beautiful the hotel the lady who is in the pizo 5 very kind and grab your work very well I love going back to the hotel
Super staff / incredible volumes / large rooms / very confortables bed
Great hotel in Nice location. Bed was like a concrete slab though.
Overated hotel.... no breakfast noisy room...bahhh!
I enjoyed the place it was clean and they have nice staff members. If I ever come back to San Francisco again I would always go to this Hotel.
Good location. No in-house food service. Nice rooms. Very good service from staff. Gluten free breakfast at the bakery up the street. Corner store/grocery and restaurants also up the street. If you're a real walker, you may enjoy this location. It's not far from China Town. We even walked home each night from Fisherman's Wharf (25-30 mins). There is nothing but nice clean neighborhoods in between. For the price, we would consider staying there again.
The neighborhood is not the best. Decent hotel with a decent cleanliness.
Nice and unique hotel. The Hitchcock inspired theme is interesting and gives the hotel character. It is nicely located and the staff are exceptionally friendly. My one minus (and it is a big on for me) is that the wifi is absolutely atrocious. It was very difficult to work from my room and I eventually gave up and went to a coffee shop.
Good value for the money. Quirky, what you'd expect for the price. Starting to fray a little at the edges.
Friendly service, very fun classic decorations. The bed was huge and super comfortable. Well lit and near enough to Polk Street to walk.
Very cool place. Love the Hitchcock history. Check out the stairs, great for pictures.
Service was great! Staff was very friendly and attentive. The room itself was quaint but modern I enjoyed it and everything felt clean.
Nice modern hotel which is relatively close to Union Square. Staff were really friendly and helpful and facilities good too,
Great service, the check in and out process was done quickly and efficiently. The place was kept clean and organized. The location is great as it is in walking distance of chinatown and japantown. Will definitely book this hotel when I visit the city again.
Room is nice. Window opens and also a ceiling fan. Big shower. They do not have their own parking garage or valet. You must go to a parking structure down the street. Big downside, the lot doesn't open till 6am, so if you have an early morning flight you are in trouble.
This different photos, in the photo seems new but it is all old.
It is a nice, comfortable, clean hotel.
The staff is very nice and with an exquisite treatment
It is located in a good place, close to everything
I was delighted, if I return to San Francisco I would return to this hotel.
Kisses for all the staff.
Aircon would be good but otherwise great small hotel
Clean room, good price if you just want a place to stay for the night. My room had a queenbed, bunk bed, fridge, microwave, tv, internet, and a private bath. We got are room for 105.00 including tax.
For the money it is a good place. Manager was super friendly and helpfull.
The wife and I are big Hitchcock fans, so of course we had to stay here when we came in town. Clean, reasonable price, our bathroom needed some updating and we could hear a bachelorette party all weekend. It s the only reason it didn t get five stars. Worth going
Good location, price and staff. Be wary of heading a few blocks south as there are a couple of rough neighbourhoods. The hotel neighbourhood is nice and safe.
If you go to this hotel you have to indicate that you want to have the room cleaned, I arrived tired to the room and nothing was done, dirty towels, unmade bed (a disaster). However the hotel was not too bad.
We stayed at the Vertigo for 3 nights. Were very well looked after by the very friendly staff. The rooms are spacious, clean and cozy. The view of the courtyard was not that great, but it didn't bother us. Very good location. 5 minutes walk to the cable cars. We didn't have a rental car, we reached everything by bus, cable car or Uber. Good breakfast cafes right on the next block. Typical diner (Loris) about a 10 minute walk away.
Excellent structure, central, clean, welcoming and helpful staff. The rooms are large, so are the toilets. Logistically well located near the heart of the Union Square city. Excellent value for money. Lost a backpack 2 times, 2 times made to find in the room by the staff with everything inside.
both room we rented where greet specialu the restrooms one had a walk in closet the other was the pent house
Some of these reviews smack of elitism. I stayed here back in 2005 for 5 days with a friend. Yeah, after 11pm you can hear the downstairs club from your room. Yeah, it's not luxurious. My view sucked. The artwork isn't authentic. But for under $200 a night near the Flatiron district and 2 blocks from a subway stop on the N line, it's a pretty damn good deal, and dare I say, a fun experience for 20-somethings. The shower worked great, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were quaint but well-equipped - more than I bargained for. Although I don't stay in many hotels these days, this was by far my best CA hotel experience in this price range. Parroting what someone else on here said, in CA, there is so much to do, what do you need a hotel room for other than to sleep anyway?
