Tested the restaurant for lunch on the GR30.
Very good, plentiful.

A successful romantic weekend!
Very good address when our happy doggie companion accompanies us.
The room was perfect. And a small terrace for doggie to take the air.

The waiter (or the manager to read other recent reviews complaining?) Should refrain from nasty comments and judging their customers. Yes we can have a "beautiful evening" without alcohol or extra on the menu ... It is more complicated on the other hand without friendliness!

Excellent memory of a visit in February ... I will return as soon as possible ...

Extra weekend with Box, 2nd round
It still happens too frequently that with 1 Box (for this weekend we tried St Nectaire but refused) we are not always satisfied, except with the formula offered by the Cantou de Orcival everything is perfect. We had already tested and it is with pleasure that we came back.
Simple reservation without problem even with a Box.

Room a little spartan but sufficient for 1 night, especially refurbished and very clean. Very calm night, even with the basilica nearby, you really have to strain your ears to hear it! And no noise in the hotel.
Formula 1/2 board extra, charming inn which offers very, very well cooked and good local products. Hearty and delicious menu. Warm, attentive, perfect service.
In short to test, for us we came back and not disappointed

Very good hostel, clean and comfortable interior in a timeless exterior setting that takes us out of our daily grind.
The meals are good and plentiful.
The breakfast meets modern requirements with a wide choice of local products.
Room 3 has a pleasant terrace :) (it's just too cold for the southerner that I am :))

Correct room, nice staff at the hotel, comfortable bed, because of room 16 very limited shower pressure, my hair is complicated to rinse properly.
The restaurant, simple traditional cuisine, very good, but then a really unfriendly server, almost bitter !!! Who repeats things like a robot ... too bad for a restaurant that looks warm from the outside.

The room was small, and the bathroom tiny (if the sliding door was not open you could not move). The cushions that decorated the bed were dirty (white marks and dirt). It was missing a real table (or a place to put at least the bags). The wifi connection did not work (according to the reception we were not the only ones without wifi).
Good points: the staff and the restaurant, where we ate well.

Small, very comfortable hotel in the heart of an emblematic village of Auvergne, a remarkable restaurant serving succulent specialties (truffle to die for, among others). To strongly advise!

We were very well received by the hotelier couple at the Hotel Roche. Very nice, simple medium sized room, recently refurbished. Bathroom, bedding, sheets: everything was impeccable.
We feel the great involvement of these 2 managers so that the customer is received as well as possible.
In the morning, we were pleasantly surprised by the different melodies of the basilica bells. It sounded like "belfry" music like in the ch'tis film ...
Hearty, delicious, varied breakfast with ample time.

We would have just appreciated that the fire in the huge fireplace called "cantou" was rekindled.

On 31/08/2019, Arrived at 3, at 12.45 after 2 refusals (too late!), We were very well received at Cantou. Despite a crowded room and terrace, the service was quite fast, the food delicious: Auvergnates specialties, of course! The attentions and the kindness of the gentlemen in the service are natural and very appreciable. Children are taken into account.
Meal rates: very correct.
I recommend ++ this hostel that knows how to receive and treat its customers, with respect and professionalism.

Very good reception of restaurateurs with little care To advise

We made our box "romantic getaway" in this hotel and we were very well received by friendly people, a new room with good bedding and a good and well presented meal.
We are very satisfied.

The rooms are modern and very well maintained. The staff is available and welcoming. My only comment concerns the sound insulation of the room. I point out that the basilica of the village located right in front of it chimes from 8h to 22h, which can limit nap and fat morning.

Very good place with typical dishes of the region. Server at your disposal and very helpful, I recommend.

Efficient service. We took salads from the "salad + dessert" menu and they were plentiful, followed by an Auvergne "apple turnover" accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream and honey. Truly delicious.

After waiting 10 minutes in the rain because it was not 19h battery, unhelpful staff do not take us seriously because we are a young couple. Tables too tight to each other. We had an unpleasant meal with other guests squinting on each fork we were taking. We were so oppressed that we wanted to leave. To finish the food was not exceptional. Unrepented cooking and 2 people arrived after us served before!

Warm, attentive welcome. The waiters are very available and attentive. The dishes are good. Good homemade ice cream and a little extra from the chef with verbena! I recommend the place! Well done the team.

A very nice surprise that this halt of two nights. In the beautiful village of Orcival and facing its magnificent basilica, we particularly appreciated the comfort and quality of the room, the authenticity of the products and the cuisine, and especially the kindness and professionalism of the staff.

A great place to eat 30 minutes from Clermont-Ferrand.
Typical food from the Auvergne region! Cold cuts and cheese. The food and quality are second to none for a fair price.
The menu is perfectly constructed, there are not 36,000 choices and we wanted to taste everything. We inevitably come back!
It might just be a soul missing to achieve perfection. But does perfection really exist?

Kitchen level was fine, nothing transcendent, especially for the price, but overall correct.

By cons level of service, it was mediocre even hostile. We had to deal with 2 servers, one who does not seem convenient but does at least the minimum required by his work (takes the order, brings the dishes), and another downright unpleasant who makes you understand that he must hurry because it is already 8:30 p.m. and he certainly wants to go home as soon as possible, is exasperated with each dish chosen we do not know why, limit yells at the little old people who ask him for information ...

The icing on the cake: they 'forgot' the cheese on the menu and when it is pointed out no apology nothing, just annoyance towards US for having pointed out the oblivion !! To read the other comments this is not an isolated case ... it is therefore unacceptable.

When you are not able to run a restaurant without needing to rip people off and be unfriendly, you find something else!

Nothing to say about the meal except that at 12:30 there was no more hamburger on the children's menu at 9 , and the entrecote taken was 18 . Otherwise even if we like the humor, that of the waiter was disrespectful, even incorrect. A total lack of landmarks, for a table next door, blah passing people. There were 7 of us and no passing, accustomed to the cantou we will no longer pass at all.
