The Calcutta High Court is the oldest High Court in India till now. It was established on 1st July, 1862 under the High Court's Act, 1861. It has jurisdiction over the state of West Bengal and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The High Court building was designed by Mr. Walter Granville, Government Architect, on the model of the 'Stadt-Haus' or Cloth Hall at Ypres in Belgium.

The seat of the High Court is Kolkata, capital of West Bengal. It also has a permanent Circuit Bench in Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in Jalpaiguri, the headquarters of the Jalpaiguri division of West Bengal. The court has a sanctioned judge strength of 72.

The neo-Gothic High Court building was constructed in 1872, ten years after the establishment of the court itself. The design, by then government architect Walter Granville, was loosely modelled on the 13th-century

entrance are very clean, but gate -C,E and G are very unclean.

This court granted by Her Majesty Queen Victoria., bearing date June 26, 1862, and is the oldest High Court in India. It was established as the High Court of Judicature at Fort William on July 1, 1862 under the High Courts Act, 1861.Sir Barnes Peacock was the first Chief Justice of the High Court.

I have given my Mutual divorce case to Mr. Sreemon Bose, advocate.

But he delayed for 04 months to file. For him only I have to suffer for mental health extra 04 months.
I have asked for the reason but failed to give any genuine reason.
I asked him to leave my case and he agreed. But Mr Sreemon Bose is not refunding my money as he have taken 8000/- for whole case solution.
In my experience Mr. SREEMON BOSE have cheated to me.

I love the style of the building. Had opportunity of roaming in its corridors. The smell the atmosphere transports the visitor to a bygone era as if in a time machine. Well maintained and a must see for the Kolkata visitor interested in history.

The highest judicature of the State of Bengal. The building is of historical period bears the elegance of the then architecture. Located almost beside the river Ganges. A place one must visit. One can witness the mass of people busy with their court matters on weekdays.

Nice place ! Most important & valuable court of West Bengal ! Don't want to go there in my life !

Not just a high court or a jurisdiction place but I would recommend everyone to visit this place if you're in Kolkata.

Firstly, am an advocate practicing at the supreme most temple of justice within W. B. and secondly, there is nothing to unlike or hate about this place. Still there are some draw backs so, I have gave it 4 stars.

Google did not update the name the Hon'ble Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court. The reason is best known to them. This type of wrong information will diminish the reputation of Google and also faith of people with Google.
