My 90 year old father was admitted to Hollywood Presbyterian after he fell. We found out that he had a subdural hematoma (blood clot in the brain). Neurosurgeon Dr. Joung H. Lee operated on him. Dr. Lee calmly explained and guided us through this stressful time and my father had a amazing outcome. I am so grateful for the compassion and care Dr. Lee gave us. He gave us his cell number and told us to call whenever we had concerns and he answered every time we did. The doctors and the nurses at Hollywood Presbyterian were so caring and supported during my father's 3 week stay. They offered him excellent Korean food and even gave him a cheeseburger and macaroni and cheese when he craved them. After 3 weeks we felt like the doctors, nurses, physical therapists and staff were like family. Dr. Lee called us even after discharged to see how my father was doing. My father turned 91 at the hospital and I feel the doctors and the nurses gave us a priceless gift to spend more time with our father. Thank you Hollywood Presbyterian and a special thanks to Dr. Joung H. Lee.

I was treated brilliantly and with respect by everyone from the lady in reception through to the doctor. Everyone was so kind, professional and positive. The hospital is spotlessly clean, and my waiting time was minimal. The wonderful supervisor of ultrasound is once of the most lovely people I think I have ever met!

I wasn't able to take deep full breaths for a few ...

I wasn't able to take deep full breaths for a few hours. Went to the ER at Dignity Health in downtown and not only did they make me wait for hours in the freezing cold, but they didn't help me breathe better in any way and even said I seem "fine!". They then sent me home after about 7 hours with a mild inhaler that didn't help at all. Next day it got worse and I decided to go to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital instead and I'm so glad I did! I barely had to wait for 15 mins, they got me a room and a doctor came to see me almost immediately. They saw the seriousness of my situation and immediately gave me an Epi shot, 3 tablets and a nebulizer mask to open up my airways. I felt better in a couple hours! They sent me home with 2 pills and I've been taking them the past couple days and I'm breathing almost perfectly! Going to a good hospital makes a world of difference! Not being able to breathe properly gave me a slight glimpse into what I imagine having Covid would be like and it is the WORST to be hungry for air and feel like you just didnt get in enough air into your lungs. Really glad I'm not suffering from that anymore thanks to Hollywood Presbyterian!! Thank you to the nurses and to Dr. Mahmoud E.

I work there as a security guard and I can honestly say that this is one of the most dangerous hospitals that I ve ever been to and the sad part is that it s not the patients( people being seen) but the nurses and doctors. I worked at the tent area and my job is to check people in and they let a girl with severe head trauma sit outside all day without being seen they basically refused medical services to her without saying it. Another time I was nearly attacked by the chief of the hospital. Which I m somehow being investigated for when I was just doing my job

If I could give 0 stars I most definitely would. The medical "professionals" have zero training. I went in to get steri-strips and every instructional specifically says NOT to apply any ointments and the doctor insisted it was necessary leading me to have to have steri-strips re applied 3 times and have the wound cleaned again in order to get the ointment off so the strips would stick. If they don't know something as simple as applying those then I definitely wouldn't trust them with any sort of life or death situation.

Absolutely the worst hospital in Los Angeles, nurs...

Absolutely the worst hospital in Los Angeles, nurses, cnas and even doctors are complete garbage. Staff is uneducated and do not know how to perform simple tasks that are a must in the medical field. Patients are being abused in every way possible. Nurses don t even come in to check on patients and even if they do, nothing is being done at all. A cna named Godfrey Uche was being aggressive and abusive towards my grandfather by throwing him around the bed and simply yelling in front him even though my grandfather needed peace after his heart attack. Nobody cares about the patients and nobody does anything to save lives, instead they just let patients suffer and die. This hospital s conditions and cleanliness are absolute disaster, they simply do not exist. Department of Health needs to close this place down or change every staff member, because people are truly being mistreated here. This hospital just focuses on sucking out every penny they can from your insurance instead of actually providing help. This hospital needs to be closed down!!! DO NOT EVER COME THERE TO GET ANY SORT OF HELP!!!

