We had a particularly pleasant stay.
The magnificent Hotel / Palazzo is located a stone's throw from the Vaporetto San Stae stop, in the middle of Venice's foodie district.
The staff were very helpful to us. We got a room with a grand canal view and enjoyed the bedding, the decor, the marble bathroom.
Breakfast has always been served with kindness. We really recommend! A very nice address ...

If anybody is trying to find good deals for hotels visit RoomBuIIy. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere!

What a wonderful hotel. Pleasant, professional and immaculately presented staff. The location is second to none, just far enough away from the chaos that is Venice but close enough for an easy walk to everything important or use the water bus on the Grand Canal from the stop just beside the hotel. Room was amazing, thank you!

Top hotel! Great location for visiting the city, all done on foot without vaporetti. Only 2 little ones in: the maid who cleans the room while we are at breakfast and nn finishing in time continues the cleaning while we are in the room to take the last things before going out for the day; last day already made the checkout we ask for 2 coffees before going out (it was very cold), 6 we never paid them even in Piazza San Marco!

Excellent hotel, rooms with classic furnishings in keeping with the 1700s building from which the hotel is housed. Young and courteous staff, abundant international breakfast, also wanting the private dock on the Grand Canal to take a taxi

This hotel is beautiful and conveniently located with great views. Our room in particular overlooked the courtyard which was well manicured and pictures. Where our experience fell short was with the service we received from the front desk and bar staff. The were inattentive and short with us most of the time. The breakfast staff, however was absolutely delightful.

The location is excellent since it is 10 meters from the center and above all has the vaporetto stop attached. Friendly helpful and professional staff. Rooms small and in need of repair, our rooms had noisy air conditioning and the bathroom was really old. Disappointment also for breakfast .... a small banquet.

Good surprise
Well located hotel 30 seconds from the vaporetto stop
Quality welcome. We had room 210, large and cozy. Toilet in the bathroom ... decent breakfast (nothing crazy but the essentials are there)

We visited in late May of 2013 and it MADE our trip to Venice special. The room on the Grand Canal was beautiful with both modern accents and ancient ceiling beams painted in the 1500's. Seeing the traffic coming and going on the canal each day was a highlight of the trip. All day long the small and larger boats plied their trades below and that gives you the essence of Venice. Can't speak for other rooms that did not have the view, but if you are going to Venice, it is highly recommended as a place to stay. The desk was courteous, helpful and efficient. The room details were immaculate and the breakfast was fitting of a top hotel. All in all, I would go back. Also, note that the vaperetto (water bus) stop is directly next door so if you are carrying baggage, the walk is about 100 feet to the hotel and there is a 'pier' for the smaller water taxi's if you arrive that way. Being off the main tourist route, it is very quite for a place almost in the middle of Venice. Enjoy.

We are not very satisfied. Cleaning is mediocre, the spaces are not as highlighted in the photograph. The bathtub has a sunken part. In the room there is a lamp to illuminate two paintings, falling, to be rearranged. In the room the welcome pack has produced adult s from months before. The bed is comfortable and the staff are nice, but they are not enough to make up for the shortcomings for a 4 star hotel. I hope they can have more attention because the structure is valuable and it would be worth it.

Excellent location, right next to water bus station San Stae. Wonderful and classic atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff. It is located off the main tourist drag, making for a very relaxed and intimate stay.

Check-in was smooth and quick. Pleasantly surprised with an upgrade; my room is large, clean, comfortable with a tub that is extra large. Desk staff are consistently friendly and helpful. Breakfast is full, not continental, and includes both hot and cold choices. Breakfast staff are meticulous in keeping selections full and fresh. Location is adjacent to a vaporetto stop, yet quiet and safe. Highly recommend.

Our room was small and overcrowded. The TV was on the desk, making the desk unusable; my husband had to take his computer into the common area to work. The bathroom was gorgeous, but no hot water for a bath. Breakfast was mediocre, and staff did not keep food or drink items filled. Our introduction to the front desk began with a smirk about our travel agency. They then reminded us that if 'we were to consume any of the snacks provided in the room, we would be charged; they were not free.' The only good thing about this hotel is its location--close to a Vaperetto, and restaurants.

One night stay. Good central location and a few meters from the vaporetto stop. The Palazzo is beautiful. Very small standard room. As soon as we arrived we noticed the dirty bathroom floor. Before leaving the palace, we tried drinking a coke and a tonic. Both bottles had expired and there was nothing else. The staff are friendly, helpful and professional (we received a discount for not cleaning the bathroom) but from a 4-star S we expect much more.