Very nice hotel, good location, very welcoming staff. Beds not big (queen) but comfortable.
The hotel manager Sam is really cool, super informative and very friendly. Id definitely stay here again as its in a cool location, central to a lot that SF has to offer.
Typical major city hotel in US. A lot of effort made on the foyer but the hotel was a bit dated. Room was a good size, no a.c. but had a ceiling fan. wall heater looked a bit worse for wear but we didn't need to use it. bed was very comfortable and the tv channel had a decent selection of channels for waking up at odd hours due to her lag. easy stroll into union square so location was fine. staff were friendly and helpful.
Not that expensive for SF, and great location. Gym included and good wifi.
Very nice hotel, ideally located, smiling home.
Just a regret that the queen size room is really small. It is certainly a nice room, but with 2 luggage on the floor, you can not move.
Nice location and good value for price. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Rooms themselves were ok.
Overall my two day stay was good. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. To nitpick a little though...
1. When I first arrived and stepped out of my Uber there was an overwhelming smell of urine (maybe that is just standard in SF though)
2. The toilet was very high off the ground so it wasn t very comfortable.
3. My A/C wasn t working very well. I like my room at 65, but it was probably closer to 70 or 75 (even though I had the unit set to 61).
I gave the front desk a list if these items and a few other minor things when I checked out. He was very apologetic and comped part of my stay.
Check in and check out was seamless. Front desk staff was helpful when needed. Room was neat, bed was extremely comfortable. Only downfall is the loud noise in the morning.
The rooms are small but kept well, great location, friendly staff
Very good location, not far from Union Square, in the immediate vicinity are two very good breakfast places, which are not so expensive. We were quite satisfied with the room, the only drawback is that you hear almost everything from the next room, but we had earplugs and heard as good as nothing.
Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms. What more can you ask for? Well in addition you get character, robes - really when was the last time you had robes in your room? The executive rooms have a desk and are plenty roomy for two people to work. There are restaurants and stores on the street as well so its super convenient.
Overall building managed, clean and in the most served by San Francisco. They did not close the restaurant service but you have whatever you need. The rooms are quite large and the bed very comfortable, I also loved the bathroom with a shower spaziosa..peccato only the view of the room that looked out on the fire escape on the wall of fronte..ma structure is a detail ..
The staff is very nice and the property is in a great location for exploring the city moving on foot.
Good hotel with a fairly reasonable price for the place it is (very close to Union Square). Recently remodeled, with large beds and very friendly staff.
The reception staff are very friendly. There are a couple of people who speak Spanish.
In the rooms there is a "coffee maker" but it is already known that coffee in the USA is quite bad in general.
It is well connected by public transport or you can walk to the center.
The photos are "the views" from the door.
A nice hotel, in the middle of San Francisco, very very friendly lady at the front desk, just great.
Nice hotel overall. Old building so rooms are a bit musty. Bathroom is clean, rooms clean and updated. Staff friendly. Bath moldy smelling although no signs of mold? Hotel is a good place to stay. No coffee or food services but there are some great hole- in-the-wall restaurants and good coffee shops less then a block away. But....the neighborhood is run down. Homeless sleeping everywhere. Streets smell of urine. Gross. Not the hotels issue. More a city of S.F. issue. S.F. needs desperately to clean up the city.
Very common hotel ... basic services ... It is not for the 2 dollars but it is on principle ... a proper hotel does not act like this ... I find 2 small bottles of mineral water in the room so I provide to make them fresh by putting them in fridge (they should have been in there already, anyway ...), the next morning I find 2 more bottles on the cabinet ... I don't give weight to the thing ... I consume 1 of those in the fridge and at checkout I point out to have consumed only 1 single bottle and ask the bill ... do not they release anything, say they refer to the travel agency ... (I paid for everything, including taxes in Italy before traveling)
then I will be charged for 2 bottles on my credit card. Mah ... strange that I have not been made a separate bill for my consumption ... usually in America I am very careful about these things.
Was it Hitchcock ??? ;)