Please shut this hospital down. The city needs to step in and close this hospital. I feel completely unsafe and uncared for, facilities are horrendous, staff is absent or nonexistent, there is one Dr in the entire hospital! I m in fear for my health at this hospital. I was admitted 2 days ago and still haven t spoken to the doctor. The nurses can t be found, the hospital floor looks like the first episode of the walking dead. Honestly I would put my trust in a clinic in Somalia over this place.

Absolutely the worst! Doctor came in the room after I complained that it was taking too long to attend my mother and said the blood results looked good... The problem, I explained to him, was that they hadn't even taken blood from her. He left again promising to sort it out. Another hour gone, this is really sad. This is where incompetence comes to work!

I would rate this place a ZERO if I could. These nurses were very abusive and neglegant. And the staffers as well as the doctors rarely came in to see you. The last time I was there,, i was in COMA and then when I finally woke up,, they didn't even tell me why I was in the hospital to begin with. Till this day,, I don't remember why I ended up in the hospital. No one had the common decency to comfort me and tell me why I was in the hospital fighting for my life. My mom was the only one who told me that my heart stopped twice and they had to "bring me back to life".. These people nearly killed me. On top of everything the nurses ignore you're every request. And when you ask them a question it's like you're talking to a brick wall. And they drugged my water as well as crippling me from the waste down,, now I need a stinking wheel chair. DON'T GO TO THIS HOSPITAL,, EVER!!!!!

My brother has been here in two different occasions. Each time he was in the emergency room they really made sure they looked at all angles before running to a conclusion. He was admitted because they could not determine his problem. It ended up being confirmed through a stress test that his 3 main arteries were blocked. They did a surgery and put Stents. He recently came in because he wasnt feeling well. I love how they dont assume. Dr Edwin Lee was his surgeon and he explained everything in detail. We are now well informed of his condition and what we need to do. We also met another doctor who wrote a book about a diet to maintain a healthy heart. Unless you are in our situation you are not going to appreciate their knowledge. I am extremely grateful. May God bless this hospital and for what they need to improve May God help them. We have been here a few times and have experienced good service and care. Thank you and God bless you.

On November 16th 2017, I headed over to this Hospital, I was already in pain and bleeding a lot from a miscarriage I was having, I told security that I needed a wheel chair and needed to be seen asap, she had me fill out a form of course a sign in form and said to have a seat and they would call me, after almost 10mins of waiting and still in pain and bleeding, I left and went to another hospital.....I would rate them with a zero, they will take their sweet time and seemed not to care...I know 10mins wasn't a long time, but how much longer were they going to have me wait? Those 10mins at that moment seemed eternal for me!!! So as I said I left this place, went to a DIFFERENT hospital and right away they took care of me, they checked me in gave me wheel chair and put me in a bed....This place sucks!!! Want to add that it's also very dirty

This hospital lacks competency in ways I did not know could be possible. We were only able to contact them via phone due to COVID-19. We were understanding of that; however, being place on hold or transferred to different numbers is a whole other story. My father was under your care and died there, so I don t know where else you expect us to go to get information/documents being that you should be more than capable enough to provide us with this since it happened under your roof.

Why was my father put in a medical induced coma?..Was he induced with or without consent?...Why has it been over two months to sign about his cause of death?

Experiencing the death of a loved one is hard on any family, but it has been made worst for us. I don t know how you can not expect an angry family when you failed us. Even after his passing, this facility still managed to treat him with such negligence.

I hate this hospital EMERGENCY ROOM. My mom had colonoscopy in that hospital. I took her home after the procedure and after 2 hours she was having 106.6 fever , seizure and very bad abdominal pain. We called her primary doctor and she told as go back to the same hospital as soon as possible because they have your medical records. My mom was having seizure non stop while I was driving.
We went Emergency Room I explained the situation and asked help but they did not care. I kept asking help from them but stupid nurse and security were ignoring us saying we have to wait until they help all patients from waiting room. I drove all the way down to Glendale CA and asked help from Memorial Hospital. They helped us right away and admitted her.Thank you very very much to Memorial Hospital Emergency Room nurses. They saved my mom s life. God bless all of them IF YOU DO NOT FEEL GOOD NEVER EVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. That was my first and last experience with them. I wish I could give you 0 not 1 THE WORST HOSPITAL!!!!!!!!