We were put into an "attic room" with no view at the hotel palazzo Giovanelli when we booked the "superior room." I spoke to the hotel attendant after we got to our room and he explained that the "superior room" we were supposed to receive was based on square footage and that the room we got was the same square footage. I showed him our confirmation number and how it showed we booked the "superior room" but he said that it was technically a superior room.

The carpet has stains and the free slippers showed a lot of wear.

It had low ceilings due to it being an attic so I bumped my head once on one of the beams.

The breakfast service utensils were dirty at times and had leftover food on them; forks with food and a cup with someone's lipstick.

The attendant said he was going to look to let us know if there was another room available the next day but there was a going to be an additional fee. He did call but we decided to stay because we were frustrated with the hotel and did not want to pay more.

Service from the staff was not 4 star. In fact there was time when they made it seem like we were an inconvenience to them. The location was ideal and in close walking proximity to the San Marco and Rialto Bridge and market. The WiFi here was awful and made it very difficult to use my phone when there. Breakfast was great along with the breakfast staff. And the rooms were also great. If the service would have been better and the wifi would have worked at all, this would be a higher rating. And room service stops at 8 I believe, not ideal for those who like to have a late night snack here and there.

This hotel is nice. Their queen bed is two singles pushed together and you can definitely feel the gap in the middle, which was uncomfortable and a downfall. Otherwise, clean and there's a decent amount of space.

Staff was very friendly and assistive with restaurant recommendations and making sure our stay was comfortable. Rooms were nothing exquisite, but more than comfortable with great amenities. Close enough to the Rialta bridge and San Marco to walk and enjoy the city, but far enough away to stay very quiet at night.. even being on the main canal. Would definitely recommend this hotel to visitors of Venice!

Absolutely beautiful hotel in a fantastic location right on the Grand Canal and with its own boat pier in front. 8-10 minute walk to the Rialto but away from the tourist crowds as well. Our upgrade to the President Suite didn t hurt either! Can t wait to return one day.

We stayed in the Junior Suite for 2 nights passing through on our honeymoon. We loved the decor of our room, and it was a great size, Beautiful bathroom with a tub and separate shower. The room offered little amenities, but we felt the view from all 4 windows (that opened wide) of the Grand Canal was enough. The hotel was very quiet - I don't think I saw maybe more than 2 other guests. The bar is small but nice. Breakfast wasn't great, but the coffee was! It is located near taxi docks and a 4-5 minute walk will bring you to plenty of shops and food.

We stayed here one night while in Venice and it was lovely. The hotel is upscale with the modern charms. It is easy to access the water bus from the hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights during a European trip to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Loved everything about this boutique hotel. The view of the canal was amazing and the amenities are first rate at this hotel. LOVED IT. Highly recommend staying here as a couple.

Palazzo Giovanelli was booked by my travel agent as part of a pre-cruise stay in Venice. We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived to the entrance right on the Grand Canal. The accommodations were European small but elegant and comfortable. The staff was great and we would definitely stay there again. Cheers.

Beautiful hotel! We had a superior room overlooking the grand canal, and it is just beautiful. The staff is very friendly and were able to suggest places to eat, and all some English. The breakfast in the morning is also really good, they have pastries, cereal, eggs, ham, etc., and of course coffee. FYI, we're from the US, so the room seemed small at first but the whole city is that way. It was still incredibly comfortable, and I doubt you will find larger anywhere else in Venice.

I do not recommend staying here. The building is beautiful and in a nice location, but it is not well maintained. Half the lights in the main entryway were out. The outlet and trash bin in the bathroom were both broken and there were stains on the walls. Most notably, the rooms stink. It smells like a perfume factory came here to die. The rooms are doused in the most disgusting perfumes. Even after leaving the windows open for over 24 hours, the repulsive smell remained. The mold growing in the bathroom was really quite disgusting as well. The management seems to cut corners wherever possible. The internet is slow. The breakfast was so disappointing that we didn t even bother eating it on our second and final day. The first day, the eggs were cold and the coffee was so bad I didn t drink it. Even little things like the blanket on the bed and the hangers were the cheap kind that you expect to find in a shady motel. The service was pretty bad. Most hotels leave you complimentary water; not this one. They won t even give you a map of the city unless you ask. And you guessed it; it s a terrible map with no street names, so it s pretty useless when you get lost. Sadly they can t even follow their own protocol. They leave a note in the room saying to hang up your towels if you don t want them replaced, but even with the do not disturb sign on the door and the towels on the rack, they come in and replace all the linens. This hotel is definitely not worth all the trouble.
