Convenient setting, clean and reasonable prices. Went to get coffee on the first Sunday of the month and the whole place was taken over by a church service so that was a bit annoying when I wanted a coffee. Lots of outlets for electronics if you're looking for a place to study

I tried their iced coffee, hot coffee, and latte - each was flavorful, high-quality, and delicious. My husband got the Mexican Mocha and absolutely loved the warm spices and sweet chocolate. It was also a great place to hang out and work or meet with friends; loved the vibe!

I make an effort to avoid chains when possible. The friendly service by Dave & Abigail is dramatically better than the cold indifference received at most chains. The coffee is excellent & the breakfast burrito was very good. I will have to come back to try the quiche & the lunch sandwiches.

Normally I would give Homers a 4-5 Star rating BUT not today!
Since the Covide Shelter-at-Home event started I would stop by Homers for my Latte treat while I walked my puppy.
The staff was Great and understanding of my situation .. not being able to leave my puppy outside so I would give them my order and they d bring it to me as I paid. The Staff was so pleasant and accommodating.
So now that we re almost back to normal (Hah!) I went in today and was immediately told I couldn t come in with my dog. I said I understood but just wanted to give them my order and step back outside to wait and pay. The young woman insisted I leave my dog outside then stand in line at the counter. I explained I couldn t leave my pup outside alone and had no one with me to watch him.
Again she repeated what I Had to do in order to get my Latte. I was barely inside the front door .. trying to communicate my request and she s raising her voice to me across the room while several people at tables are watching/listening to all this. With frustration, I raised my voice to tell this woman, Forget it !
I guess all was okay when there were fewer customers .. but not today.
Since we moved into the Apartment across the street, over a year ago, I ve been a regular customer at Homers. And everyone there has always been super. I wanted to support the small businesses that I ve frequented before and during this virus situation... Homers was one of these.

Whether this means anything to Homers owner and staff ...
Today I was Extremely Disappointed!!!

Great coffee, great environment to socialize or have a table to yourself and read the paper. I have been going here for almost 2 years and have never had one issue. They know the regulars by name and will treat you like family. Prices are competitive and they have great breakfast items. Best coffeehouse in overland park, hands down, high five, they make you feel like you just want to dump your wallet in their tip jar.

Whoever was making coffees yesterday around 3:30/4pm was bad. I ordered the 20 oz iced vanilla latte, my family got their drinks, mine was a hot drink, i told her it was supposed to be an iced vanilla latte she made several other peoples orders, then replaced mine in a small, i said this is supposed to be a 20 oz, then she made others coffee again then replaced mine.....i almost asked for my money back and got down the road only to discover there was no vanilla in it. We spent so much time waiting for the multiple order redu it was nuts, thought it would be quick in and out! This was my first time there, bad experience, won t go back!

We cycled to see the downtown OP murals and needed a place to warm up and refuel with some calories.

While sitting there we discussed how Homer's Coffee House would be a great spot for a 1st (or 1000th) date; nice lighting with open space. I had the best cinnamon roll I've eaten, in two decades. The mocha latte was perfect. Definitely is on my downtown OP must stop list.

There are only so many more tomorrows, enjoy!

I got room temperature hot chocolate...it was disappointing.
So here's the thing I was already having a bad day in an already bad year. I decided to stop here to get a hot chocolate because I love hot chocolate and I thought it would lift my spirits. I watched them make it and it looked hot, I took it and left to make my way back home. I was only down the street when I took a drink and it was a luke warm drink. It was a disappointing drink for an already disappointing day.

It is a nice coffee shop. They have lots of coffee options - including different bean for pour over and healthy portions of dessert. I had a cup of latte and cinnamon coffee cake to share with my sister. The staff were friendly and the space was quite big and quite. So there were lot of people reading or working on their computers on Saturday afternoon.

Great tea beverages. Not as much loud gong banging sounds behind the counter as they used to have. So glad they offer Gluten free treats! And looking forward to the recipes getting fine tuned...texture is difficult to master.

Parking was a nightmare. The grilled cheese was not cooked the cheese didnt melt at all. The gluten free quiche flavor was okay but totally soggy, there wasnt even a point to having the crust. My daughter loved her banana smoothie and my husband's frozen latte was taste but my caramel latte with soy milk tasted like they used burnt almost milk instead and didnt taste like caramel at all. I would have thrown the quiche and the latte away but we paid like $30 for this. Rediculous

Great place to relax on a Friday or Saturday night. The espresso coffees are really good! The band we heard was OUTSTANDING! Also, the environment is family friendly. Homer's is a great time everytime!

This is the only place I've found to be well-rounded in each review area: they have great decor-- if you don't like it, come back in a week-- it'll be different; good food-- they'll serve it in a tea press on request; they know how to make drinks. Their teas are great as well-- they also offer tea presses. Their parking area is adequate as well, though you can't judge a place based on that which they cannot change. Some people suggest they get couches-- those people don't get that this isn't an Amsterdam-style cafe. This is an American study/work style-cafe. They claim to be a Christian organization, but being open on Sundays (including the mornings) truly negates that claim.

the staff is very friendly, and the quiche is delicious! every flavor we've tried has been our new favorite. good smoothies, too. and imo, their mexican mocha is the best espresso drink in the neighborhood. honestly, I cant say enough good things about this place :)

I'm from Omaha and work at a specialty bakery/coffee shop, but my boss used to live in OP and HIGHLY recommended Homer's. Have been by twice in 2 days and plan to swing by for another coffee for the road. The staff is incredibly kind. Quick, quality, & friendly service. The coffee has been incredibly amazing. I've had the Thai Breve both times but with an alternate milk instead of half & half. It adds just enough sweetness to the coffee without detracting from the smooth espresso. From reviews - planning on trying the Mexican Mocha before I go.

***Make sure to leave reviews for your good experiences - not just your bad ones! And if you are having a bad day - remember the people serving you are going through this pandemic too. Actively support small businesses so they are here for you when things "return to normal."***

Really thoughtful staff, the friendliest people in town, and some amazing desserts can be found here; I haven't been in during live music but have visited a few times to study and hope to keep coming back.

I liked the coffee, and the atmosphere was fine. Nothing extremely fancy, perty basic, but felt clean and welcoming. No upselling or offers of special whatnots. I spent under 8 dollars for the drink, including tip. This afforded me a reasonably comfortable chair to sit in for my two hour stay. The addition of a power outlet adjacent to the table was unexpected and appreciated. Air conditioning was on point, not overly cool. All in all, a nice quiet place to have coffee and watch a movie while you wait for the next whatever. Thanks coffee bro in Phish shirt, you make a tasty latte. Stay classy you hippy mofo!!!

I dont remember what i had but it did not taste that great. My brother had a mexican chocolate mocha? I believe and that was really good. When ordering, ask the Baristas which beverages are the most popular, that way you will get probably the best beverages!

great experience, staff, especially that guy wearing a red bandana. Heard him talking to an inquiry on the phone. very helpful, and informative. sounded like a band inquiry.
we stop at Homers everytime we come to K.C.

I went in to this place looking for a quick coffee to go. The staff for the opening shift we're super cool and took care of me perfectly. I told them what I like and they suggested I get a Mexican latte, which I'm finding was made deliciously. I hear they have chicken noodle soup too, so I'll be back to try that out.

Cool spot, good people, and they were bumping some hoppin' bebop when I was there, so if that's the norm, then I'll dine in and chill for a bit next time.
