Very nice and cosy hotel. Room was very cosy, clean and spacious. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is perfectly located, about 20 min walk to Matlock and Matlock Bath. Hotel offers an access to free wifi and the well equipped bar. Highly recommended place!

Lovely hotel perfectly located between Matlock and Matlock Bath. We were impressed with the modern room and ensuite and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
Beautiful place in picturesque Derbyshire with comfortable and well presented guest rooms with sleek bathroom facilities and high tech power showers, cosy bar and restaurant with a very good selection from traditional hearty English menu. One remarkable detail - outstanding hospitality! Hotel staff were very accommodating, helpful, attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much to ask. Superb service! Many thanks to Connor, Graham and the rest of the team for making our weekend away so special.

Lovely hotel and staff. Only a few down points, shower was poor but worked fine, no top up on tea and coffee or clean cups as we stayed a couple of days and tv was a bit small especially being wall mounted (Not that we went to watch tv so very minor point!)
Stayed for one night in a superior room. I wouldn't say it was superior really. The furniture is old and a bit tatty. The bed was ok. The carpet definitely needed a good hoover, there was lots of bits on it. The breakfast was ok, very hot and served to you. I had eggs Benedict, the eggs were good and the bacon but there was no spinach which was meant to be on. The young man who served us was very nice and polite. On leaving we pressed the button to hand the key card back but no one came, I looked all over but couldn't find anyone so we left the key card on reception. It was ok for a stopover but I wouldn't go again.
This is quite a nice hotel and the staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are just a little ill thought out (tiny sink meant for a cloakroom, where there is plenty of space for a proper sink. Tiny TV mounted miles away from where you sit, blinds that don't block out the light will be awful in summer, no coat hooks) or starting to show signs of wear. (wobbly floor tiles, toilet seat didn't stay up). Other wise a very nice place in a nice location.
The gentleman who was on was so nice, room was super clean and tidy and just perfect for me and my partner. We had everything we needed in the room. We will definitely be coming here again very soon.
Had a fantastic stay at the High Tor Hotel over the weekend, a huge thank you to Connor who looked after us during our stay. The hotel was spotless, our room was superb, and the breakfast was exceptional, I cannot find fault with anything and we will definitely be staying there again.

Well worth a visit! really good food and service in the restaurant. The staff are excellent and the atmosphere is lovely - we will be going back soon.
Unfortunately not to impressed with are stay. First evening we arrived restaurant closed, lager preferred from bar not available. Room okay but toilet seat wrong size and loose, few tiles loose on the bathroom floor and when running bath water immediately escaping down the plug faster than you could wash. Wall heater next to bed was hanging off the wall which was supported by a glass to hold it up. Last of all breakfast first morning was wasn't great service has we had been informed cook was taken ill,all though got a cooked breakfast second morning no cooked breakfast at all.Staff trying their hardest to explain the situation but still not acceptable.
Located in a beautiful setting, staff are very helpful, polite and very easy to talk to. Sat in for one meal, enjoyed the food. Yes the TV is small in the rooms, I don't personally see that as an issue as exploring the sites on the doorstep is much better than TV. Will be staying again in the future.

Stayed here for a family do, so booked the whole hotel. The staff were very welcoming and the rooms were a great standard, However the chef had walked out and instead of coming clean and explain the situation they lied and served food I would give to my dogs.The hotel then went back on their prices that was arranged and over charged for some of the rooms.

A party of 10 of us stayed overnight Saturday 15th June.Rooms and breakfast excellent. Unfortunately one of our party became ill on Sunday morning and needed medical assistance. An absolutely fantastic hotel!! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Food was exquisite for both breakfast and evening meal. Surrounding area and views are breathtaking. Both Connor and Amy were an absolute credit to the place. Friendly, helpful, knowledgable....the list goes on. We will definitely be returning.
Went in Sept so slightly out of season. We.booked a.superior room but the one offered on arrival was not very clean and had.a broken toilet seat. We asked to.move and to be fair got.a better room. The breakfast was.good !

I booked this hotel just for a night for my boyfriend's birthday as he's always liked a trip to Matlock. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly lady (apologies but I don't remember her name!) who was more than accommodating. She showed us to our absolutely beautiful room and was then serving drinks at the bar later on. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend for its location and friendly atmosphere.

Set in such in scenic surroundings with fantastic view of rocks, where they is wonderful walks to challenge you! Also with Matlock historical town just down the road! The hotel manager is full of helpful suggestions and his willing staff are so friendly!!

This is our little escape to hotel. Gorgeous setting, rooms are comfy, good showers and staff are great. We had the bar opened when we got back and weren't rushed at all to go to bed even tho it was late. Lovely boutique feel to it, and in the middle of the 2 ends of town. Bout 1/2 a mile to either end

Lovely hotel in matlock. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the room we stayed in was great and kept to a high standard with a nice relaxed feel to the overall experience. The food at the restaurant in the evening was fantastic, highly recommend the homemade banoffee pie! We will definitely be visiting again. A beautiful hotel in a lovely location, however the selling point has to be the service we received. We were warmly greeted by Amy and Connor, who were both professional, welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they are a true credit to the High Tor Hotel. Highly recommended!

On arrival we was greeted and shown to our room we was told we had room 1 but was upgraded to room 7 a family room ( that s the reason we booked because we was on the first floor near everything the room was basic we unpacked we tried to obtain WiFi which we read it was available throughout the hotel couldn t pick up a signal at all all our mobile phones had no service tried to put the tv on and only 5 channels my son wasn t happy has he loves to play on his tablet was disappointing we had booked for 2 nights but we didn t want to stay another night so ended up getting a refund

Highly disappointed. Stayed last night. For a night away. The room was called superior Why I don't no! The heater in the room didn't work. The toilet seat was half bolted on. A outer window that didn't shut properly. Howling wind all night. I had to carry an electric heater upstairs to my room. Wasn't given the offer of it being taken upstairs for me. Had to ask several times for the same thing. Entrance out of the lift blocked when came downstairs for breakfast. Breakfeast overcooked. And we were the only guests there? DISAPPOINTED.

Me and my husband stayed for our anniversary. We had the top suite. Was lovely accommodation with friendly staff. Would highly recommend for a weekend break.

Nice hotel. 5 minute walk to Matlock shops. Rooms are nice, however on this visit we were allocated a tiny room despite stating we had two children. Luckily we had family whereby we could switch rooms. Someone obviously not thinking clearly upon booking. Our 2nd visit to this hotel and overall I would recommend, despite the fact we will prob book elsewhere next year. Def worth a visit at least once.