If i could rate this hospital a zero star, I would've! On the 24th of october, 2017, I went to the hospital in an ambulance, because i have cellulites and edema in my legs, and these people didnt treat me. The doctor on call was Dr. Marco Hernandez and he only saw me once for 2 minutes and left my bedside. The nurses were even worse, i was screaming out for help and no one showed up to help me. The worst thing is that i still have my infections and i cant walk anymore. The hospital is also unsanitary and ugh, the filth on the bed made me have a UTI infection. Im still in pain and distress. People stay away from this hospital. This place is the worst. And the nurses wouldnt wven give me my spunge bath so my infections would go away. Sad hospital. The doctor and nurses on call were the worst of the worst. I hate this hospital.

Medical help results -3-4 starts

I have an impressions ANY EMERGENCY is a money laundering or some scam places - they accept anyone, provide no treatment and can t give the specialists referral.

So it is the system fault.
They got to be able to authorize patients to see specialists if any health issues are present.
At least it wouldn t be a waste of money for the insurance and some real use of them

Honestly do not go if you are bleeding to death. If you are having a stroke or heart attack. They will make you wait a good 30 minutes before treating you if they are busy. I went there because a cyst on my eyelid burst and I was in a lot of pain. My hair was covered in blood. I just did not scream in agony because my daughter was there. They told me to go an opthamologist. Absolutely no treatment. They told me to go to one across the street. To a random opthamologist who would not see me without pcp referral. In the end I went home and cyst burst even more so I grabbed a tweezers to get all the gunk out. Am I proud of this no but they left me with much choice. There was a crater on my eyelid and left a scar. They at least prescribe erythromycin. If you feel like you dying drive elsewhere.

This is the most filthiest and unorganized hospital I was put in the dirtiest emergency room with a bunch of lame doctors that pretty much forgot about me and I needed several staples in my head and it took 3 long and tormenting hours waiting then when someone finally noticed me after starting the procedure and left outta the room and never came back until I had to get outta that filthy bed myself in so mush pain to continue trying to get someone's attention I was the very last patient in the whole emergency room and still no kinda real care or even concern by any of those pretend so called staff and horrible doctors that should all be ashamed of themselves I hated it all and I think they should shut that filthy place down immediatly!!!

I went to get a holter monitor put on for 24 hours and I started to break out in a rash a couple of hours later. After closer inspection of the monitor, I noticed that it was extremely nasty and caked with dirt and gunk. The cords that were attached to me were also disgusting. During a time like COVID why would they not sanitize these items or better yet give out brand new cords to each person? This is unacceptable and I will be reporting this.

I am still on chemotherapy since June.
I had pneumonia with high fever in August 2020. I went ER this hospital and they diagnosed quickly and hospitalized me as soon as they found and cleaned my bed. I hospitalized 8 days and fully recovered. One thing I had bad experience with one CNA nurse. She's just horrible not fitted with medical field.
But I had a good memory with angelic nurse too.
I don't understand why everyone is giving bad review of this hospital.
They gave me attentive care enough.
Of course I didn't get 100 percent satisfaction. But they treated me full recovery. That is most important thing.
Don't be misleading to miss the most important point.

The HR department here is very rude and unprofessional. I applied for a job here and it was impossible to reach them by phone (recruiter's inbox kept going to voicemail) or email when inquiring about my job application status. I invited to an open interview and they never confirmed a date or responded to my follow-up emails. It has been a very frustrating experience trying to get a job here. Their HR recruiters don't know how to do their jobs :/

I had some bad experiences with some nurses when I was going to give birth to my first baby, some of them had to call him several times and there was another one who was upset that I called him so much I did not see his name since the badge was wearing it backwards. And also with a supposed head of the place of delivery, a brunette is a certain Gladis, I have not forgotten her name ... she made me feel very bad and even made me cry, her treatment was terrible, people like her simply should not be there

Emergency service is good. But the service on 5th floor is horrible. The robotic greetings from nurses are like Hi, Hello, Good morning, Good Evening etc sound good but they are quite useless. Grateful to the wonderful team of women in labor and delivery at Hollywood Presbyterian.
Dr. Gandhi and Dr. Zograbyan really handled my situation as a high risk patient with the greatest care.
So much gratitude to you ladies for making me comfortable to reach my goal of having a natural vaginal delivery and the encouragement given and help with breast feeding my baby as she was taken to the NICU and than transferred to CHLA.
If you are a mother with a spina bifida child. This team with Dr. Chmait will handle and care for your babies needs safely with the most love and care. Again we couldn t be happier. Thank you!

