Hotel has a nice water view and rooms are clean & have blackout shades! Ambiance in the main building is beautiful with great art pieces and furniture throughout. We had to give ourselves a tour, otherwise we would have missed it.

This hotel is a mixed bag. The restaurant and bar right on the water was excellent. The decor is fun. The front desk clerk that helped us was great. The rooms are just ok. The exterior of the buildings look nice from a distance until you get close and you can tell they "paint over the dirt" alot. The elevators are also very narrow and small.

Stayed here because we were doing the Jetski2Catalina Adventure and they recommended this hotel. Side note, you gotta do the jetski trip....
Hotel was clean and great location. Food was good, but pricey. We plan to do the jetski trip every year, and this will be our go to spot to stay. So convenient.

The service is prompt and courteous. The food is amazing and exotic. The theme of the hotel is outstandingly unique and memorable. It is literally a one of a kind experience that I highly recommend.

I'm very disappointed with The Hotel Maya. First, they have so many beautiful views and beautiful things but nothing is comfortable. The beds are extremely firm and I couldn't get comfortable in it. My back has hurt all day, and I'm afraid to lay back in that bed tonight. They have cute yellow patio chairs that are hard and metal, and lean back too far to be comfortable.

The bathrooms are not appropriate for children. They have sliding doors that don't close all the way, you can see anyone in there while they are going, and you can hear everything throughout the room. We're here with the family and no one has privacy while they are going and everything can be heard.

I was originally drawn to this hotel because the website makes it look like you can get everything you need there. Therefore, not needing to travel too much during the pandemic. However, the hotel restaurant and bar were closed, so we had to travel everywhere for our food. Also, they charged full price for our stay.

Additionally, upon check-in I tried to ask the gentleman, who was checking me in, a simple question about parking but he couldn't be bothered and actually took a phone call and ignored me until I had to so someone else. Hello!!! You just charged my credit for this place, I think you could answer my question about parking.

Also, the JetSki rentals are closed on Tuesdays and a Wednesdays, which are the days of our stay.

Overall so very disappointed, tired, and my back hurts very bad. I won't consider this hotel again.

During a trip to Southern California recently, my fiance and I stayed at the Hotel Maya in a waterfront room with a balcony for three nights. Overall, it was fantastic. It was definitely worth the extra cost to get a waterfront room with balcony, because the views were beautiful. The bed was wonderful, and the decor in the rooms was awesome. We loved that it's unconventional and not the same as every other hotel. The bathroom was a bit small, however, and the air conditioner was old and a bit noisy, although it did work perfectly. The service from the front desk was excellent during check in and any time we spoke to them. Definitely would stay there again!

(continued from review written by Dominique McNeil...

(continued from review written by Dominique McNeil on July 21 2020) She advised us to call back if they gave us any trouble but assured us that they would more than likely try to be helpful. I called the front desk and politely asked to be switched to a clean room, only to be greeted by hostility and rudeness for no reason. I was told We re too busy. If you want to switch rooms you need to be here by 4 or there is nothing we can do. This was repeated to me with the same attitude even after I explained that we had a full day planned and could not wait at the hotel from 7am (when we called) all the way to 4pm without missing our reservations for the day. When I asked to speak with a manager I was told that the woman(Deshay) that I was talking to was the front desk manager. I informed her that I had spoken to corporate about the stay and they assured me that hotel staff would be able to help, she refused entirely and stated You can call them back if you want, that s your right but as I stated we are too busy after which she proceeded to hang up on me. I then reached out to corporate again, I spoke with Travis who was very understanding but offered no other solution besides giving me the option to check our early and check in to another Hilton property. Now you would think that this would not be at an additional cost after the hell of an experience we had just gone through, but alas his attempt to rectify the situation was by telling us we could only stay at a hotel comparable to ours (which there were none, every other property was a lower rating and 30 mins from the water vs the waterfront 4 star hotel we had booked) and that we would have to pay the cost for the remainder of our stay while he attempted to request a refund for our current hotel. We would then be charged additional deposits and parking for the new property in hopes that our money from the current stay MIGHT be refunded. Once I informed him that this solution was completely unacceptable especially due to the hazardous conditions of the hotel during a pandemic he proceeded to tell me that he agreed but could do nothing further to escalate the situation besides putting in a request for a refund. This was on July 17; I have heard nothing from Hilton since. When I checked out on the 19th I fully expected to be asked about my stay by the check out staff, I was not. This entire hotel experience has been awful and I would have never expected this from a hotel associated with Hilton. I ve been a client with Hilton for over 15 years and have never experienced this type of uncleanliness from them or any other hotel. Honestly you would probably be better off checking into a super 8 before checking into the Hotel Maya. We will NEVER return here and REFUSE to stay at another Hilton property if this is not resolved soon. We will also be in contact with the health department, BBB, and any other department that handles safety and unsanitary conditions during this pandemic.

PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE, YOU RE HEALTH IS MORE IMPORTANT!
Also, if you re looking for a clean, beautiful, and perfectly located hotel in SoCal, please check out the Solamar in San Diego. They have amazing customer service and the virtuoso room is stunning. They also have valet parking as well as street parking. Their price is also under what you will pay at Hotel Maya but staying there you could never tell; without the Solamar hotel this trip would have been completely ruined by Hilton.

Amazing place to stay, great views, excellent food, beautiful bars, and very nice staff. The hotel is located across the bay away from all the hustle and bustle but in walking distance to the Queen Mary and other attractions. The rooms had were very nice with beautiful balcony views. They will defiantly be seeing me again!

Over priced, nothing special, customer service is not good, they charge$27 for parking per night, my wife forgot a dress there, and we called the next day and they said yes we will hold it for a month. We went the week after and nobody knew what I was talking about they said they had no dress and that nothing was found in that room.

If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would without a doubt. Please be advised that from my personal experience this hotel is disgustingly unsanitary & unfit to be open in its current condition during the covid-19 pandemic. Below is my complete experience.

Before arriving we scheduled a late check in as we would not be arriving in long beach until late that night; we were told that this was fine as long as we arrived before 12am because of auditors looking at check in times. We arrived around 10:30 pm, checked in, and headed to our room only to be greeted by a large pile of feces on the middle of the steps leading to our room. This feces continued to stay there for hours even after we informed staff that it was there. Once we arrived at our room we noticed a Hilton Clean Sticker on our door that was already ripped from someone entering the room. Upon entering we could see that the room had not been cleaned. The bathroom was atrocious, used tissue was left on the counter by the new soaps they had set out, along with a sticky residue that glazed the glass counter they were placed on. The shower/tub had a clump of hair in it by the drain and strands along the sides of the shower. There was a used towel thrown on the suitcase stand, the nightstands were extremely sticky and so nasty we didn t even want to set anything on it; the room smelled of cigarette smoke even though the entire hotel is non smoking. The toilet was broken, every time it was flushed it would make an extremely loud ringing noise and flush over 4 times continuously. Of all of this, the most disgusting part of the room was the floor. It was entirely covered in a layer of grit and dirt; this floor was so dirty it literally turned our newly bought white socks black every day and we were only in the hotel long enough to get dressed or undressed and go to sleep. Outside of the room was no better, besides the large pile of feces on the steps, the entire water facing side of the hotel was nothing like the pictures shown. The morning after we checked in, it looked like a tornado had come through the pool and sitting area. Trash and cups were everywhere (ground, tables), used towels were piled up on lounge chairs and by the pool, the giant chess pieces where thrown everywhere, nowhere near the actual chess board, and the smell was horrific. The hotel staff was less than helpful, every time we requested a clean room (multiple times) we were met with some type of backlash. The first time they refused to hold a clean room for us, even though we made it known that we had previous reservations for our day and could not wait at the hotel until 4pm to claim the room; we were told that they could not accommodate this. After speaking to corporate over the phone they were able to confirm that this was not true and called the hotel to have another room reserved for us. Once we returned, we were given the room key for the room below us and we asked to check the room before moving our belongings. The second room was just as bad as the first, trash in the trash cans from a previous guest, toilet still broken (probably connected to the first one since it was the room directly below) no soaps or extra towels, and smell was just as bad as the first. We decided not to switch because the second room was also filthy and we had already wiped down our first room with cleaning supplies we had to buy (minus the disgusting floor). After waking up and realizing that we spent over $200 a night for this room ($180 a night plus $31 per day for parking (standard, not guaranteed or valet parking) and a $200 deposit for incidentals) we again tried to reach out to corporate; the woman on the phone was nice and tried to reach out to the hotel but they refused to answer her call. She told us to try to call since we were away from the hotel and see about getting another room change since we still had a remaining 3 days of our stay. (continued under Lexy Nykole)

It is very nice facilities and location. The pool is great and the views are so nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Had food in the space twice once for lunch and the second time for breakfast. The chorizo chilaquiles were WAY better than the tinga torta I had for lunch. I also think the theme is unnecessary and a nuisance. You can still be a very nice hotel without the cultural appropriation, its 2019, let's do better.
