Loved the Peanut Soup!!! And the history of George Washington, and his intelligence, is priceless!!
Mt. Vernon was beautiful. We had lunch and the Mt. Vernon Inn as well. If you go try the turkey pot pie it was fabulous.
This is one of the most beautiful places I've had the privilege of seeing in Virginia! The tour and everything was so amazing and view was great! I would bring others there!
Good interaction with staff! They really seem to enjoy their job.
An understated yet powerful view. One can see why our first president decided to live here.
This establishment has not only become lie a.second home but a.must see for all fame and friends who visit. If the News or events.of the day get you down~then a walk of the grounds is your best prescription for smiles and bringing life I to balance.
A wonderful mansion and property. Well maintained with excellent museums and information.
The view of the Potomac from the mansion is amazing
This is a must go. Collectively with the surrounding grounds, buildings, tour and presentations, all of it!
Beautiful to visit during the fall, gorgeous view of the Potomac River. Worth getting a membership!
Wonderful tour. Wish we could have spent more time there.
Well organized, friendly people. Lots of cool historical information.
Except for the staff members who seemed on edge and would snap at you and try to make you feel guilty, this place was beautiful and worthwhile.
Great historians lead tours and provide such amazing knowledge about Washington's life.
Wonderful way to spend a day..great docents and great interaction with the people!
It is a beautiful location, but doesn't have the same pizzaz that Longwood Gardens carries. The staff are well informed but not as welcoming as other Historical visits. Still a bit puzzled by the guard who informed me that I couldn't take photos in the slavery exhibition. There were no photos to corroborate his story.
Very busy during the summer..... in the winter months they open the third level of the home for viewing.
Great Historic well preserved House, Farm and Museum! Made the history very accessible to the entire family.
Beautiful place, always enjoyable, been here 3 times now. Unfortunately the staff comes off as rude at times, both my last time here and this time. Unfortunate. But beautiful place.
I simply loved the place. Learnt so much about George Washington' s life and why he is revered as a leader
Awesome place but they really rush you through the mansion tour. Each room seems to take under a minute.
This weekend was Horses and Hounds. Another great event and look into the past to see how George Washington lived. Visiting Mount Vernon never gets old. We always see or learn something new.
Very interesting historically. I particularly liked the fisheries and the farm. Very nice view of the Potomac!
One of my favorite stops on our recent trip to washington dc. You will love it too. A must see.
Very educational and fun. Great parking, friendly staff, tours are every 15 minutes. There is a lot of original items, including the key to the Bastille, gifted to President Washington from Lafayette. (Three other keys are still in France.). Food court.
There is a museum of it's own dedicated to enslaved workers.
The whole experience is fantastic. Not free. Adult was $18, veteran was $14.
Magic, an absolutely beautiful setting and a fascinating place to visit!
We spent an entire day in the mansion, outbuildings, and exhibits. Really brought the time of Washington to life. Highly recommend.
I have been on much better tours. Monticello, WWilson homes are a few. Felt like cattle just being herded thru the rooms. Since given a tour time I expected a tour guide that would lead thru the house explaining about the different rooms. Instead as you pass through a room you might get a snippet but most of the time you were requested to keep moving. Many of the guides were actually reuse. Rest of grounds you are on your own. So disappointed.
Would tell anyone to skip the house go straight to museum which is well done.
A good place to visit, the tour guides were fun in the way the gave the history of the home. A beautiful home and grounds, definately a place to add to your list of things to see.
Great restaurant and visitor center. Well maintained monument.
Excellent reception facility, super friendly staff and very helpful with all the explanations, too bad that the Washington house has little original but many reproductions
Overall great experience positive vote
Absolutely loved looking at it and they tell you as you walk by like that Lincoln and other presidents have walked on the stairs and touched the railing and it's cool cause now you have to
Such a beautiful place to visit. Open space, properly organized. Perfect for an afternoon of sightseeing.