I brought my mother in for a procedure. Very poor communication. From the pre-op to post op I was given inaccurate information. All nurses are Asians so When u ask them a question. They don t give you straight answers. They just talk amongst each other in their native language which is very rude as you cannot understand them. For a minute I felt like if I was in a nail salon. I Will never recommend and will never bring my mother here again. They have lost our business. So sad!!

Wish I could give 0 stars. I just went to ER and waited over almost 5 hrs. To not even be called for triage. A batch of people that were there waiting were already gone.I ask what had happened and how much longer until I would be called in. The answer was oh let me ask "they will call you" another batch of people came in way after I was there and they were called in before me and triaged. And some even left being done. I ask again. And security says ask nurse why. Like what kind of answer was that?! People don't go there because they are ok. I had an emergency. Why I went with good faith and to trust that I would be in good hands being Presbyterian hospital. What a shame. It's worse than county hospital. I'll never recommend this place to anyone who's health can be in jeopardy. My life is important. Not a number . We are paying patients. And not cheap. Not a ethical place at all.

I was transported to this hospital on Saturday after my accident and I felt like I did not receive the care that I needed. They only gave me a CT scan and a prescription for ibuprofen. But the pain from my accident was much worse. They did not treat a patient like they would coming from a car accident with a neck brace on. A push out patient with medication is not the treatment that I wanted or deserved.

Horrible. I was very very sick when taken to Hollywood Presbyterian emergency room by ambulance. I was between consciousness and unconsciousness when we arrived. This place decides to have their business people bring a book of paperwork for me to sign at the ER bed before they would do anything to help me. The ambulance had all my insurance information. The first person we encountered at the hospital took the insurance information from the ambulance. But still they felt the need to bring a book of paperwork for me to sign, on multiple pages, in multiple places. I couldnt read what they put in front of me. I couldn t even keep my eyes open. But this didn t stop them from putting the paper under my hand and saying sign, now initial... now sign... I have no idea what they had me sign. I only vaguely remember all this but am extremely upset about what they did! If you cannot stay conscious YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE THEM PUT PAPERS UNDER YOUR HAND AND BE TOLD TO SIGN! COMPLETELY UNETHICAL!

Edited to fit within text limits of Google review....

Edited to fit within text limits of Google review.

This is a genuine review, and I have not been paid to write this.

All too often we find ourselves quick to write bad reviews, as these are the easy ones to write because we are motivated by anger, and we just want to be heard when we feel we were ignored.

Less often we take the time to write a good review because we have nothing to complain about - the experience was as expected to be, so we continue on with our life without the courtesy of leaving a good review.

I am guilty of both situations. It is definitely easier to write either about a horrible experience, or an exceptional experience.

The writing of this review is motivated by an exceptional experience over a 6-day hospital stay.

First and foremost, it is my very strong opinion that the ratings and reviews of Hollywood Presbyterian unjustly tarnish the reputation of this facility and the staff that work there.

It is in my experience, that the staff, ranging from the security people to the surgeons.

Every single one of them provided exceptional care, and/or demonstrated genuine compassion. In the absence of either, there was at least common courtesy and respect.

The staff that we experienced definitely does not deserve to be lumped into the negative reviews you may read about, as the staff mentioned in this review are truly wonderful people.

This review is not to say that the people with negative reviews are wrong, but more so that not enough good reviews are being reported to provide an accurate rating.

Like you, I initially read the reviews of Hollywood Presbyterian, and was put off by what I read.

