Visited President Washington's home 4 days ago. The view off of the Patomic River was majestic, the people were friendly and the parking was accessible. It was interesting to see the renovation of the home over the years.

Okay okay. Look. This place was honestly probably my favorite out of everywhere I went in Washington. The tour was nice, if you had any questions, you could basically turn a corner and someone would be there for you to ask! George's house, it was just breathe taking to walk through for me cause I'm so in to history and I love Hamilton so aggh!! It was just amazing! The Potomac River behind it was beautiful and seeing it irl was amazing. The pictures are of the Potomac, standing on the hill behind George's house.

We really enjoyed our visit to Mt. Vernon. I didn't realize that although the farm part was closed for the year there are still many outside things to visit. We went in the rain and got soaked. :) This would be a place best enjoyed during good weather. It was very interesting, and the interpreters did a very good job during our tour. The large museum was also very well done and we learned a lot about Gearge Washington that we didn't know.

Fantastic history. Everything is well designed for touring and learning. Specifically enjoyed the house tour. As the guide pointed out, many items in the house, like the stair rail, are completely original; meaning you were touching the same wood railing as George Washington, maybe many other historical figures. Would not recommend the National Treasure movie tour though.

Never fails to impress... weather broke long enough to catch the beautiful gardens and to walk down to the tomb. Amazing gift shop and the museum is second to none with plenty to see for the kids.

It would be a lot more enjoyable if it weren't so crowded. We went around 3pm and it was packed. In order to keep things moving we felt rushed through the house. However, the rest of the grounds were more relaxed.

Wow. What an experience. To see where one if the greatest men in history lived is utterly amazing, and no words can explain the feelings you get after visiting. The tour is quite nice, explaining in person all of the details about the house, and the view from the back porch is something out of this world.

Went in not really sure what to expect. Left in awe. I didn't expect to enjoy my visit as much as I did. It was a lovely home and the tour was so informative and interesting. I really loved being able to explore the grounds and take in the scenery. The staff were all very good at their roles and really added to the overall experience.

The house is being repainted outside, so there was scaffolding all along back side. Lots of school groups, some very polite while others would walk in front of you or try to walk 5 wide down the sidewalk and not move over.
House tour was rushed though and docent took no questions. Disappointed

The staff are very helpful and pleasant to be around. As a living historian at Mount Vernon they treated us well. They seemed happy to have us at General George and Martha Washington's home. I look forward to this adventurous trip every year. Thank you. R.A. chuck Fegley.

Mount Vernon was absolutely fabulous! We had a great family day of history and learning. My children participated in the wreath laying service, it was beautiful. We were also able to purchase a flag that flew over Mount Vernon for the day we were there. The lady in the gift shop went way above and beyond for us.

To visit the house of George Washington who directed the United States, is a real discovery!
When you are traveling in the American capital, it would be a shame to miss this historic place, part of the American culture!

This is a must see! The mansion tour is gorgeous! We were able to have a wreath ceremony at Washington's tomb...paying our respects to such a gentleman president. There are several gardens to tour, shops such as the blacksmith, shoemaker, and spinning shops, trails to hike, a farm, and the most spectacular view of the Potomac! There is also a place to eat and a large gift shop. There is something for every age here. Explore!

Amazing place to visit, even more amazing how they kept the house standing, what's really cool is the surrounding area there are houses like the blacksmith building and others like that, I believe they do reenactments, but not while I was there. The staff are very informative and will answer questions that you ask them about that time and it's honestly overall a pretty cool place. I would recommend this for all ages, but there are places that you walk to so keep that in mind.

Mount Vernon is amazing however we found the costumed staff to be standoffish. We 1st encountered the lady at the pioneer farm. She told us she had nothing to do with George Washington and was unable to give any information about her role. She seemed bothered by the guests. Also when we went to approach a gentleman dressed in period costume by the main house he walked off. Staff on gift shop and restaurant were amazing

As amazing of a place as you would imagine. However, this property is not owned and maintained by the National Park Service, thus there is an entrance fee. After that, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable about the history surrounding the grounds. Plenty of artifacts and historical documents here. My only complaint is that I was not expecting a fee. It was reasonable for the experience, but after leaving D.C. where almost everything is free, it was a shock.

Christmas event absolutely no organization and very little lighting. Too dark to see buildings, people, anything really. The girl at the will call window was picking her nose as we asked her a question. They lie when they say you skip the line. We had to stand in a very long line even though our ticket said skip the line.

Washington's estate provides a unique experience that goes beyond just an architectural monument. They hire actors who pretend to be from the 18th century, and this draws you into the lesson you are given in touring the plantation.
