Good hotel in a convenient location to all of the tourist attractions. The bathrooms were nice and the bed was comfortable. The staff were really welcoming. The rooms could have done with a hoover, lots of dust along the skirting boards and under the bed. Very peaceful despite the central location. Good value for money.

Very nice hotel and amenities. Staff quite helpful. Hotel Espana is situated in La Ramblas which is a popular spot for tourists. So expect it to be busy and surrounded by businesses that charge accordingly. The rooms are fairly quite though and would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Excellent location with immaculate rooms. Staff were friendly and attentive. Only downside was the roof pool was closed which was disappointing as this was one of of the reasons the hotel was selected.

Great place, Stunning Hotel Modern but still captures it's old past. Staff friendly and very helpful, Roof top Pool and bar is great. Rooms clean and comfy. Only negative is Food and Drink very over priced compared to everywhere else.

We were very happy with the clean hotel.

We were very happy with the clean hotel.
However, since there are no toothbrushes or shave, it may be better to be aware that it is different from Japanese hotels.

Just back from a 4 night stay at this beautiful hotel. Ideal location for a city trip in Barcelona. Friendly staff, no trouble too much. Beautiful interior with a combination of old and new elements. Very nice rooms. Only a room with blinded glass in the courtyard (Boutique room). Breakfast very well cared for and full. Great adjacent restaurant (Fonda Espana). Very refined and tasty, but main course was insufficient.

The location right on the Ramblas not far from the Boqueria is unbeatable. Also, the rooms facing the courtyards are surprisingly quiet for a hotel in this location (many clubs are around the corner - ideal when it gets late). The beds are super comfortable, the bathrooms are big enough and equipped with rituals toiletries. Only a bit worn were the shower and some corners, there are minus points for a missing toilet brush. The breakfast is very rich by Spanish standards and there are also Catalan specialties such as "pa am tomaquet", as well as international classics. But beware: breakfast was NOT included in the price (so check in advance)! The team is extremely accommodating and speaks good English. The second time there and would always go back.

Excellent hotel with a fantastic character. The place is clean and very close to La Rambla. The rooms may bit a bit constricted but it's quite standard in comparison to most of Europe. The staff are quite helpful and friendly. They also have awesome murals and carvings on most of their walls, which I found fantastic. The cost may be on the pricier side.

Espana Hotel is great and deserves 4 stars for sure
The reception and staff are very very friendly and helpful and most importantly they are always cheerful and serve you

The hotel is close to the Rambla, just 100 meters away
Near the hotel there are grocery stores, restaurants and a pull-out machine

The disadvantage of the hotel is that the rooms are very cramped
As well as the presence of ants in the room
The toilet water is strange, with a sticky substance, as if it were soap

Very good experience, very nice hotel, I rooms, well placed in the city, and also very good breakfast although the buffet on the side bread and pastries lacks a bit of diversity but nothing else to say!

Tom at reception was very helpful, good recommendations from him. Room was nice and clean, Arnau Bar quiet and good value. Hotel situated very close to La Rambla and Liceu Metro station, which was ideal for NYE celebrations. Very nice stay, will definitely be back.

Bathroom floods when reported said it was a persistent problem. Reported twice no concern shown. Once shower used one needed Wellington to use the WC. Unacceptable. Be aware you may get a room with only a small window which required electric light in use 24/7.
Room was dusty in places. Breakfast staff poor disinterested in clients especially Anna.
No table service even to give a pot of tea nobody informed us of hot breakfast offerings which we advertised on a single A4 page placed in a corner. Lovely old hotel in good location needs proper attentive caring staff and a bit of money spent. Roof top bar not as online photos show disappointing even down not advertising a music evening. The reception area fragmented and what looked like a lovely bar in the lobby area this was closed. On the whole would not book there again.

Very nice hotel. Good location. Near the Mercado. Don t eat on La Rambla. Go to either Luzia(restaurant ) nearby or Palais Real for choices. Be Careful of Pickpockets in area. Your friend is NOT your friend!!!

Amazing old hotel with mod cons. Very grand lobby and lounge area. The location is excellent and off the main rambla. So it's quieter than one might expect. Service is good. There are less costly hotels nearby but you won't be disappointed with this one.

Place is comfortable and rooms are a tad quirky ( in a good way) our window balcony looks out over the centre of the inteor of the hotel and through the glass roof of the dining room..

YOU LET ME DOWN TOM!

YOU LET ME DOWN TOM!

All of the wonderful comments left by other travellers about this hotel are very deserving in my opinion except for the entirety of staff courtesy. Very disappointing that one staff member can taint an otherwise fantastic stay. A staff member named Tom will forever leave an unpleasant memory from our stay at this hotel, if you stay here my advice is to ignore him and converse with other staff who are very honest, polite and helpful. Quite ironic that a few moments before writing this review that I read another review on trip advisor from 2 weeks ago that complained about the same staff member for different reasons. I don't think I would stay here on my next trip through Barcelona regardless of how great this hotel is in cleanliness, location and presentation. Pains me to only give this hotel a 4 star review.

Lovely hotel. Everything perfect. Near everything.
Only one problem. When checking in very
Bossy and sharp lady served me called Maite. I only asked her a question and she overpowering and I had to walk away.
I would still come there again as I loved the hotel.

Set in an 1859 building, this posh hotel features Catalonian Modernism design and is a 3-minute walk from both Liceu train station and the Liceu's Grand Theater.
The stylish, minimalist rooms with earth-tone colors feature free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus room service and minibars. Upgraded rooms add amenities such as Nepresso coffee machines and terraces, and suites include whirlpool tubs and separate lounge areas. There's also an apartment-style suite with several rooms and a 23 sq m terrace.
The hotel has a regional restaurant with a swank, high-ceilinged dining room. There's also a rooftop pool and a hip a terrace bar with modern art.

Room 412. Friendly and welcoming staff. 2 single beds in the room. The rooftop bar was nice but expense for a beer ( 8) there is a shop around the corner that has pints for 1 and there is a fridge in the room if your looking at saving.

The entire stay our floor was covered in small rocks and sand and didn't seem to be vacuumed in our 4 days there. The toilet smelled of urine.

This hotel takes us to the period of Catalan modernism at its best.

With a restoration carried out by the architect Puig i Cadafalch, the hotel has many common rooms with a special charm. It is important to mention the main dining room, the reception, the living room (with its spectacular fireplace), or the breakfast room (known as the fish tank).

I have not been staying at the hotel, so I have not rated it for its services but for the architecture that accompanies it.
