Hi, Calvo and Calvo are great lawyers. Everyone was very helpful. Jose really did everything he could to fight for my case. While other lawyers wanted $15,000 to $20,000. He took my case for $5,000 and let me make payments, since he actually looked through my case. While other attorny's based their price off the charge. In the end he got my case dropped. Jose Calvo was my criminal defense attorney during a time in my life where Cape Coral Police sought to ruin myself and my family on sheer allegation under the guise of probable cause .
Through my dealings with Jose and his office attendant, Lizzet Diaz, I have much to say.
Jose needs better office staff in my opinion. Communication with his firm was a major setback for my family and I who needed answers when requested----not days or weeks afterward. This was a consistent reality I faced when dealing with Jose and Lizzet. It made me feel depressed and angry given what was going on in my life and not feeling rest assured that my case was being handled the way I thought to be proper. I would send Jose multiple emails just to elicit a response as to the status of my case. I would easily go days or weeks without hearing back from either Jose or Lizzet and that was grossly unfair and unjust.
In my opinion, I had high expectations for Jose Calvo and maybe I shouldn t have. I wanted an attorney to fight for me. I had a case where all of my charges except for one were not even filed by the district attorney s office. The only charge that stood could, in my own observation of the evidence and facts I had, could have been contested in case management if Jose would have fought back. Instead, I get the I want more money if you want to proceed to trial excuse. I witnessed Jose getting brow-beaten by some 27 year old assistant prosecutor when asking to get my case dismissed and truth be told, it disgusted me because it s MY LIFE on the line! It shouldn t have to come to that if you are aggressive at every stage of the legal process and not just trial. The last and only charge to be fought was eventually dropped but it took a considerable amount of time to do so when in shouldn t have given the facts and circumstances of my case. Again, that is my opinion.
Getting my seized property back from the police was no picnic. Lizzet was HORRIBLE with communication with me, again, having to constantly hound day after day for a response when I was promised a call back or an email before the end of the business day. I had to get in touch with Jose after nearly two (2) months of Lizzet not getting anywhere with the police, who just love to sit on your property despite having a court order signed by a judge mandating its release.
Summarily, take your time in hiring an attorney. I hope you never have to hire one but if you do, do your homework. Retain an attorney who is aggressive and will communicate with you clearly and quickly. It s your life and freedom on the line. Don t jeopardize it.
Hiring Jose Calvo and his firm was the best decision I ever made! He was professional, honest and worked hard on my case to get the charges dropped and clear my name. My experience with Attorney Jason Rios was a nightmare. He was quick to contact me day one, but failed to do any work on my case. I was involved in a domestic dispute. My friend was able to have all charges removed and Jason only contacted the states attorney after 2 weeks of me calling and begging for help. We were able to resolve the issue without any help from him or his staff!!!!! BEWARE...... I wasted 2000.00. Dont make the same mistake!

I wouldn't know how the lawyers we're. I couldn't get to the because of how Unavailable the Receptionist said they were at their little 24 hour ferm. I called and could not get any information .she just told me that there was an attorney in the office. Then continued to state that non were available . And that she could not transfer my call, could not go see if an attorney was present, and just "couldn't" do anything that they could have Chosen to do so easily!
