So my girlfriend's family came into town, and we looked for a nice place to bring them. We had heard whispers around town about how good the German food is here, so we gave it a shot. This place is nestled smack dab in the middle of beautiful Downtown Sanford amongst plenty of street parking. We made reservations a couple weeks prior, like the website suggests, and we were thankful. The place was packed when we got there, packed when we left, and the line at the host's stand was always long. Popular place.

We get in and have a seat and look around at all of the German-inspired decor all around us. Our server is super nice and gets our drinks out very promptly. The menu is lengthy, and everything sounds absolutely delicious. It was hard to choose. The first thing they advertise is their sausage plates. Tons of combinations of sausages with tons of sides that they pile up.

However, we went with a couple of schnitzel options. My girlfriend got the Wiener Schnitzel (The Hollerbach Schnitzelhaus classic! With honey mustard dressing (chicken)). This was solid. I hadn't had chicken schnitzel before, but it was so good, like a nice chicken parm. The honey mustard dressing was just sweet enough to be the perfect balance to the fried chicken.

She got Potato Pancakes (Two potato Reibekuchen with onion, egg, and parsley - served hot off the griddle mit apple sauce) and Sweet Red Cabbage (Cooked with tart Granny Smith apples) as sides. The potato pancakes were crispy and potato-y and they held well together. The cabbage was ok. I don't really like cabbage, but I had a couple bites, so that says it was pretty good.

Overall, this was an awesome meal. The stuff wasn't greasy, the flavors were rich but not too heavy, the portions were just right, and the price was also right. Like, I loved this meal. I will be back.

Food was great. Pretty close to what you'd eat in germany. We dined in for a birthday celebration and it happened to be Krumpusnatch which is the celebration of naughty kids versus Santa and the nice kids.

Stopped in for lunch today. Had a couple of their delicious draft beers. One dunkelweis and one oktoberfest. Both absolutely fantastic. My companion had the kolsch which is actually their own brand and she highly recommended it as well. The schnitzel sandwich and potato pancakes are stellar.

Food, service and beverages are all top notch here and you won't be disappointed.

The food and atmosphere here is amazing. Truly an authentic experience. I highly recommend starting your meal with the pretzel. This is also a great place to enjoy german beer at a great price. There is always live music going that makes this place great. Busy times can be rough to find a table, but worth the wait.

Went out on a double date with the McBickers and we had a super delicious dinner, thanks for spoiling us! The food was yummy and the drinks were great! Between the main floor outdoor patio, the main floor dining rooms (2), the second floor dining area and the roof top patio there is room for everyone. While you are there check out their market and outfitters shop around the corner from the cafe. Hollerbach = must see.

Amazing food and atmosphere. Been craving German food for awhile now. Over an hour drive from my house and in the rain but totally worth it. Will definitely be going back. Will need a few more people to do the Das Boot next time. Check it out.

Visited this wonderful place for a birthday dinner. The atmosphere was fantastic. The food was simply delicious. I had the Eisbein. A very good and tender pork shank with sauerkraut and their awesome heaven and earth potatoes. The band was great! A return is in the very near future!

We drive about 40 minutes each way and it's worth it. The best German food I've had since working/living in Papenburg and a wonderful atmosphere to boot. Our server Rose was a delight and took excellent care of us. If you're looking for great German food, definitely drop by.

This is one of those places where I've never had a bad meal. The service is good, it's a fun atmosphere, and there's good value in the prices. I eat here too much, perhaps, but it's the place I take visitors to Sanford for good grub.

Huge restaurant with authentic German food and drink. I travel to Germany frequently and this place is the real deal. I hear it gets packed at night and they frequently have live german music. Around the corner there is also a german shop and market.

Delicious and authentic German food. Wait staff is a bit inconsistent in how attentive they are. Prices are medium range. Huge variety of beers, many of them seasonal. Inside entertainment is typical ethnic German music where the patrons vigorously join in the singing! Lots of outside seating, if you're looking for a quieter environment.
