A great place to go on rides, explore historical homes/buildings, learn about history and great places to eat and shop!
Wonderful place to visit. The employees are nice and the place is like a dream world. It is wonderful seeing how people lived back then. Definitely would visit time and time again. If I had the money lol. But beautiful and captivating place all around!
It was really entertaining and interesting. I recommend to visit
This is a great place to spend time with the family this is Sam not D Ritter
I always enjoy a trip to the park with all of the history to experience. Riding on the old fashioned steam train and on the replica paddle boat.
Neat little historical park. Best to go with people who would be interested in it.
Great place to be this summer. Especially Harvey's icecream, so yummy
An excellent and evolving slice of history. The only negative is having to pay for parking separately, and for the streetcar to the gate if you want to take it. At least inside the park, rides are included.
It s a nice place to go with family. Parking lot might be a bit crowded, especially on the weekend. Long walk up and into the park. Lots of houses and shops to look at in the park. I would definitely recommend the candy store, bakery, and ice cream parlour. Selkirk grill is very expensive, so maybe eat lunch at Gunn s Dairy Barn or the Wainwright hotel( you might have to wait a bit for a table at the Wainwright hotel). I would also recommend riding on the train. If you have young children, I recommend taking them to the midway. Day Out With Thomas is also good to do with small children.
Every visitor to Calgary must spend a few hours at Heritage Park. Beginning at Gasoline Alley, then thru the park itself, the visit is always eventful and well worth it. They have done a wonderful job of collecting and restoring heritage buildings, as well an old fashioned midway for the children. Our grandkids really love the old steam engine train as well as the steamboat and the staff is great at making you feel like you are back in time. Parking is NOT free so be aware on your arrival.
Awesome place this is probably one of the coolest places in Calgary
We had our wedding here exactly a year ago. I highly recommend it. Our wedding coordinator, Jennifer was amazing. she was so organized and quick to respond. She tried to be accommodating to her best ability, but heritage had strict guidelines. Price is super reasonable, and the staff and food were all amazing!! When i spoke to my guests they all had a great night!! Thank you for giving us such fond memories for our big day =)
Lots to do. Historic town, working blacksmith, train, paddle boat, and amusement park. Also many places to eat and cute shops.
So much to see. Lots of places to sit, rest or get food. Great train ride. They are doing lots to make things run smooth with all the covid19 precautions.
Absolutely fabulous. All the players kept to script and the buildings were beautifully done. Extremely reasonable entry fee.
I've been coming to Heritage park for six decades -- pretty much since the day it opened. It's a great interpretation of Alberta's recent history and includes rides and fun attractions to help resolve any "history is boring" comments from the back seat. Staff members are pleasant, informative and your admission includes dramatic presentations by talented young performers. Expect to spend at least 3 hours and it's not unreasonable to stay the better part of a day.
This is one of Calgary's "Crown Jewels" for tourist attractions, but you can tell the park is stressed for funding -- especially since the energy boom has packed up and left town. Don't let this discourage you from coming, but for Albertans and Calgarians, spread the word that Heritage Park needs to be maintained if we want this great resource to continue.
We really enjoyed our lunch and rides at Heritage Park.We loved the new look !
Bring your walking shoes !! Most of the paths are made from gravel which adds to the theme. Great place to spend a sunny afternoon,i wouldnt recommend coming here in bad weather just because you are going in and out of buildings all the time. there are only a few exhibits where you are inside for a while, family friendly park with lots to see and do. If you can, catch a ride on the boat that goes over the Glenmore reservoir. Its a relaxing 10-20 minute ride and a great end to the day, oh and don't forget to stop for fun on the vintage carnival rides.
Wonderful place to explore and learn about both Calgary and Alberta history and how people lived at the time. Lots of activities for kids and a fully functional train.
Their day to day stuff is fun in the summer. Halloween and Christmas events are fantastic.
All inclusive rides, staff have impeccable manners, and food is good. Fun for kids.
A great place to enjoy our local history, and who could miss Railway Days?
Seriously one of my favourite places! I feel like they have something for everyone! Easily worth the ticket price and the time you spend. Be sure to get a guide and plan your day so you can see some amazing exhibits!
The park was really busy for most of the day because of all the field trips but after they cleared out it was very relaxing to be there. My kiddo loved the midway and the playground so we spent a couple hours there. The boat unfortunately wasn't running while we were there which was too bad because that's part of the reason I wanted to go, but it didn't ruin my day at all. The bakery there is so good we all had sausage rolls for lunch and the ice cream shop had yummy ice cream. My 4 year old was able to ride all the rides, some of them for the first time ever so that was really exciting. Definitely recommend.
Wonderful place for all ages to enjoy the day. Entrance admission covers all rides, train and boat included. Bakery goods were yummy and all staff are very friendly. Beautiful grounds also.
