I purchased my Mask here when I started a SCUBA class at my university. The sales staff was very helpful and didn't try to sell me into anything I didn't need but rather tried to find me the mask that fit best for me. I returned here to rent my wet suit for my open water certification and the staff again was very helpful in getting me sized etc. The prices for both the mask and the suit rental were very good and now that I'm certified I will be going back to them for future rentals and gear.

Gretchen and David and dive master Tanner were All amazing dive instructors. They all worked extremely hard to overcome the challenges and restrictions due to covid and get me and another classmate certified in basic open water. If you are looking for a shop to either buy scuba gear, learn to dive partake in "fun dives" or expand your learning this is your shop. Don't hesitate to stop in and gain knowledge about gear or even learn to dive. They will without a doubt take care of you. Thank you so much to Gretchen, David Waite and Tanner for the training.

One of the best done shops in the Portland area. They do all the work needed for regulator maintenance. They also sell so the gear you need for a great dinner trip. They also rent equipment for all your needs. If you need something for trip or need equipment fixed, this is your place to go.

Come check these guys out! they are super easy to miss on Main street but so worth the find. The whole staff is so professional and fun to be around. Any questions you have related to scuba they will answer for you! I cannot recommend them enough.

I have been coming to Underwater Works for over 30 years, I even remember the old location on Hall! My last experience was right before my trip to Turks and Caico Islands in August '14. My wife wanted a refresher course and I decided to join in too, the instructor did a great job working with us and testing our skills. Dave took a look at our equipment, that I bought from them many years ago, to assure us it was in great working condition. Great shop, great people, great service.

I want to say that my husband and I had an amazing experience here! We are fairly new to the diving world and opted to purchase new gear. This store had a great selection of everything one could want for diving! Dave was more than helpful, extremely friendly, very patient with my decisiveness and offered a ton of information on each product. He did not try to sell us on brand or extras but personalized our experience by spending ample time with each of us to ensure we bought what was best for us individually. When I asked about choosing between two products he led us to the product that met our needs and not by cost. I'm sure he probably loses a dollar here or there but he definitely gains customers who respect his opinion and will continue to come back. Hands down he was the most helpful person I have dealt with regarding gear and we will definitely return for all of our diving needs! Thanks Dave! Keep up the good work!!!

Great place to go for beginners and veterans alike. The staff are always great and helpful in all contexts and the monthly fun dives are always a great time. The instructors for the class are very good and willing to help in areas where some struggle. If you are thinking of getting certified I highly recommend Underwater Works in Tigard.

These guys are great! This place has an excellent staff. Highly recommend getting certified here. I always felt safe and had a lot of fun. Also they give you a student deal on mask, fins and snorkel when your getting certified threw them. Definitely an awesome place

Drove from The Dalles so that we could talk to experienced people to help us with our 1st purchase of snorkel gear. Dave was phenomenal! So knowledgeable and helpful. He took his time and explained everything from fit to function as well as care. It was so worth the drive.

Can't say enough good things about all the instructors that supported us in class, in the pool and at our open water dives. Noah is an outstanding instructor, Tanner is a great dive master. There are a few others that supported us along the way (Mark, Crystal, Jim,...) They know the material and respect the students. The positive energy these guys brought to our open water weekend is what got everyone through it. They take the time, answer questions and support each students needs.

Thank you guys and thanks under water works for running these classes. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

There are so many great things to say about Under Water Works, from the instructors, to the shop staff and the general friendly-love-of-scuba vibe. My husband and I just finished our basic PADI scuba certification through this shop. Mark, Justin, Tanner and Krystal were great instructors! From the get-go it was clear that they all LOVE scuba diving and are passionate about sharing it, all the while making sure safety is a number one priority.

I am hard of hearing, and cannot wear my hearing aids in the water, which was intimidating in the beginning. However, my nerves were quickly settled by the team really stepping up with patience, a willingness to adapt and make sure I could read their read lips and following up to make sure I understood the instruction (a special shout out to Justin here).

Beyond the class, visiting the shop is always a fun experience. All the staff are super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable and as with the instructors, it is apparent they all LOVE scuba and are eager to share their expertise and guidance. Though new to scuba, my husband and I are even more excited about it because we are inspired by everyone at Under Water Works and feel like we have found a new community built around a love of scuba :)

Would highly recommend this shop, whether it's learning scuba skills, needing to find some new equipment or wanting to connect with others who love scuba!

I was certified by UWW November and had a great time! My son was certified earlier that summer at scout camp and came with me for my open water (he dove with other skilled diver - not with me and the class). He was 16 yrs. old at the time and they treated him with respect and warmly welcomed him.

Classes were professionally presented and the pool time used efficiently at the local high school. Full classes didn't leave you feeling like you were forgotten.

I used their rental equipment (less the mask, fins and snorkel) for the open water dive. They were very organized in fitting and the charge for the rental was (as posted) very reasonable. About $100 for a Friday pickup and Monday drop off with two tanks.

The equipment selection they have for purchase is great and appears to be fairly priced. They will answer all your questions and then let YOU decide which one is best for you. No up-sell. I like that. Looking for tax return and any dropped change for building my gear up!

Would I recommend them? Yes. In fact I always suggest at least their "Discover Scuba" class ($65 at the time of this writing) to my friends and my son is trying to get interest with his youth groups. Would be a great family experience and a possible start of a new family sport!
