For a hotel of this stature, they do not provide umbrellas, jug kettle in the room or a mini bar fridge. Breakfast was just average. Considering how many Asian tourist that are there and that there is a Thai restaurant in the hotel, you'd think that they would make an effort to include some Asian cuisine in the breakfast menu.

The room is beautiful. The view looks out at the intersection, changing the clothes and the neighbors see it all. Breakfast is also normal. Little dishes. But in the center, it should be fine in general.
We recently stayed at this Astoria Hotel for two days in October 2018 and we have to agree with the other reviews - very noisy on the weekends. The bar/club on the 7th floor makes it even worse. The bathrooms were upgraded in the last few years but the work seems more of an afterthought - Not the modern look illustrated by the lobby when you first walk into this Hotel. The sink was tiny, chipped and the countertops hang over into the bathtub (very strange). This would explain why the hotel didn't upgrade to a shower stall as well (very cheap and distasteful). Unfortunately for an upgraded bathroom, we found mold all over and in between the drop ceiling. We also found a great deal of mold/water marks on the lower walls underneath the sink. After showing the first night, we didn't bother to shower again in the room. As other reviews have noted, and we're glad we paid attention; DON'T LET THE HOTEL CHARGE ANYTHING TO YOUR ROOM OR YOU'LL BE SORRY. The breakfast is about average along with the watered-down coffee. The pastry, bread and scrambled egg selections were very good. If you're traveling for business and you need a quiet and clean place to stay, you may want to seek other accommodations.
Very comfortable and clean. Very near to the train station which makes it very convenient. Clean and awesome service... if you get a room with view to the hallway make sure you are dressed as anyone can see you inside. If you are an exhibitionist then it s your paradise as the couple across my room. Wink wink
Way too loud! The basses of the Top-Roof Disco on the 7th floor can be heard on the 4th floor until 4 a.m. But if you go to the disco as a hotel guest at 10:30 p.m. and you have not reserved a seat, by buying a bottle for at least 135 ChF, you will be tamed by the "club manager". Vacant, non-reserved places are given to younger, over-the-top women, from whom we have been driven out. Otherwise service is good, but I never go there again.
The bouncers were rude, one of the bouncers, he looked Spanish, kicked me for asking to get in. The Hotel lost business, for employing racist idiots like that bouncer.
Centrally located with nice rooms, fast wifi and excellent air conditioning (hard to find in Switzerland). Nice conference rooms and beautiful terrace.
It depends very much on which room one takes. The rooms in the adjoining house are a bit like prison cells;) nevertheless, everything is very clean and tidy. The breakfast is good. The Wi-Fi is very slow. The conference rooms are very good.
This review is coming from a design/architecture student. I have been touring europe and have stayed at countless hotels along my travels, nice hotels and lower end hotels. This hotel is poorly designed and constructed- the worst I have stayed along the way. The acoustics are absolutely terrible. If you want to hear every room on your floor (no exaggeration) while you're trying to relax in your hotel room, stay here. If you're looking for a normal hotel experience, stay anywhere else. You can hear literally every sound that occurs in the rooms next to you, above from you, and across from you. Aside from horrid sound pollution, the beds are as hard as a rock. The designers of this hotel (Herzog de meuron) and the interior designer (who knows) definitely have to learn from this mistake. Will *never* book here again.