What a great working historical village. Plan to spend a good four hours here.
Love the place. If you want a true taste of Calgary history, this is a great place to visit.
Fun amazing place with alot of great people, and good food and treats, great places to view
Fantastic variety of historical things to see and experience
No vegan options to eat besides french fries... get with the times Heritage Park!
Make sure you have plenty of time to visit. A wonderful place for all to visit
Was there for a private catered event. Staff were friendly and very accommodating when we had more guests arrive than expected.
A wonderful interactive depiction of life as our used to be in the West. So much to see and a wide variety of activities. Suitable for all ages. We have been season ticket holders for many years.
Cool historic things to see and stores to browse. Expensive and tourist geared. Lots of walking.
rode a steam engine powered train in 2004 in India...brought memories back when i took them at Heritage park ...loved the HBC fort..must visit if you are in Calgary.
Kids love this place. Ice-cream, the old candy shop, the old rides, the steam train, and the boat ride. All the animals and history is great.
I love Heritage park. I grew up going to it and I hadn't been back in 20 odd years. It is even better than it was. Great for families or anyone. It is a must if visiting Calgary.
I recently hosted a client event at Heritage Park. The staff were all amazing and so helpful. They were organized, very knowledgeable and really wanted my clients and I to have a great experience. I will definitely host an event here again.
Everyone should go here, & take kids so they can learn History in a fun way.
Wonderful place to visit!! Something for everyone. Lots of history here and fun rides for the kids. Make sure to watch the street theatre. The actors do a fantastic job!! Yummy bakery.
Disappointed that the park was closed. Confusing signage left a lot of people confused as no signs said park was closed on a beautiful day in September.
There were shops that were open. A lot of very interesting things, but sales staff in each of the 5 buildings could care less to be there. Little to no service.
We didn't try the restaurants due to the negative experience.
This was a very bad first impression of Heritage Park.
Been going here since I was a kid even took some of my first steps here I absolutely love it here and would highly recommend to anyone. Can get really busy but its worth it
Went to Heritage Park adults night for $20 each and there was nothing to do except for use the rides (which were super fun), look at the outsides of all the buildings, and go into the concession/drink tent. We spent an hour there and we were done doing everything there was to do. Even if a few of the buildings had been open it would have been more worth it.
Great for school groups. We loved the Trains, Plains and Immigrants lesson. The whole place is just a neat and vibrant atmosphere.
Great fun for the kids and for me. I especially enjoyed the car museum, seeing Cords and Hudson's and even a Ford Model A similar to the one my grandpa had. The steam train was great for the kids too. The loved watching and riding it, and loved the various carnival rides.
Amazing! I love how everyone is in character walking around or living In houses. Also their candy and ice cream place is the best! Everyone there knows their facts.
Don't forget to ride the train! The conductors are so friendly!!
If your ever in Calgary this is one place you must go to!
It's entertaining for like a once a year visit. The rides are historic, so they're tame by modern standards. The volunteers really do give it their all in trying to play their parts. The train is fun to ride but it only goes around in a model-train-like simple loop, so it's fun once. The bakery is awesome.
Be prepared to walk. Everything other than the car/gas museum is a fair distance from the entrance. If you have someone with you who can't walk far or long, consider arranging for the shuttle when you buy your tickets.
One of my favourite attractions in the city. Went to Once Upon A Christmas yesterday, price was very reasonable to get in and the kids had lots of fun. Just wish we could have gotten in to see the train cars, they weren't open for Once Upon a Christmas. Highly recommend Heritage Park year round. Tip: Safeway has discount passes that you redeem for 25% off entry for Once Upon a Christmas.
Interesting park but they need to revisit admission options. No discount offered even within an hour of closing.
Fun the bakery is great and a fun learning environment.
Been there dozens of times with family and friends. Great historical reference to western canada, hometown history, and fun for all.
Great wholesome attraction based around Canada's history. Train rides and trips on the paddle steamer included in the entry fee, along with rides on old fairground attractions. All the volunteers an staff are friendly and informed in their subjects.
Lovely hiking path around a large reservoir for sailing. Nearby shops and places to grab a quick bite or drink.
I really expected very little from here but it was amazing! From the mini amusement park to the shops and train ride experience it was truly worth 5 stars. I will definitely will be coming back next time I come to Calgary
Excellent Gasoline museum with well maintained antique and vintage vehicles.
A living museum and a peep into the Canadian past. Not to be missed.
Nice place to learn the history of calgary. Well maintained place. Staff are so accommodating. It's like you time travelled to the 1930s.
4yr old grandson, loved the train, & the old trucks. He couldn't stop talking about it. Still talking about it everynight
A lot of space, great staff and wonderful homes and trains!
