Excellent place to spend a day wondering around learning about some history of Canada and the local area. You can enter almost every building and each one you enter you are greeted by a person dressed in the clothes you would expect from the era. They were all very informative and you can ask as many questions as you like. There is a functional steam train and Steam paddle boat, riding on these are included in your entry fee! Your only extra costs would be good and souvenirs. Gasoline Alley had the most impressive display of old cars and petrol pumps I'd ever seen. I can highly recommend this attraction, but one word of advice, try to go when it's a sunny day, we went on a rainy day and there was a bit of walking sometimes between places, so ended up wet and cold by the end. All in all had a great day exploring the park.

I have lived in Calgary my whole life. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved this place. Something about the history all in one place amazes me. I love that the staff are dressed up in the era of clothing and that when you go into any house they have an astounding amount of knowledge about it. I make it a thing to come every year and recommend it to anyone.

Great job providing a safe and enriching environment. Always an incredible experience and opportunity to ride a steam train and see immersive history of our colonial heritage. Is it time to update this cultural resource in light of current global consciousness upgrade? Maybe, but no time for that here!

Horribly short season and the gasoline alley is the worst of everything- enough toys to fight over and lots that kids shouldn't touch but also not enough to make it worth it for grownups. The actual grounds are great but management could do a lot more to make this a much better resource

Great afternoon out. Admission prices should reflect their operations. If you have the boat and rides out of commission for the season you shouldn't be charging full price for tickets. 2 of the 4 major attractions closed doesnt warrant full price ticket admissions.

This is one of the most unique places you can visit. Walking around here can feel a bit surreal because it really does feel like you're walking in the past. Whenever friends or family from out of town come for a visit, I always take them, and everyone has loved it.

This isn't a museum where history stays behind the glass. The interactive exhubits, costumed interpreters, historic buildings and hundreds of working antiques are just waiting for you to touch, smeel, taste, hear and see how the West was once!

Amazing places to see here with very enjoyable interpretations. So much to see and learn. I particularily loved all the replica historical buildings and walking inside them to see how people lived. It also brought back a lot of memories of my own grandparents' house which still echoed a time from their own parents' era.

Went there for Thomas the tank engine. Expensive, but awesome. Really cool space, lots of parking. Unfortunately the Glenmore reservoir is out of service this year so the lake is really low, affecting views. Play spaces are great, really enjoyable experience.

Very expensive to get it, one pass for the day will run you about $40. The staff are very rude here. The actual heritage village is nice and the boat trip around the resevoir is definitely cool in the summer but comes with an additional ticket cost. All in all you pay way too much for what is offered.

Last weekend we took our children (1, 5 and 8) to Once Upon a Christmas at Heritage Park. We visit the park 2 or 3 times a year because our kids love it and it is a fun place to be. The Christmas set up is fantastic. There are so many things for kids to do, petting zoo, carriage ride, maze, Santa, train display, scavenger hunt on top of everything the park already offers. I would suggest planning no less than 3 hours so you don t feel rushed and more like 4 or 5 if you want to do most things. It s popular so if you re there on a weekend expect some wait times, especially for the carriage ride. We would highly recommend this attraction for families.

Great to just wander around with lots of stores and activities. Tons of historical information at all the sites as well as all the employees are wearing accurate time period attire. Fun for all ages. Be sure to check out Gasoline Ally as well.

About Heritage Park Historical Village

Heritage Park Historical Village is a unique and fascinating living history museum located in Calgary, Western Canada. It is a place where visitors can step back in time and experience what life was like in the past. The park covers over 127 acres of land and features more than 180 exhibits that showcase the history of Western Canada from the 1860s to the 1950s.

The park is divided into four main areas: The Hudson's Bay Company Fur Trading Fort, Pre-Railway Settlement, Railway Prairie Town, and Heritage Town Square. Each area has its own unique exhibits that provide visitors with an immersive experience of what life was like during different periods of Western Canadian history.

The Hudson's Bay Company Fur Trading Fort is a replica of the original fort built by the Hudson's Bay Company in 1875. Visitors can explore this historic site and learn about how fur traders lived and worked during this time period.

Pre-Railway Settlement showcases what life was like for early settlers before railways were built in Western Canada. Visitors can see authentic log cabins, farmhouses, barns, and other buildings that were used by settlers during this time period.

Railway Prairie Town takes visitors back to the early days of railway travel in Western Canada. This area features a replica train station, steam locomotive, passenger cars, freight cars, and other railway-related exhibits.

Heritage Town Square is a bustling town square that showcases what life was like for people living in small towns across Western Canada during the early part of the twentieth century. Visitors can explore shops selling traditional goods such as candy stores or blacksmith shops or visit one-room schoolhouses or churches to get an idea about how people lived their lives at that time.

In addition to these four main areas there are also many other exhibits throughout Heritage Park Historical Village including antique car rides around town square; horse-drawn wagon rides through pre-railway settlement; live demonstrations such as blacksmithing or butter churning; interactive activities such as panning for gold or making candles; special events throughout year including Halloween Ghost Tours & Christmas Lights Festival which are very popular among locals & tourists alike!

Visitors will find plenty to do at Heritage Park Historical Village regardless if they're interested in history or just looking for some family fun! There are many activities available for children including pony rides on weekends (weather permitting), playgrounds scattered throughout park grounds so kids can run around while parents relax nearby enjoying picnic lunches under shady trees!

Overall Heritage Park Historical Village offers something unique & special - it provides an opportunity not only learn about but also experience firsthand how people lived their lives long ago! It’s no wonder why it’s considered one of Calgary’s top tourist attractions!