The night security guard at the ER door on Friday, August 23, 2019 was the very first person we encountered as my girlfriend was being wheeled in by the paramedics. The security guard welcomed us and said something to the effect of I hope you feel better soon ..

We encountered many staff members that were very caring, compassionate, respectful, and attentive to needs. Even though they had many other patients to assist, we never felt neglected.

During physical therapy, when my girlfriend was first able to walk again around the entire floor, she received encouragement from the nurses as she passed by them.

On this Labor Day, I would like to recognize the following staff, and sincerely thank them for their service towards getting my girlfriend healthy again. I wish I could do more for each of them, other than send thanks and words of appreciation.

The staff does such a wonderful job, and if you consider that for some of them, the job of caring for others doesn t stop at work, but continues at home - this makes them exceptional for being able to constantly care for people.

My apologies if I list their titles incorrectly.

Additionally, I found the hospital very clean and very well kept with convenient accommodations like the cafeteria, the vending machines not only for food and drinks, but also flowers and gifts, and the Infused water dispenser in the hospital lobby area.

Based off of my personal experience, I highly recommend this facility for hospitalization care. God forbid, but if we had to go to the hospital again, we would go to Hollywood Presbyterian.

Our deepest appreciation and thanks. All the best to you!

Tax exempt cathedral to the wealth of this absurd American health system. Extremely absurd emergency room wait with rude employees and zero concern for the people they claim to serve. Only people benefiting here is the church and it s owners.

Never ever go to this Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. No urgent care or regular visit, everything is EMERGENCY CARE, later with high medical cost bills. It is a rip off Medical Center in town.

I do not know why they speak badly of the hospital, I went and they have treated me well, trained personnel give good treatment and if we have to wait that is up to the private doctors, it is expected, let's not say in a hospital that there are thousands of people

My father fell and was admitted to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center for emergency brain surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain. The care he received was unbelievably favorable beyond our expectations. The nursing staff was excellent. Who was amazing was the neurosurgeon, JOUNG H. LEE, M.D. I have never had a doctor give me his cell phone number to call at any time, and actually answer when I did. Dr. Lee did not talk down to us with unfamiliar medical terminology. He spoke to us in plain English in a manner that we could all understand which was very comforting during a very stressful time. Not only did my father have a great outcome, the care he received from Dr. Lee was beyond my family's expectation. My father spent a total of three weeks at Hollywood Presbyterian. Although it's never fun to be in a hospital, the staff and Dr. Lee made it a very favorable experience for my father and our family who visited him daily. Thank you Dr. Lee and Hollywood Presbyterian.

I went to the emergency room with severe leg pain ...

I went to the emergency room with severe leg pain on January 9th, 2021 (Saturday) at 1:00 PM. One old security man helped me to fill up the form. He was nice and informed me to wait outside under a tent (Because of the Covid). Only few patients are there. I guess there were about 10 patients. However, I got the call almost after 3 hours around 4:00PM. Two nurses (One male and one female) were very nice and they took my details and blood pressure. Then they tell me to wait again outside of the hospital to see a doctor. Almost after one hour about 5:00 PM Ms. Nicole (PA) came. She checked me for about 2/3 minutes. However, she informed me to wait again to have an x-ray. About 5:20PM two guys came to take me to the X-ray room. They took my X-ray and tell me to wait again for the doctor. These two persons were very nice too. Finally, Ms. Nicole gave me the prescription about 5:45PM with the report. I do appreciate expertise, professionalism and good behavior of Ms. Nicole. Everyone in this hospital were nice. I was happy with their treatment even it took very long time. However, one lady security made me very upset. Actually, I became very hungry (about 5:15PM) and wanted to ask a nurse how long it would take. So, I tried to go to the ER Doctor's office which is outside of the main building too. But, a lady security told me that you can not come to this place. So, I returned to my chair and was waiting again. After 2 minutes that lady security came to me and was telling me, "if you go to that doctor's office door again then I will kick you out from this hospital."
I was having leg pain, I was waiting for so long, I became very hungry, I just tried to ask a nurse something and then I came back to my chair once the security told me to back. I was not doing anything wrong. I wonder why that security came to me again and told me such words.
Just for one or two bad person, hard working of all others goes in vain. A patient can not accept such words while visiting ER of a hospital. And I am thinking if I become so ugly that I can deserve such a behave from a security. So, instead of 5 stars, this basket gets only 4 stars from me due to one bad apple.