Fantastic experience, even with many of the buildings being closed due to the pandemic. We were surprised to see a lot of original machinery and tools which have been restored and maintained for continued use throughout the park. Will definitely have to return again once everything has fully reopened.
We went for a visit and we would go back again. Visit the car area. It was fantastic. And the staff was very helpful
What a treasure! It is hard to capture the attention of the young, old and inbetweeners simultaneously....but these folks have done it. I have never seen so many folks truly engaged at one venue. It is worth your time to visit.
Had a nice day out with the family but its just another tourist trap everything is way over priced
Went for old fashioned photos to replace our wedding photos we lost in the flood. Kid took three shots that's it. All of which were from below so up our noses. Didn't let us have any input. Not impressed. Yes it was pouring out but we were there for a reason.
More than just a theme park. Heritage Park holds a special place in the hearts of Calgarians. The cheese buns at the bakery are to die for.
A must see when you come in Calgary. All the history is very interesting!
Nice and rather unique place to visit. Informative, provides a train ride included in the ticket price but I feel the ticket is rather overpriced.
Biggest bang for your buck! An amazing experience for young and old alike. Beautifully maintained buildings and grounds, and lots to do. Spend the day and enjoy it all! You will not be disappointed.
Take the wagon tour... Did you know it was organized by timeline? I didn't...
Spent a full day here and did not see it all. Great for both kids and adults. I enjoyed the train ride particularly. The boat is good too. The interpreters there are enthusiastic and we'll informed.
Great place for locals and tourists. Lots to see of the frontier days in the West. All buildings on site are authentic and newer buildings with antique cars opened in the last few years. Kids will have a lot of fun there.
This was a fun day out. Was here for a conference. But during the meeting we did a scavenger hunt and then after got a chance to ride the boat and have a meal at the hotel. All very top notch.
Great place to explore and just take a step back into history. Love the fact that there are interpretive actors who play authentic historical roles and explain certain aspects that are not common to our current lives. This place is a treasure.
Always fun and reasonably priced for the whole family. Specifically went to see Thomas the Train.
Fantastic venue for all events. Staff issues friendly and highly recommend the coffee shop for a quick snack or the restaurant for a drink or a meal
Very nice place, shows Calgary history pretty decently, very expensive though
The scale of the place is enormous.... Really informative and friendly staff.... Cool cars and fuel pumps..... Has a mini amusement part too.... And a vintage ship. .
Great family fun. 22 days of Christmas is amazing as always.
Heritage Park Historical Village is a unique and fascinating living history museum located in Calgary, Western Canada. It is a place where visitors can step back in time and experience what life was like in the past. The park covers over 127 acres of land and features more than 180 exhibits that showcase the history of Western Canada from the 1860s to the 1950s.
The park is divided into four main areas: The Hudson's Bay Company Fur Trading Fort, Pre-Railway Settlement, Railway Prairie Town, and Heritage Town Square. Each area has its own unique exhibits that provide visitors with an immersive experience of what life was like during different periods of Western Canadian history.
The Hudson's Bay Company Fur Trading Fort is a replica of the original fort built by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1875. Visitors can explore this historic site and learn about how fur traders lived and worked during this time period.
Pre-Railway Settlement showcases what life was like for early settlers before railways were built in Western Canada. Visitors can see authentic log cabins, farmhouses, barns, and other buildings that were used by settlers during this time period.
Railway Prairie Town takes visitors back to the early days of railway travel in Western Canada. This area features a replica train station, steam locomotive, passenger cars, freight cars, and other railway-related exhibits.
Heritage Town Square is a bustling town square that showcases what life was like for people living in small towns across Western Canada during the early part of the twentieth century. Visitors can explore shops selling traditional goods such as candy stores or blacksmith shops or visit one-room schoolhouses or churches to get an idea about how people lived their lives at that time.
In addition to these four main areas there are also many other exhibits throughout Heritage Park Historical Village including antique car rides around town square; horse-drawn wagon rides through pre-railway settlement; live demonstrations such as blacksmithing or butter churning; interactive activities such as panning for gold or making candles; special events throughout year including Halloween Ghost Tours & Christmas Lights Festival which are very popular among locals & tourists alike!
Visitors will find plenty to do at Heritage Park Historical Village regardless if they're interested in history or just looking for some family fun! There are many activities available for children including pony rides on weekends (weather permitting), playgrounds scattered throughout park grounds so kids can run around while parents relax nearby enjoying picnic lunches under shady trees!
Overall Heritage Park Historical Village offers something unique & special - it provides an opportunity not only learn about but also experience firsthand how people lived their lives long ago! It’s no wonder why it’s considered one of Calgary’s top tourist attractions!