Wow! What a great place! Make sure you allow at least half a day if not more on the grounds. So beautiful and interesting!
No need to book a tour bus or have a car to get there. You can take the Metro to a Huntington Station, then exit the lower level to catch the 101 Bus to Mt Vernon. It does make a number of stops, but not bad.
I like the revolutionary war a lot so this was quite interesting
Beautiful historic property. Plan to come early. Weekends and summer brings lots of visitors.
Cool place ...a part of history ...but man...depressing.
If you have a whole day to dedicate you should definitely go here. It is incredibly informative inside the home and on the slavery tour. It's a lot of walking. Everyone along your journey has a lot of information to share with you. And can answer any question you might have. The gift shop is also really cool if you have a chance to check that out.
Spent 3 hours seeing the place at a good clip with a stroller age child and an 8 year old. Grounds are beautiful one of the iconic vistas of the world.
Good place to learn about George Washington. They had very nice movie regarding to George Washington.
Beautiful site. We really enjoyed walking around and getting the tour of the mansion. There was some reconstruction on the outside going in but nothing that was too disruptive.
Wonderful experience with lots to see. It took around 3 hours for us to slowly explore all of the grounds, and then there is a Washington museum at the end (which we weren't expecting and ran out of time to explore properly). Free parking and a wonderful 'whole day' out
It's a beautiful place, you must go with at least 3 hours to spend.
Great learning experience with knowledgeable guides. There is a lot to do and if you take your time it can take the better part of the day.
Loved seeing this beautiful and historic spot this past summer. They were working on the facade, so there was scaffolding in the front of the building, but the inside tour was unaffected and the grounds and view were great!
The grounds are beautiful. New museum and education center is outstanding. The tour of the mansion could have been slower paced. We hardly had time to ask any questions.
Beautiful spot. Knowledge and friendly guides. Bring your walking shoes.
Beautiful educational visit. Walking the grounds and visiting home of our first President was a wonderful family experience. Made it a side trip while driving back from Williamsburg VA. Spent a few hours but wished we had a little more time. Perfect for families, couples, schools etc... Put this on your bucket list. To be able to visit the home and gravesite of our first President will stay with you. You will remember this place long after you have left. A great family destination. You won t regret visiting.
Such a beautiful attraction. Thankful for the women who have preserved it. Well done
It was amazing, they had lots of information. They had a blacksmith working. I highly recommend visiting at least once to see how life was at the founding of America.
I loved this place,.. So much history and good for the kids to see and learn about the history behind this man. I bought the corn flour,.. You should too
All I can say is "WOW". So much history in this place! The area is huge and there's so much to explore you need one day to see everything. The mansion was particularly amusing with great views of the Potomac. The tour was short and it was a bit cramped inside but we went during a busy time of the day.
Awesome American History in an accessible and tangible format. Very well run museum and grounds. It does get a bit crowded and the food court leaves one searching for better options, but overall it is a not miss place.
If not for the history, come for the trees and flowers and of course the potomac!
Love it here. Great events and no matter how many times we visit we learn something new.
Expensive, but a beautiful property to spend an afternoon. Fascinating American history. I'm surprised that it's not part of the NPS.
History, activities, and enough to make you wish to come back
Fantastic place. Really great for kids. Very educational and not too loud or busy. Definitely don t miss this. The kids can get a map that they fill with facts from around the property. They then get it stamped and are able to get a little trinket. This kept them busy and engaged. The tour is great. You get a lot of interesting information about this great and fantastic man.
Go to learn something new and enjoy the beautiful views!
Love learning about our first family and how they lived
This is the place to spend the 4th of July! This is a beautiful place rich with history and innovation. A much see for people of all ages.
Very cool place to visit for obvious reasons. Enjoyed the docents and all of the great invite info. Put this on your to do list for DC.
History and scenery combined. Loved everything about this place. Definitely coming back!
Well done. They have added a lot since I went there as a kid! Quite crowded, but worth it. Only thing we paid for in DC!