I have issues with both the medical care I receive...

I have issues with both the medical care I received at this hospital and the administration's utter lack of ethics, and more than anything, it's complete lack of respect for its neighbors.

Let's not even talk about how this already giant hospital is trying to buy the land up around it, forcing residents out who have lived in the area for ages. I want to discuss how Hollywood Pres, a place that's supposed to make people better, is literally making those who live around it sick.

As if the steady stream of ambulances on our street throughout the night weren't enough, we're now woken up at the crack of dawn by construction of the hospital's new parking structure. I work from home, as I'm sure others do as well, and it's become impossible for me to concentrate because of the noise. It's also ironic that the hospital would be erecting a garage since it has a lot with plenty of parking that none of its employees ever use. No, they park on our street -- a street with a limited amount of parking to begin with -- occupying spaces we desperately need. Can't this hospital take care of its employees? Making matters worse, the hospital has now blocked off TONS of previously open parking spots for the construction workers. I've called the hospital to express how hard it's been for those living on the street, but the hospital failed to heed my concerns and instead blocked off even more spots.

So all in all, the hospital is causing its neighbors mental health issues (anxiety at never finding parking, anxiety and depression about being kicked out of our apartments and homes, and rage) and insomnia and stress (constant noise and construction in the wee hours, inability to work). Isn't it comforting to know how much this hospital cares about people's health?

I can't conclude this review without at least mentioning what horrible care I received at this hospital. I was vomiting intensely and nonstop, couldn't even stand up. A doctor saw me after 2 hours even though I arrived in an ambulance, gave me an IV, and even though I was still puking and feeling like fainting, released me without a wheelchair or checking to see whether I had a ride. I should mention that I have good insurance so that wasn't the issue. I ended up having to go to an urgent care doctor the next day who said that I was so sick I should have never been discharged. Plus this hospital is nasty from the inside -- I was seriously scared of getting staph.

Worst hospital ever. Nurses in recovery room after labor are so spiteful and rude. They have no hospitality. During my presence there these korean nurses were non-sympathetic towards a mothers pain and always made faces after a polite request or has been asked more than twice because of the fact that i was ignored. They dont even apologize for making me wait for something so little. (We have no access to stuff we need like gauzes medicine etc. ) Not to mention my boyfriends korean relative had picked me up and he even said that these nurses were talking negative about me after having a conversation with two korean nurses there in korean language. Take it from me you do not want to go here unless you dont care how your treated.

Delivered my baby here on August 2018. I must say, I was doubtful of this hospital due to the high amount of negative comments. But honestly, my experience here was pretty great. My boyfriend was given a bed to sleep in while I stayed there for 2 nights. The food was okay, but that didn't matter. They treated us really nice & took care of us & my baby. I guess the only thing I didn't like was that they said we'd be discharged at 11 am but ended up leaving at 4 pm

This is the worst hospital I ve ever had to endure. They absolutely do not care about the patients wellbeing. Without saying much, they wanted to perform a procedure on my mother on morphine only! The staff was nowhere to be seen and they could care less. And not to mention we never saw the specialist they claimed was suppose to come see my mother. This place is disgusting! Absolutely filthy and unsanitary. We decided to leave this place and go somewhere else. Don t go to this hospital if you want good quality service.

Just stay away from this Hospital. I was sandwhiched in a car accident and left in the waiting room. They said that I didn't need a x-ray "cause it costs too much money" I couldn't move my arm, neck and could barely walk. When I finally called my insurance I finally got an X-ray and MRI a month later to show that one of my discs of my spine is out. They denied my an x-ray and didn't bother to find out injuries that was caused by the accident. They just kept me at a waiting room. They didn't even bring my pass the ER doors. Now, I'm talking about having surgery on my spine. Oh yeah. I also got a bill despite I gave them my medical insurance information. Can you just shut down if you are not going to do your jobs?
